Frustrated, Eric goes back to the tavern, taking the same spot he had just before leaving. Acting so casually as if he hadn't left at all, he just says:
- Saw a couple of misterious figures back there that had taken an interest in Eclaire. Tried to follow them to their warehouse, but they were quicker and I lost their trail- he grimaces, clearly annoyed by this - Anyway, they just seemed to want to make a few coins at her expense.
He then nods at the horned man, who seems to be the newest addition to the party.
Oh woops I missed some messages it seems, I'll try to make something that happens before Goramar does the "Perception" thingy, trying to hear the conversation and the people leaving. At any rate, I guess he would miss Eric.
The moment they ask about Eric, Goramar has a quick look around. Where did the Human go ? He was normally pretty careful, but not enough it seemed. Even in small quantity, alcohol could alter senses; he should have been wary of that. For good measure, he checks his purse, that seems to still be in place.
He remains silent as another individual joins them and starts a conversation, still somewhat upset. Something was going on, and he hated not being able to figure it out. Distractedly, he finally spoke in his low tones.
"Aye, beware of boundaries. You never know how they'll react."
He eyes them all in a calm yet inquisitive way.
"Ain't against teaming up but ... if one of you has enemies, better we know it now. As to ruin delving ... hate to kill the enthusiasm, Tala, but this ain't something you run blindly into with a bunch of strangers. That takes preparation and supplies. Ruins ain't going nowhere anyway are they ? I'd go for more urgent business. See how much you lot can be relied on. Nothing personal."
As he goes that, he scans the crowd in search of something out of the ordinary.
Tala fold her arms and nods. Her enthusiasm cooled a little but still excited at the prospect of wealth.
No offense taken i’m no fool. The job said that details would be provided upon meeting the client, so my thought is we hear it out. If it stinks we leave it for some others to partake of.
Tala’s listens intently to Eric as he describes the two mens intentions.
”Sounds a lot like one of the jobs hunting down two burglars that have been jumping people. 200 gold reward for it too. Can’t be 100% certain I guess but my gut tells me its them.
Ellaria takes the moment to look over the job listings, "Well, personally I would love to at least chat with these Academy guys, kill two birds with one stone and all that."
Hearing the conversation about the shady guys and the mention of the burglars in the listing, "Although maybe, we keep an eye out for those guys for some quick cash, just in case."
She then stands up and straightens, magically brushing any dirt from her, "I am feeling much better now, everybody ready to get a move on?" Ellaria looks over each and every person standing there, sizing them up. She makes no attempt to hide her piercing looks and smiles sharply to any who lock eyes with her.
Goramor hears of parties heading to several different jobs Eric had followed a few robbed members out before is another thing. However in Eric's pursuit before he had lost track of the strange individuals as they leapt and spun from each crag and building with finesse and agility. Eclaire looks at Ellaria with unbridled curiosity in her statement
"Boundaries..? E??"
Eclaire touches his horns once more as he leans over sated by the depth and texture check. She had looked at him unblinking for a few moments as he talked about a ruins investigation. As the rodent emerges from the hidden cloth of Mood's Eclaire's light up as she takes a step back. Not flinching but a bit of mild surprise as she leans her petite hand over running her fingers along the creatures back.
"Soft."
Eclaire looks to Eric as he talks about these strangers taking an interest in her.
"Strangers.. Wanting to make coin with me? So like all of us? Strangers taking an interest to make coin.. Together?"
The half orc tells Eclaire to beware of boundaries. She crosses her arms tilting her head as she flutters her eyes shut for a moment lost in her thoughts. Before opening her eyes and softly putting her fist on the palm of her hand with a moment that screamed "Eureka!"
"Boundaries like a do not disturb sign! Yes?"
The crowd discusses many different prospects and locations almost enough to make Eclaire's head spin but when they seem to be ready to get going she stands straight with a subtle nod.
"E short for Eclaire. If you don't like it, I won't use it. And if you want to treat boundaries like a do not disturb sign, think of asking permission before touching, like knocking before entering." Ellaria says with a somewhat softer expression towards Eclaire.
She then nods down at Tala and says, "Lead on Tala, lead on."
- No, not that exactly - Eric says to Eclaire, thinking she is maybe a bit too much naive. How old could she be, he wonders - Never mind, they won't be bothering you.
When Tala points that these meen could have beek two hundred gold, he clicked his tongues, even more annoyed:
-Damn it. I do hate to miss my targets. And to loose the prospect of money. Anyway, I'm ready, too. Academy, right?
He motions Tala and the rest with a slight wave of his hand towards the door to let them go first.
Eclaire looks to Ellaria clasping her slender fingers together for a moment as her wings perk up at the thought of a nickname.
"I've never had a nickname before.. It is most exciting. Asking permission? So people are like.. Do not disturb signs. I get it, I think?"
Eclaire looks to Eric tilting her head with her usual expression of intrigue with a dash of confusion. But she seems eager to be off either way following the group to Phoenix Academy. Passing through the warm yet comfortable streets of White Flame the group heads uptown. Passed the pavement and wandering crowds as they pass by a few streets and buildings to find the location written down on the poster they find their destination. A large gated academy, could probably hold hundreds upon hundreds of students! Despite the name the academy had many blue's and golds for it's palette with a red flag holding a phoenix. The academy looked almost more like a palace than a place of learning, many students had appeared to be leaving for the day holding their books, wands, notes, orbs and other oddities of the like. As the group approaches they see a goblin gatekeeper, he is wearing light armor with a rapier on his side and a scroll on the other side.
