"Give me the shots. If I'm on my ass, I'm on my ass." Ellaria informs the bartender. "I have had a hell of a day and either way I end up will be better."
"And big guy, if they have a problem, they can take it up with me face to face." She says.
Ellaria now takes a moment to look over the small crowd of people around her. She looks each one of them over. "You all here for the same reason as Tala? Coin and opportunity or whatever?"
Tala silent for a moment not quiet sure what to think as normally people would hesitate to touch a goblin, yet here a complete stranger had done so willingly. After a moment throws her head back to laugh.
”I don’t think anyone has ever done that to me before. Seeings as our number is increasing what do you all say we take on the ruin job? Splitting 200 gold is not nearly so appealing as splitting 750. What you say big guy? You wana chance to blow off some steam and make some coin?”
Tala said while crossing her arms and looking up at Goramar with a twinkle in her eyes.
The man who had normally would have taken 10 silver for each drink crosses his arms rather impressed.
"Usually even one of those drinks is good enough for big guys like him!"
He said pointing at the half elf orc. Eclaire reads the ruins job again, her eyes scrolling through with a somewhat nervous glance on her otherwise porcelain expression. She had looked to Tala for a moment making a heart gesture at her two long ears. She had accomplished this without her expression ever distorting from its usual blankness.
"I'm still a little new when it comes to.. Practical combat."
She said sheepishly, she's trained her martial prowess plenty and her petite form hid many muscles under her mail. She had trained hard everyday before at the temple but.. She had never been in a real fight. She felt the need to be honest with these newfound companions.
OOC
She takes both those shots like a champ. Second would have been 2 DC higher (2DC for each drink but she passes both!)
That resilence feat for variant human nice choice for her hard drinking I like it.
Ellaria looks to the bartender with a smirk. "Don't judge everything by its size." She finishes that statement with a wink before tossing the bartender a gold piece. "I really needed that. Plus, I support local businesses."
OOC
Resilient Constitution for the win!! But I actually chose it for those pesky concentration checks. But helpful with alcohol as well.
The bartender takes the gold piece with a bit of a chuckle as she winks his way.
"You're a hell of a woman. Can't say we get many like you, big drinkers and big tippers."
He had bit the gold piece with a satisfied chuckle to himself.
OOC For the gold piece tip and taking two con saves purely for RP reasons I'd like to give Ellaria a D6 inspiration (DM inspiration) to use to add to any roll they want later this day (Will only last for this in game day.)
That's true concentration! That's pretty smart I never thought of that for pure casters though I have grabbed it for rangers/paladins. Pally's cause they spend some time getting smacked at a lot xD
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tala chuckles a little at Eclaire's hesitation. She excitedly goes up to her.
Don't worry your not going to be going alone! With her toughness (points at Ellaria), his muscle (points her finger right at Goramar's Bicep) and my keen senses and cunning well be in and out collecting the coin! If your worried though we could see if anyone else in here wants to tag along, never hurts to bring more just in case!
Tala hops up on the chair to give herself more height to get a good look around the room.
(Tala perception or insight roll to see if anyone stands out among the patrons. Both have the same bonus) 17
"I like your confidence Tala." Ellaria says as Tala jumps up on her chair.
Ellaria finally seems to be paying attention to what's happening around her. The crackling energy surrounding her, from the time she entered the tavern, seems to have settled. She seems to have sharpened, which is weird considering the amount of alcohol she just imbibed.
"What's this job you keep talking about?" She asks. " I am always down to earn some quick coin. ... I can't commit to anything long term. Got my own tasks to get on with. But some quick coin always comes in handy."
OOC
Thanks for the DM Inspiration. Just wanted to have a dramatic entrance for my character, it felt right.
Eric didn't expect so many people would gather so suddenly. With a moment of hesitation he decides to quietly join them, saying:
- Would you have room for one more? Eric's the name.
The group sees a tall and slender human, with gray shoulder lenght hair, the top of it tied behind his head. His eyes are grayish blue and he's wearing black and gray clothes. With not the faintest smile on his mouth, he just makes a slight nod to the group.
Then, leaning specifically to the half-orc - who seems the less chatty of the group - he whispers:
- Careful. There's a couple of hooded figures that seem to have taken an interest in this group.
He will stay alert in case the hooded figures decide to act.
This is Eric Slynt, human rogue, 5'9'' tall, gray hair tied in a top ponytail, blue-grayish eyes. He's 35 years old.
He has a rather calmed and calculating demeanor, and he is rather serious, not very talkative and maybe not the most friendly of persons you will come across.
He wears mainly black/gray clothing and while they are not very new and rich clothes, he tries to keep them very tidy. He tries to distance himself from the typical street rogue/thug unkempt and untidy version.
Sorry, I think my narration and English are not very tuned today and I cannot think of a better description right now ^^U
The job is for Briggid Frostclaw from the Phoenix Academy. Something about investigating ruins more details available when we meet. Pays 750 gold! The other option would be to hunt a manticore but it only pays 500 (Tala seems disappointed at the smaller amount).
