I'm just trying to play an ooze. I was inspired to model the character after the mythical figure, Orpheus and I like the mechanics to reflect twse things. Weirdly, the background for bumping just to a deity and getting some perks for it is actually in Spelljammer, rhe 'divine contact' bg, so that works out pretty well. For Apollo, [Tooltip Not Found] makes more sense, but the build already has access to it, so other options made more sense in a game context. In my head cannon, the light spell is from Apollo. On that, the deity met can be anybody, but should probably be good or at leasr neutral aligned.
The warlock dip is admittedly a more mechanical than lore inspured choice: a strong Cha makes the to hit for spell attacks pretty decent, but with the Bard's spell list, offensive spells are almost exclusively save DC spells, which are fine, but in pbp especially, it makes the DM roll a save every time and AC based targets are just much faster for turn around, especially if you're looking at aoe vs multiple NPCs. Lore-wise, Orpheus was regarded as a wizard and a prophet (so divonation school.probably), but mechanically wizard is too MAD for a casting focused bard. I still think celestial warlock is appropriate though, because his patron, even before he's level 1 is his mom. It makes perfect sense to me, do your chores, get an allowance, except your gift is music and your mom is literally a muse, so 1 level of Warlock.
The low wisdom score plays out in the muth when he looks back before he and his late wife leave the underworld, <spoiler> doodling her forever, even after he was just explicitly told by Hades bit to look back. Crit failed that Wis save, he did.
High Cha: well, yeah, it's Orpheus. The low strength reflects the fact that he ventured into the underworld with no weapons but his voice, a very "bardy" thing, indeed. Still, starting equipment gives some stuff, so I kept it light. Itt probably ly lose most of it squeezing through a hole or something, anyhow.
What else? Oh, yeah: Orpheus could purportedly speak to animals and even ro KS, so he has that spell and he speaks primordial. Done and done. Between light and darkvision, this ooze is ready to explore the underworld, or the inside of an asteroid, or whatever adventures await.
Oh right, and silence. Remember the time the Sirens called to the Argonauts? Well, Orpheus was the one who put wax in theor ears to save the Argonauts (by some accounts). So, there you go. And as for bard college of Eloquence, his mother is the actual muse of eloquence; and if there's a time to biat out the MOoT subclasses, this seems like it. Fun spelljamming factolid: Caliope in our Solar system is an asteroid with its own moon, Linus.
Now, for this OC's actual backstory.
Name: Oorpheooze. Age: 19
Race: Plasmoid
Class: Bard 4, Warlock 1
Background: Astral Drifter
Party role: mostly buffs, pretty squishy.
Background:
The benevolent king Ivanooze ruled the plasmoids of Murg, a major squishy landmass on the planet Trisol. The rival nation of Strug led by Bont the Viscous was jealous of king Ivanooze's marriage to the celestial Caliope, a lantern archon, who had fallen in love with the king when he attended a concert given by the space-faring muse. The envious Bont sent his daughters to challenge Caliope to a singing contest, but they were sou dly defeated. Adding insult to injury, or perhaps vice versa, Caliope polymorphed them into magpies.
Some time later, their first son came along. Years would pass and young Orpheooze found he shared or possibly even exceeded his mother's own talents in song and was fond of playing the lyre, a gift from his uncle, a celestial, or so he believed, who his mother introduced as Uncle Plon. In a actuality, "Plon" was a deity whom his mother had known long before she arrived on Trisol The two spent much time together and grew close. From his uncle, Oprheooze learned not just the lyre, but also the healing arts and even a but of magic. From his mother, he learned responsibility and she rewarded his unwavering loyal service with a bit of her own divine magic, as well.
The young ooze found he could speak with any creature he set his mind to, through the universal language of music. Even the roxks and trees and the rivers and roads seemed to commune easily with the little plasmoid.
One day, he found himself aboard a Spelljammer called the Argos, and along the way the crew was set upon by the call of a strange satellite. The moon orbiting an asteroid turned out to he the lair of a Moon Dragon, luring the crew there, presumably intent on taking their Spelljamming Helm for its hoard, but the young plasmoid was able to silence the Dragon's mesmerizing call and divert the ship before it befell disaster. A battle ensued, with the Argos barely making an escape in one piece.
