ooc: apparently i’m not proficient with scimitars, so i’ll also be lookinh to trade for a pair of shortswords instead.

Do we have to give back the wagons at Barthens?  Maybe the Lion place first?

"Thagakh thinks if we ask nicely, they will lend us the wagons, probably. No, I'm sure they will if we say please" as the half-orc scratches his bearded chin.

makes sense, we’ll offload everything else and then they can have the whole thing and unload at their own pace.

Lionshield Coster

Hanging above the front door of this modest trading post is a sign shaped like a wooden shield with a blue lion painted on it.

The master of the Phandalin post is a sharp-tongued human woman of thirty-five named Linene Graywind. Upon entering her store you are immediately approached.  “You are not from here.... what can I do for you.”

OOC:  The group needs to have a spokesperson.  That person can handle negotiations.  Others are welcome to chime in but it’s too hard to move through this kind of interaction based on initiative rolls.

The half-orc carries one of the stamped crates.

"We found crates with Lionshield Coster stamped on it. Well, not actually Thagakh but Johnson here and others outside. They found it inside a goblin's den near the trail."

we were taken care of some troublesome goblins and discovered you might be missing a shipment. we were hoping we might be able to get a finders fee for them. the goblins also may have “provided” a few other weapons and armor they don’t need anymore. interested?

ooc: basically giving them the marked crates and offloading anything that noone wants to claim

Linene says with tears in her eyes but still maintaining her edginess, “I thought this was the last straw for us.  With these Redbrand bastards and then the shipment lost,  I don’t have much but would 10 gold each be fair trade for the shipment?”  This building is owned by the Lionshields, a merchant company based in the city of Yartar, over a hundred miles to the east. They ship finished goods to Phandalin and other small settlements throughout the region, but this outpost has been hard hit by banditry. The most recent Lionshield caravan due in Phandalin never arrived.

In a back room, Linene keeps a supply of armor and weapons, all of which are for sale to interested buyers. Linene has a few scruples, however, and won’t sell weapons to anyone she thinks might be a threat to the town. Among those with whom she refuses to do business are the Redbrands. She warns the characters that the ruffians are trouble and advises them to avoid the Sleeping Giant tap house.  She looks at the used weapons and says she can make fair market trades or buy outright for half value.

"Thagakh is fine with the gold, don't know about the others but they'll probably agree. Thagakh would like to ask if you know something of Phandelver. Some of the items we found has stamps with that name."

OOC: Hey, Barty, how's Tyrus's charisma? Paladins usually have pretty good charisma. High charisma makes a good spokesperson.

"10 gold each works for me Thaggy. There's no need to be greedy for stuff we stumbled onto, right?"  Boghadair says to Thagakh with mindspeech.

While Thagakh is in negotiations with Linene, Boghadair looks around the shop seeing if there is any interesting gear I could pick up.

OOC: Paladin charisma to the rescue?

"I believe 10 gold pieces each will be enough of a reward for us, ma'am. But I wonder...we're quite a strong and experienced group here. If you could stretch that generosity just a bit more, and give us a good deal at your lovely establishment here, I can assure you it is going to a worthy cause...a cause that may very well be heading to this "Sleeping Giant" to dish out justice to any ruffians that deserve it."

Tyrus cracks his knuckles, hoping that the group is coming across as capable of handling a few thugs.

OOC: PALADIN CHARISMA TO THE RESCUE!

The half-orc shows a beam of smile that shows confidence and a thumbs up as he winks behind the human paladin.

OOC: Excellent!

Linene smiles brightly to the paladin, “I have friends at the Stonehill Inn.  I am sure they will allow you to stay the night for free if I tell them of your intentions and kindness.  3Shortbow, 40 arrows, 7 scimitar, 4 leather armor, 4 shields, 3 quivers, , 4 daggers, 1 arcane focus and two saddle pieces 200 gp ?”

Ian turns to Thagakh, “ this paladin has a way with the ladies.... I have never been much of a talker... “

ooc: that’s about 28 gp apiece. i’d like to use 20 gp of that to get a pair of shortswords. other i’m good with pretty much anything she offers as long as everyone else is good.

The half-orc replies to the goliath

"Thagakh also not good with talking people, Thagakh thinks it might be related to height"

as he sees two of them are much taller than most of their party members.

"Thagakh suggests if we divide gold equally and there is something left, Tyrus should get it"
