Sounds neato! I'll have to get the backstory going later.
Currently my idea is for an Elf Wizard (school of evocation) named Tempus Retrovios. Short summary of the backstory being that he spend most of his 876 years of life in quiet studying, not really doing much. (Probably having Calvin as a pen pal these last years of late.) And starting to regret he didn't do much more in his life. Then after a magical accident reverted his physicality to ~early teen years (using human terms) decided to take it as an opportunity to remake his life, stop being cooped up all the time, and embrace the adventure of a lifetime.
If that kind of idea isn't your cup of tea, I'll probably swap over to an Aarakocra cleric (life domain) named Screechirk Hireek on a divine quest, with Calvin maybe being someone that he met during some other duty he performed. (Maybe he was aiding after a disaster, or was aided himself by Calvin during a wing injury. Not sure, something I'd have to ferret out.)
Name: Tempus Retrovios Age: 876* Race: High Elf Class: Wizard, School of Evocation Background: Sage Character Sheet: https://ddb.ac/characters/69063806/MBD8jg Backstory: Tempus Retrovios spent most of his 876 years of life in quiet study. He sought out ways of magic and delved into the various history books he could get his hands on. Though it wasn't the most exciting of lives, he thought himself happy for many years. That his pursuit of knowledge could sustain his desires in life. But as he continued to grow older and older he started to think back on his life and wonder if he'd truly made the right decisions. But, feeling his life was nearing its end, he figured that what was best was to make use of his final days to see if he could finally make something of himself. One thing that brightened his days, as of the last decade, was starting a pen-pal relationship with a Half-Elf by the name of Calvin. He enjoyed the letters the two exchanged and while he declined invitations to join Calvin on expeditions through Wildspace, he was always enthralled by the descriptions his pen pal sent. From where he spent his time in study, the mental images remained a pleasant break from the dusty shelves.
Then one day, hoping to further his arcane knowledge, he tried out a new spell that ended up failing quite spectacularly. At first he wasn't sure what had happened. Certainly nothing he'd ever be able to replicate. But through some random twist of fate the backfiring of his spell had de-aged his physicality back into adolescence. At first, in panic, he tried to see if he could reverse it. But then he thought about it and realized that what he had before him was an opportunity to remake his life. An opportunity to be more than an old elf sitting in dusty rooms and reading through the same texts again and again. An opportunity to grab life by the horns and make an adventure out of it.
So it was with a newly invigorated adventuring spirit that he was filled with elation to receive a new letter to meet him on Leoria. Of course he would come! A new day had dawned in his life. And he for one, was looking forward to what it would bring.
Horatio Wellington III, scion of the respected-yet-feeble House of Wellington, is a pompous, vainglorious, arrogant rooster of a Giff. His two pastimes are hunting and preening himself in front of other nobles; often the two go hand-in-hand, as he regales crowds of nattering princelings with the story behind his latest leather fashion accessory, which up until perhaps a few weeks ago was part of some furry or scaly monstrosity haunting colonists on a far-flung spit of rock and oxygen called something nonsensical yet vaguely evocative like "Vergon VI" or "Omicron Persei VIII."
The problem for the many who find Horatio Wellington III insufferable, is that he's incredibly good at his job, and the job needs doing if galactic expansion is going to continue apace - the hoi polloi aren't going to volunteer to be colonists when they hear tales of atomic goose-hydras eviscerating entire outposts on planet Wurmulon, are they? So Horatio gets shuttled down with his trusty musket and "domesticates" the area. That's what they actually call it, "domestication." It's "noble-talk" for killing anything with fangs in a 10 square mile area.
Recently, Horatio got a cryptic message from an acquaintance in the Cygnispace system. If it was a simple domestication job, Calvin would have surely said so plainly. Clearly it was something else... perhaps something dangerous and prestigious... Drumming his thick fingers on his unicorn-ivory inlaid writing desk, he decided a break from his usual line of work would do him good, and could maybe buoy his house's finances up and out of the sewers from which his father had driven them. Yes, putting some real weight behind the name "Wellington" would be a fine gift to his grandchildren. He trimmed the still-growing edges of his finest trollhide pith helmet before slapping it on his stubbly pate, wrapped himself in his finest albino displacer beast cape, tied the tattered tentacles according to the latest galactic fashion, popped a dollop of wild slimeleaf in his aurochs horn pipe and made his way to Leoria.

