"Well met. My name is Kaphi. We have rooms of different sizes. The largest has room for 4 and the smallest has a single bed"
"Ah! Well, a room for four sounds perfect! How much?" The farmboy reached for his coin purse, eager to get to their room and plan their next move in private.
The driver then falls asleep slumped over the front desk. Kaphi gets up "I will take care of him. Poor Branig he has been working too hard'
Roland glanced at Tilsu, then quickly looked away as she helped the woman take "poor Branig" to a room. It seemed strange for the man to just drop asleep--Tilsu's doing, maybe? Better to ignore it and feign ignorance if so, he thought, smiling again at the tabaxi.
"If you have to know little girl I am waiting for my companions. They headed up north before me to scout ahead. I seek knowledge of an old place. Now be off with you little girl'The lady makes a shooing motion.
Kaphi looks to Roland "That'll be 4 gold pieces" She reaches under the front desk and pulls out a brass key. "Your room will be upstairs 3rd door on the right."
"That'll be 4 gold pieces. Your room will be upstairs 3rd door on the right."
Roland winced at the price: higher than he expected, and with him being nearly broke as well. He smiled and took the key, then turned to the others. "Shall we?"
The room has 4 cozy beds with a chest at the foot of the beds and well as a large window in the far wall. There is a circular table in the corner with several chairs.
Tilsu sits upon a chest, "So, were you all just going to try to sneak into the prison, rescue someone you don't even know what they look like, and hope just not be caught by the guards?" Tilsu questions Roland, "Mind you remember, its in the middle of this town. I'd rather not be wanted by the guards where the ship is currently docked, would you?" Tilsu adds as she starts doff her cloak and armor, letting her face and her scales be seen.
"If you have a another plan, please feel free to share it. I've already shared on how I'd get in, two ways in a sort, and have an idea on how to also smuggle our rescue out as well."She sets her armor onto the chest and heads to the table. She shows the pouch on her wrist, carrying the cursed coin, "Besides, the only thing this curse has done is prevent us from going to Neverwinter. There's nothing to suggest that we're pressed for time, so let's not charge head first into a prison."
Zhernon will immediately begin searching the room for anything unusual, of interest, or suspicious. (Investigation 12)
"Stealth, disguise, speed. Good plans. Zhernon will help."They sat on one of the beds and looked at the others. "Zhernon can disguise and walk through maybe? Don't know how to get the prisoner out."
Zhernon finds that the window has a latch and can be opened revealing a view of the brick building next door and an alley below. The chests are currently empty and there are a 4 extra candles in the nightstand.
Roland chose to sit on one of the beds, rubbing his chin. He began talking as he did. "Okay. Unless someone has a teleport spell, I only see three ways Delbyn is coming out of that prison. One is by force, but I don't think that would work or turn out well in the attempt. I think we can all agree on that." He stopped and looked at the others in turn for confirmation before continuing.
"Number two is for them to just release him. Now, that would be the best option, and maybe we can work that angle. Petition for release to the city council, make him appear infected, enchant the head warden over the prison, I dunno. But if we can't swing that, then him sneaking out is the only option.
"If we go that route, then I don't think getting in is our biggest hurdle. Whether we sneak in or manufacture some reason for us to be there, we still need to find him, get him out of his cell, and get him out of the prison, all without being observed, and without being found out for a good while. Maybe if we come up with that part first, it'll suggest how we should start the plan."
He turned to Tilsu. "What's your idea for smuggling Delbyn out?"
“Was that so hard?” Twig says to the lady before chasing the others up to the room, giggling as she runs.
Once in the room, she jumps up on one of the beds and sits on it, swinging her legs up and down as the others talk.
“You don’t see the obvious answer? That wagon guy came out, he probably will go back in there. We should let him deliver that food, then steal his wagon. Zhernon can disguise himself as the guy, and we can sneak a ride in on the wagon. Once we are in, we find the prisoner, then we all sneak back out in the wagon.” She smiles at the group.