"Yes? Can I help you? Are you here to enroll perhaps?"
OOC Sorry the post was short heading to work here soon ><
Tala shakes her head at the prospect of enrolling. Quickly straightening her medium length hair. Tala steps forward to the goblin and goes into charming diplomacy mode, wondering how stuffy this place will end up being. In her experience the people that run these places are full of themselves.
No my good man, we are here to speak with a Briggid Frostclaw. Responding to a request they had about ruin studying. If you could assist us in getting to the right place we would be indebted to you.
She says with smile and all the charm she can muster.
Ellaria is taking the time to peer across the grounds of the Academy, taking in the layout, the students, any teachers she can see. She wants to absorb as much about this place as she can while she is here.
When Tala finishes her charming statement to the guard Ellaria does her best to matchTala's charming smile, but Ellaria's smile is all sharp edges and cocky confidence.
Goramar tilts his head as they speak about the runaway men.
"Cash or not, I'd agree with keeping our eyes sharp. We sorta ... attract attention already."
He proceeds to follow this motley crew, reciting the different names for himself, trying to figure out who looks good at what. And to get an estimation of who he should keep his eyes on. Arms crossed, he gets thoughtful for a moment as he observes the Academy walls. Surely, there would be knowledge aplenty, and getting on the mages' good side might be a step in the right direction.
As Tala tries sweet talking with the guard, the Half-Orc considers he might have ways if this does not work out but prefers for now simply nodding, making him look like a gruff bodyguard or hired muscle.
Mood sidles up to Eric and pats his forearm. In a whisper: "I don't know you, but for the sake of altruism, I'd like to help you find these men... is there anything we can do?"
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)
Eric stares a second at Mood, and then gives him half a smile:
- Altruism, huh? - he definitely couldn't say the same for himself -Thing is I lost them more quickly than I like to admit, so I didn't really get where their warehouse is. But it seems to me they will try to do the same, though probably in a different tavern. We would always set some kind of bait and wait for them to appear.
OOC
Just in case, DM, did Eric see something else that could help give Mood a better answer?
** In the Academy **
Seeing that the guard doesn't seem very responsive to Tala's nice approach, he tries to help:
- Come on, man. The lady just asked nicely. You wouldn't want to dissappoint her, right? Also, I'm sure Miss Frostclaw would want us to reache her quickly so we can be done with her request asap.
Eclaire thinks of helping Tala but Eric had shown the guard a request. His eyebrows raised at Tala he looks over the request Eric had mentioned.
"Please?"
(Rolled in the campaign game log 16+5=21)
Eclaire would sometimes see the women of the church bat their eyes at possible donors to the church. Sometimes this tactic had work other times it had not. Eclaire wasn't sure why it had but she decided to give a try. As she fluttered her long eyelashes at the guard her expression was still rather still almost like that of a doll. The man had chuckled a bit awkwardly offering a smile and a wave to her.
"Well.. This gentleman did say you all have a request so I say appointments be damned. You guys have a good one."
The guard waves the party off and a little more so to Claire in that moment, not understanding fully to as why this was she had offered a meek wave back.
"The nuns were right.. Eyelashes are mighty weapons. Next time Eric we shall use our lashes together."
She said clenching her fist together with the utmost determination. The party was able to find themselves in the courtyard of this massive school. Though there was many rooms and stairs and it was quiet easy to find themselves lost. However before they could do so an Owlin had approached the group. With jewel-like eyes and long white feathers the Owlin looked much like a Snow Owl an odd side in such a warm city. Offering a wave of her talon she had given the group a lookover before she began to speak. Her voice was elegant and refined and it was anything but meek.
"Why hello, I must say not all of you look like student material. You do however seem to be a ragtag band yes? Likely met an a tavern? Hoo! As do most adventurer's do yes? Well I must formally introduce myself. I am Briggid Frostclaw please though do feel free to address me as Briggid. So please do correct me if I am somehow terribly mistaken but you are here for the job I presume?"
OOC Eric may have lost them quickly but he did at least see them hurling and flipping themselves downtown.
Tala forced herself to not frown at the mention of being a ragtag group. She always hated dealing with people like this. Why was it money made people talk and dress a certain way? She reminded herself that when she was rich and famous she was going to keep taking and dressing like a average person. Sure she would have a guild with her name on it and the best gear money could buy! But no one would ever not know she drug herself there out of the dirt and she would not be ashamed of that. With a forced smile she answered.
Yes we are here for the ruin investigation. Your add said you had more information. We would love to hear that especially any safety concerns.
Eric chuckles at Eclaire's eyelashes comment, and that is the first time the group sees him without a straight face.
He rolls his eyes at the Owlin's insult, but he doesn't say anything. He knew better than to spoil the job for everyone just for speaking his mind, so he just lets Tala lead the conversation.
"Ellaria's the name." Ellaria says with a raised brow. She gives Mood the chance to respond.
She turns back to Tala and Eclaire, "Can I see the listing for the ruins? Just want to see it for myself, ya know?"
Frustrated, Eric goes back to the tavern, taking the same spot he had just before leaving. Acting so casually as if he hadn't left at all, he just says:
- Saw a couple of misterious figures back there that had taken an interest in Eclaire. Tried to follow them to their warehouse, but they were quicker and I lost their trail - he grimaces, clearly annoyed by this - Anyway, they just seemed to want to make a few coins at her expense.
