Roy turns to the others, “Thanks for the backup,” and set about squaring his bunk away, casually keeping an eye on Veena and her cronies looking for signs of the inevitable second attempt at establishing dominance. He makes a mental note to see if he can get a raw fish from from the kitchen.
Ooc (A. Don't think they'll try something when Xavier is around. B. sorry for stealing your street cred)
No apology needed, just one of those “roll of the dice” things.
Taken a bit by surprise, Rel doesn't even have time to get in a barbed insult before the whole situation is over. Damn, he thinks, I hope that doesn't get me kicked out of spelljammer school before I even start.
"Yes let's go get some gear. I feel naked without my flute. And that's saying something for a guy that usually doesn't even wear pants!"
Zaius stands behind Xavier and Roy with his teeth bared, ready to back them up, but is disappointed when Xavier handles the situation with ease. “Making friends already, I see. We will have to watch out for those ones. They will try to get us back when we least expect it.” He stows his own gear on his bunk and follows the others to the stores to get his equipment.

"Xavier laughs, then gives a little shrug.
"Some people just need to be punched y'know? That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if we get reported for like stealing something or whatever in the next couple of days. Seems like something Veena would do."
You enter the storefront to find yourself facing a barred window, behind which stands an autognome wearing a smart apron with dozens of tools of various purpose tucked into tiny leather loops. The only other article of clothing he wears is a black felt bowler cap. As you walk up to the window his eyes light up yellow. "Greetings. I am known as Mister Blip and I am the quartermaster for the Academy. I understand you are recent recruits, correct? We have extensive stores of equipment and armor and if I might say so a particularly diverse collection of weaponry. In short anything you might require I am happy to supply for quite reasonable prices. But first I see we have some cadets for the spelljammer corps for whom we are pleased to assign one service weapon with no exchange of currency required," he pulls down and opens a thick catalogue, filled with pages upon pages of weapons. He begins thumbing through the catalogue, giving a detailed description of each potential choice of service weapon, from a whole section of different designs of daggers and shortswords, through tridents and hand crossbows, to a page at the end which even shows a few pistols, though he notes that those last items require an extra, fairly hefty, deposit due to their rarity.
Once you make your choices, Mister Blip disappears into the storerooms behind the counter, and returns in a minute or two with your selections. He carefully notes down the serial numbers against your names in a ledger, before handing them over. "If you experience any difficulties or simply wish to exchange your service weapon for another in the future please visit us again. Now is there anything else I can get any of you? If you have a requisition voucher you may redeem that for any equipment you need. However note that there are some conditions: paragraph a), subparagraph i), total amount of exchange is not to exceed the value printed on the voucher. Subparagraph ii), value is non-refundable and non-transferable; any remaining value at the end of transaction is forfeit. Subparagraph iii) ..." he continues to list fine print for as long as you let him.
[OK, time for the actual gear shopping at last. Any of the gear from the Armor, Weapons, Adventuring Gear, or Tools tables or the Equipment Packs sidebar in the Player's Handbook is available. I think there's two ways to this, which each of you can choose: 1) Take the starting gold as listed in the prep thread, and buy equipment at the PHB prices, using up the 50gp voucher and then your starting gold. Or, which might be easier: 2) Remove all your equipment and gold, head back into the character builder equipment section, and take the starting gear that way, then add 50gp (or the price of the starting gear if less than 50gp), plus for corps cadets the price of the service weapon, in gold. Let me know if you have any questions!]
Gloix watches the autognome as it prattles on and, for one, seems quite interested in all the fine print and details and makes no effort to stop him. Afterwards the thri-keen steps forward to make his requests telepathically with the gnome so no words are spoken from him save a few whistles and clacks and a small amount of gear is purchased.

(Keep trying to wrap my head around method 2, and I'm not getting it, so I'll go for method 1. Start with 200 gp (150 for bard + 50 voucher) and buy whatever I can with that, right?)

[That's right, with one minor proviso: in the unlikely event that you somehow spend less than 50gp all up, you don't get the balance of the voucher (it's use it or lose it), so you don't end up with more than the 150 in cash at the end of the process.]

"Can I interest you in this fine silk rope? Perhaps some flasks of acid? Quite useful against swarms of tiny enemies. Or better yet of holy water in case of vampirate attack?"
Xavier, looks around the stores, trying to find something he wants to buy. he picks out a quarterstaff, ten darts, and a grappling hook with silk rope. He then goes to whoever he should go to and places them down.
"Alrighty, that's all for me, turns out I don't need the voucher. Got enough gold on me for it all." He turns to the rest of his party, and points to his voucher. "Just want to say, my voucher is going completely unused, so if anyone is going over, let me know."
Zaius barely hears the autognome drone on about regulations and subparagraphs, he is so focused on the weapons and equipment surrounding them in the storeroom. He promptly trades in his voucher for a heavy crossbow and selects a wicked looking scimitar as his service weapon. He picks his gear for quality and protection and grabs a backpack full of odds and ends as he gets ready to go, pocketing some of his leftover gold for later. “Pick your goodies and pack up mates. I think we have a ship inspection coming up. Boy, I can’t wait to try some of these beauties out later.”
(OOC: I think I did that right. Used the starting gold and just shopped around.)

So the consensus is to head to the stores next?

Gloix heads to the stores too!
As does Xavier