"Just as the girl said, except with stealing the wagon. Just have him under the sheet in the wagon before the driver leaves. If we steal it, it'll make it more suspicious unless we keep the driver silent. We already see that the man is too tired to keep track of the actual cargo." Tilsu answers,
"And to petition for a man we don't know while he's been imprisoned for no clear reason for already a week, I doubt that will have any support. If we make him appear infected then that'll just give them a reason to get rid of him, permanently. And enchanting them is a gamble. If it works then we'll be lucky if they don't notice what happened. If it doesn't then that will put me in a bad spot."
"The man we're rescuing is a storyteller, not an actual threat to the guards. I doubt there'll be guards posted around his cell at all times. It's also most likely the same key that will lock up our capture will also be the same to open our rescue's cell. And if you're a guard, would you admit to your superior that you lost a storyteller they had for a week already."
Tilsu pauses for a moment, "We...also don't have to rescue him, we just need what he knows about the coin. Finding that out will be a lot easier than smuggling him out."
"We...also don't have to rescue him, we just need what he knows about the coin. Finding that out will be a lot easier than smuggling him out."
The farmboy's eyes widened as he looked at Tilsu. It was true--all they needed was the information, not the man himself. But even if he didn't ask to escape, something about not being willing to help the man--presuming he didn't actually deserve to be in there--struck him as rather cold.
He shook his head. "I think we should at least offer to help him escape if he doesn't belong there. Even if he does, he might demand it as a condition of getting the info. So having a wagon ready to smuggle him out sounds reasonable."
He then cocked an eyebrow as he looked toward Twig. "And something tells me you might know a thing or two about either locks or picking pockets. If you do, then we've got at least one option for getting him out of his cell."
"And if we're going to have the wagon on hand to smuggle him, we might as well use it to sneak in." He shrugged, then scratched his head. "That sounds like a loose plan, anyway." He looked toward the others for further comment.
"Then you can exclude me from that plan." Tilsu says, "With my armor, I'm more of a liability. You're also in the same sort of situation. In fact, with that plan, it will depend on only the two of them, more so on her part, as Zhernon will need to stay with the wagon. So if you wish to proceed with that plan, I'll be checking the town for more leads while waiting for them."
"Perhaps stay outside a ways. Draw attention to distract. If need. Hm? Have we thought to ask to talk to the prisoner? If just need information?" Zhernon shrugged.
"Its a prison. There will be plenty of guards inside. There are 4 watchtowers. 1 at each corner of the outpost. Watch out for Lieutenant Bram who is the warden.. He will most likely throw you in jail or worse. The only ones that can give him orders is Mayor Vathic or Commander Dietrich. No one is allowed in for visitation." She paces a bit. "You can can stay hear and plan how to break out Delbyn. I am sorry that is all I know"
"A distraction will most likely just draw the guards outside of the prison, there's still be more on the inside. Unless you cause a bigger distraction. And Roland already mentioned something about no visitations." Tilsu answers.
"Stick together. Better. New plan if needed. Prefer all go."
"Well, she is right... Tilsu and I would be liabilities if we tried to sneak in with you and Twig. Or just Twig. Hmm."
The farmboy thought a bit. "Well, I could at least hide in the wagon and wait, just in case you needed backup. We'd need a good cover of some sort in there though, in case they decide to inspect the contents while I'm hiding." He trailed off into a murmur. "Maybe I could hide under the wagon's floorboards? Well, if they want the backup, I'll figure something out."
Looking somewhat apologetic, he cleared his throat and continued, "I'm game, even if this mostly falls onto you and Twig. Just... make sure you don't get caught? I'd rather not spend the rest of my days on this island."
"If you remember what the man's cargo was, it's obvious that he's the grocer bringing foodstuffs for the place. So they'll also be offloading the wagon, you can't really stay with the wagon." Tilsu says, "And if we want all of us to go, then I propose my plan. We capture the wanted man, bring him to the prison, while we're in Zhernon and Twig can sneak away to find and escort our rescue to the wagon, meet back up with us and then we can all leave the prison, find the wagon and our rescue will be there."
"My plan provides for us all to be there, minimal stealth, along with providing us currency as both the people we're doing this for has failed to supply us anything but shelter. Besides if we're to use the wagon, would it not be strange if there is another delivery the day after one? I'd say we have a week before the man has to go back there." Tilsu adds, "We could spend the time making the plan better."

Zhernon nodded and with a mild grimace followed Roland up to the rooms, taking one last glance down at the front room before heading up.