Seeing Eric arrive and introduce himself Tala is a bit surprised she didn’t notice him before. She studies him carefully looking for something.
Always room for one more! Were either studying ruins or hunting beast but my vote is for the most gold!
Another observer, a fly on the wall, watches events at the Flickering Ember unfurl. By force of habit, Mood is happier to sit alone. This isn't to say he lacks interest regarding the strange new individuals - quite the opposite - but one year of wandering wisdom has manifested itself in a philosophy, of sorts: 'he who thanks the draught for stirring a stagnant room will not sit in its path, for fear of catching a chill'.
He stretches, tapping out polyrhythms on the table and allowing his cloud-grey complexion to blend into the background. His attention is most absorbed by the interaction between Goramar and Ellaria. Twenty-six seconds... the numeral flashes before his subconscious mind, unprovoked... give or take, for a likely resolve. Perhaps seven of ten times will this scenario play out in mild hostility, two in a peaceful consensus, and one... he muses... one is unpredictable. Let's see what fate says.
As the bartender replies to his words about magic, Goramar stretches his shoulders.
"Aye, it's a tool like any, but a tool's just a tool 'til the moment you swing it hard enough. Can't be too careful. And thanks but, I'm done drinkin'."
He eyes Ellaria as she responds to him.
"Or they might not 'cause of fear of what'd come to 'em. Then it's just bullyin'. Hardly fair."
His eyes darts towards the woman who introduces herself at Eclaire, visibly tensing when she pokes at him - probably poking at something more solid he wears under his coat. He crosses his arms as the conversation unfolds between Eclaire, the wild woman, the Goblin - who even include him in it at some point - and a Human with grayish hair. Was it just that simple ? Perhaps at the moment it was.
"It's that obvious I'm looking for ..."His mouth slightly twitches. "... merc work. Same as you, just temporary."Showing Ellaria with his chin. "Field practice, you could say. You can call me Ram, and nay, it ain't mean I wear horns."
His attention goes for a moment to the other patrons. An ... itch of something ? He frowns. They sure are likely to bring attention but ... where did that come from ?
- "Most gold" is music to my ears - Eric nods to the goblin. Then, eyeing the rest of the group he asks - Shall we go get more information about this job? Or do you any of you need to do something else here?
He the places his hand on his hip as if moving to a more relaxed position, but in truth he does this to get a faint touch of one of his daggers. The two figures will probably follow them the minute they exit the tavern, and feeling the presence of his steel always helps boost his confidence in an upcoming brawl.
Ellaria eyes train on Eric, "Whoa, whoa there Eric. I just got here and I want to enjoy my post drink buzz for a moment." She takes meaningful deep breath, closing her eyes, and releasing the breath slowly. "I am down to getting started on it today, just want to relax for a moment."
Ellaria looks away as she finishes speaking to Eric. She leans confidently against the bar before roaming her eyes across the tavern, finally taking a moment to take in this new environment.
Tala looks to the bar to see many patrons laughing and talking but no one really jumps out at her in particular. The sharp eyed rogue points the figures out to the large half orc but unless he gestures or points to them the half orc will have to keep a sharp eye to see them hidden as they are. (Perception Check.) Eric however can see the figures however stand up. Instead of tailing Eclaire or Eric they had begun to leave the tavern. Eclaire had grew rather quiet as Tala explained that things would be all right.
"And I will protect you all as well."
Eclaire had pounded on her chest with another stoic expression, if one looked into her grey eyes they'd see a bit of excitement clouded with a fog of anxiety. She had waved to the half orc again since he had stiffened up from before her expression blank and hard to read as ever. She had stood by Tala ready to exit the tavern on any job they decided was best.
OOC For anyone looking over the bar please make me a perception check ^^
Also as it's PbP it's okay to split up if you ever feel the need to in the future ^^ Also if you're ready to leave the tavern go for it I just didn't wanna railroad them anywhere and write a description of the next place till someone wrote something. But you've got you're job and exploration options up above ^^
Sorry if this post was short it's getting a bit late here haha
When he notices the figures stand up he moves a little to try to blend into the group and be covered to their sight. His intention is to be as hidden as possible and maybe follow them for a while just to check where they head to and eavesdrop just in case they say something useful.
They've definitely caught Eric's attention and he wants to know more...
Can I action "Hide" and follow them for a while, while Ellaria finishes her rest and the rest of the group finishes doing what they need? My intention is not to separate the group, but just to follow those figures, get whatever I can from them and then return to the tavern quiclky.
Mood and Ellaria may not see the robbed figures but they do happen to catch a glance at one another, two adventurers eyeing around a tavern taking in the sights and sounds around the exact same pace. Though besides stealing a glance from one another they only see a few groups preparing to take on a few various jobs. They are able to hear one group hunting Drakes and the other a group of bandits. Tala is able to hear all of this and more, she is even able to see the robbed figures eye at Eric and Eclaire before beginning to leave rather abruptly.