Backstory Details:
A noble but seclusive druid, Tishkin always wondered what lies beyond the cosmos and within the boundaries of the multiverse. Though not a Circle of Stars druid, Tishkin's motivations for wanting to discover the astral plane lies in his years of seclusion, where he read and studied various books and articles about spelljammer based content, all the while honing his skills to good use. One day, the great Loxodon had his wildfire spirit (which was in the form of a bald eagle) collect materials needed to purify some of his friends from the Selesyna Conclave. Whilst soaring across the continent, the wildfire eagle came across a particular merchant who wanted to deliver a message to Tishkin and complied with his request. Upon further inspection by the elephant and his comrades, it was actually a message saying that he got an invite to travel through space and head to various planets located within the cosmos. Exhilarated by the fact that his dream goal would come true in nearly 8 decades, Tishkin readies his equipment and prepares to head onwards to an adventure that may never come back in his entire liftime.

Class: RANGER (going for SwarmKeeper)… I’m hoping Elora to find a strange space swarm specie that would adopt her
Background: Witherbloom Student
Backstory Details:Elora Xilhorn is a xenobiologist. Her childhood was filled with rudimentary alchemical experiments and looking for new species of insect. She became a student of Witherbloom College and graduated. The life sciences are the focus of your reading, which include biology and necromancy. Brewing strange concoctions with medicinal properties, exploring the anatomies of monsters, and cataloging swamp flora. She has a very open personality, sincere but can get lost easily in her work. Extremely curious, she would not run from an unknown creature but would try to study it. Two days ago, she received a strange message from a certain Calvin. Her best mate from school, that she lost contact with for years.
“Dear Elora, you remember the day I saved your life in college and you said you owed me one. Well this is it, I am calling it. I need you Elora.”
Backstory: Serush was left in a care of a family friend when his parents left on a spelljamming vessel, promising amazing stories and wonderful findings as they were archeologists. His guardian uncle Levish had a lingering ailment that just worsened over time. Soon the money ran out and he was scrounging food for the both of them. The only way out he say was through thieving. He got pretty good at it that is until he robbed the wrong person, a noblemen with some clout. He had to run so he took his uncle to a temple of Corellon and gave them almost all his money to care for the man. He said his goodbyes and reluctantly stowed away on a spelljamming vessel. There he met an irate captain who put him to work. In time the captain even trained Serush how to fight and heal. Feeling his debt has been repaid Serush left on his own journey. Perhaps he may find some word of his parents, whether they live or have past on.
Ra demands his worshipers shine like the sun on the unenlightened, dispelling the darkness which leads to death. Where there is a sun there is Ra and his faith should follow. In the light of this context it is only natural that such as I would take any opportunity to travel the stars exploring and spreading the veneration of our life bringer Ra. Plus every ship needs a healer and a cook both of which I can fill the need.
Fishing at night sky and water become one star light connects us. Some weird fish at night. I grew up fishing from shore small boat always at the water, my mother used to work on a bigger merchant boat, but Windy got old she says. She had her spot in the crows nest good eyes loud voice. She made sure I could cook, best thing for a crew is a cook. I’ve encountered plenty but Ra he just boats across the horizon everyday and blesses my fishing when he does... My dad was a knife fighter bested 100s of men whose family& friends hate him ma says don’t bring it up anyway
Growing up a treifling haunted by the souls of his far more fiendish ancestry very few would even talk to him and at 14 his family who feared for his safety sent him off to a school of wizardry while he was there a new king came to power he began to prevent the use of magic outside of the kings payroll those who were seen using magic were killed and so in a matter of days he found himself in a underground revolution called the freedom fighters now he uses his flamboyant casting style to free others from the tyranny that holds them down
