Da'Kal joins the melee with the remaining shadow, slicing a piece off it, then the guard crewmate tries to follow suit. [Scimitar vs shadow: 4 for 4 slashing damage]
Meanwhile the rest of the crew fire the mangonel on the retreating Squid once more. [Mangonel vs Squid: 14 for 23 bludgeoning damage]
The shadow hits back against the thri-kreen newcomer. [Strength drain vs Da'Kal: 5 for 6 necrotic damage plus your Strength score is reduced by 1]
The enemy ship continues to try to pull away from you [range to 110' again].
[Foundling Maneuvering phase, Captain Zoide and Pilot Princess up!]

“Oi Oi cap!” Taking that general call as an order, Princess tries to close the distance with the squid ship. Using her bonus action to try and coax even more speed out of the hammerhead.
20 bonus action to try and increase speed 5’
(can Princess take the dash action with the ship with her action?)

[Yeah, the ship itself doesn't have an action with which to Dash.]
You keep the deck bathed in sunlight, while also keeping pace with the Squid ship [range back to 80'], which throws another rock at you. [Mangonel vs Foundling: 8 for 22 bludgeoning damage]
[Foundling Attack phase: Da'Kal, Eris and Icarus are up]
[Sorry for the slight interruption, my work's IT department has been At It again]
Icarus reaches to deliver another spell to the shadow, but the thing is moving like mist and he can't make contact. Da'Kal can, though, and slices through it with her scimitar; the barest wisps of shadow remain.
[Eris is up; will you try to take the shadow's last hit point, or continue to chip away at the enemy ship?]
Eris eagerly does a frontflip whilst the enemy ship retreats and pumps her feline hands into the air victoriously. "That. Was. AWESOME! Woohoo! Let's get out of here and finish what we started before the time runs out, shall we?"

[Well done! I think of the PC's only Da'Kal took any significant damage; the ship lost a bit over a quarter of its hp between the asteroid and the battle, and will need to spend some time in the sky dock for repair when you get home (or would if this weren't a simulation, that is), but there's nothing that needs to be taken care of immediately.]
Your battle over, Princess takes your damaged ship to spelljamming speed, and you resume your journey home. You are still some distance from Toril, however, when your ship slows, marking the unexpected presence of something else in the vicinity. It takes just a moment to spot another hammerhead ship in the distance. The other ship is severely damaged and adrift. Every few seconds, bands of electricity ripple out from the center of its hull, dealing further damage to the ship.
Princess doesn't think she's ever encountered an effect quite like that on any ship she's been on.
As you approach the other ship, you see the crew on deck, in Spelljammer Academy uniforms like your own. It's the other team of cadets that you're competing with, and it's obvious they're in trouble. You recognize Miken, helping a limping cadet along the deck when he spots your vessel approaching, and he waves to you for help, just as another burst of energy ripples though the hull.

Da'Kal looks over her shoulder and notices the more immediate threat of the shadow.
She moves towards it while pulling out her battle axe and takes a swipe at it!

A bullet rips through the last shreds of shadow, and you're alone on your deck once more!
The githyanki ship turns and seems to be trying to retreat in earnest now, not even bothering to keep their weapons angled towards you.
[They're running away; will you give chase, or let them go?]
“Oi Oi Cap’n” Princess relieved at not have to get “her” ship pounded anymore, starts heading for home.
Cleaning his weapons, Icarus says "Well done everyone"