Making an emergency landing, the crew met with many Fey on an uncharted world, known to the locals as Tempe, one of whom, Eurydice, fell in love with Orpheooze. The two married tight there on her Homeworld, but tragically one of her countrymen, a space bee-keeper and Spelljammer named Chad would scold her for her love of a plasmoid. Feeling threatened by his angry tantrums, Eurydice fled, only to fall victim to the venom of a space eel's tail spine. She died there on the spot. Chad fled the planet, but found thst his space bees were dying, the colony began to collapse and Chad fled into the void. Orpheooze buried his wife and embarked on a quest, not for revenge, but in a desperate bod to restore life to his lost love, he boarded a spelljammer traveling to a busy port, from whixh he intended to make passage to Doomspace as it's known for the Eye of Doom spiraling at its center, to find an alternate world where he and his beloved can live together once more.
Akuma was a man who adored power. Sure, he was honorable when the time came, but Akuma never found anyone who could challenge him in his world. So when he finds out that there are other worlds out there that he could go to, well, there really isn't anything to do but go there and find someone who could finally match Akuma.
• Name & Age: Primrose Perianth, 21 • Class: Necromancer (neutral) • Background: I ran Prim in a pbp campaign that folded. The Party barely escaped with their lives. She was point buy. I can roll & apply scores to match, but would rather use another character if the scores are too far off. • Backstory Details:
Primrose was a child when the enemy attacked. Though her family was safe, there was a frantic and terrifying week where she was separated and saw far more violence than she should have. She's determined to help at any cost and like many before her, she's following the path of necromancy to try and revive (Raise, not just reanimate) the dead. She's very happy, smiling and chipper, wearing pink frilly clothes whenever possible (but she learned the value of camo in her last adventure). Just because you're trying to find "...The secret!...Of Life!...ITSELF!" is no reason to be morbid and depressing. Primrose is very stylish, and elements of Queen Eclipsa (Star vs the Forces of Evil) are in her character concept. Like Eclipsa, her signature is a parasol. Defined as a Rod Arcane Focus, with working "umbrella" features added.
"Oh, hello", she says in a slightly embarrased tone, and covers her blush with her hand. Sne speaks with the equivalent of an upperclass british accent as she says: "I'm Primrose Perianth, of the Perianth clan, 13th in line for the throne after my brothers :Peregrine, Percy, Perseus, Pericles, Percival and my sisters Petunia, Peach, Peony, Perinneal, Pearl, Peridot and Persephone. I'm determined to be the first to discover the secret of life...;ITSELF! That will allow mortals to heal and restore life to the fallen. I hope you'll add me to your group of heroes, I'll do my best to be worthy of inclusion." She gives a nervous smile, waiting for the response.
Since she has virtually no chance of taking the family throne, she broke from the "marriage or convent" fate of her class to spend her future inheritance on training as a Necromancer. She honestly thinks she can use Necromantic wizardry to duplicate necromantic healing effects. Long before 8th level she will have realized: Either she CAN use necromantic magic for healing and ressurection, and has homebrewed "Revivify" and better spells as Necromantic Wizard spells. Or she's realized she CAN'T revive people from death and has found a way to become a "Divine Soul Sorceress" (preferred) or a Life Domain Cleric as a second class to allow necromantic healing.
Let me know if she's acceptable, and how to mesh her concept with the campaign.

Whew. Thanks for hanging in folks! I caught the plague. Thought I was gonna be okay. Then became a zombie for a little bit there.
I've got two people recruited already (if they're still around), but by tonight I'll have the rest of the party picked out. Thanks for applying!
~Ivory~
Did you forget about this or just not notify us that everyone was picked
Is there still room for me to join?
I don't think OP is starting up the adventure. It's been almost a month since their last post in this thread without any updates.
This is a signature. It was a simple signature. But it has been upgraded.
