Almeric is becoming ever concerned that his leadership style, the actions of Fergus, the blossoming relationship between Cainneach and Famh, could be having a detrimental effect on their espirit de corp of the Retinue. The revelation of the power of a True Relic, such as St Ambrosius knucklebone, has enlightened Almeric in a way that no martial training and discipline could. He is certain he needs to provide the correct amount of leadership and quickly. Perhaps this is the time to change tactics?
Maybe The Saviour had sent one of The Almighties creations here, to this place, to meet them? In the midst of all this death and suffering, a noble beast of the sea, representing the natural order of things, was here with them, seeking help. Almeric reversed his sword slowly and took a knee, keeping his shield by his side and adopting the praying position he had used after they defeated the Moon Demon. Praying softly, through his True Relic, Almeric hoped that its power would calm the creature and inspire the others.
"Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You created this magnificent animal before us, who now needs our help. For are we not all created by you Lord? Are we not all brothers and sisters in your creation? I ask you to bless this creature of the sea. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.”

'Please, let us help you. There is no need for fear or violence.'
She turns to her companions, "We must find a way to return it to the tides. It is weary of our presence and will not act kindly should it be forced to stay here."
Hearing Ori's words, Cainneach has a realization that, perhaps, he too had seen a much smaller version of this creature long ago. "Itty bitty, you say, Ori? I'd forgotten until now that I'd seen a few creatures like you describe years back by one of the lochs in the lowlands. Never got close and they certainly weren't trained like you say. This beast's probably hungry. Do either of you know what it eats?" The latter question is addressed to Tana and Ori. Cainneach pulls out some rations, jerky that he usually feeds Salt, and a couple of goodberries from his pouch. He then quietly calls to the sea lion, "Here's some food for ya. Not sure what you like, so here are some options. No fish, I'm afraid." He then places them as close to the beast as he dares, then backs away slowly.
Famh's eyes have gone so wide that her pupils seem in this strange half-light to completely consume the golden-green hazel light that normally surrounds them, leaving the haunting impression of a pool of pure black floating in a sea of white. The crimson of her sudden blushes and the auburn of her hair complete the effect as she struggles to regain her composure. "By the breath of Morkaanades, it IS a sea bull! I thought for a moment it was another... Tana, please tell him I'm so sorry I upset him. And tell him the ... ummm ... the selkies of the land have taught me something that might help. I can move the stone of the wall about, a little. And if that doesn't work, I could use the glamour I called on above to catapult one of these fallen chunks against the wall far harder than his poor head can manage. I'd be chancing the Diachba with that one though, that odd things might happen again. That's the magic that brought Primroseblossom; which was good, but there's no guarantee. I'll try the other first, nothing's ever happed with that that I ken." She begins to croon softly in Old Thulish; and gradually, a five foot square of the stones that make up the back wall changes in two ways...

"There there, we ain't here to hurt ya, we are almost as trapped as you are Tusks. I think that's what I call you mate, Tusks." Hearing the question he thinks back a bit, "I just remember a steady stream of fish being going to the thing," He looks back at the sea lion, "Now what ya say there Tusks, we gonna stay mates and try and get you out of here?" Ori was trying to use a soothing voice to talk to the animal, surprisingly seemed calmer then he expected (advantage on persuasion checks with the mask). Still keeping a good spot to interfere before the creature gets to Tara if things turn sour.
The sealion flicks an ear in Fergus direction but seems to accept his presence without ill-will, as Almeric sinks to a lower position and his calm and serene demeanour continues the massive animal regards him with interest.
Tana and Cainneach try appeals to both reason and appetite, with Tanas soothing gestures and voice its breathing slows and much to Salts watchful but silent consternation the enormous jaws close over Cainneachs hand pulling up a moment later leaving the hand empty, phlegm covered and with a shallow gash from an errant tooth. It watches the group carefully as it chews....Tana gets the distinct impression that whilst the food is not exactly what it is used to it will do as beggars can't be choosers.
Ori moves forward reassuringly but stumbles and the sudden movement sends the huge bull immediately up to its full height, staring down suspiciously for a few moments before relaxing a little...its head suddenly whips around to regard the stone shifting and moving behind it suspiciously.....it begins panting slightly again but is still calm.
( Thatch....its all up to you. Though, I'll allow a roll for Salt as well... Famhs plan looks like it could work but will go much faster is folks can get into the storeroom and move some of the rubble into a vague ramp for her to shape....)

Cainneach's mind is buzzing, trying to process everything that is going on around them, including having just hand fed the trapped behemoth. After the beast swings around, distracted by the shifting of stones, Cainneach notices them as well and looks to Famh. As he suspected, she is in the throes of working her fey magic and, somehow, Cainneach is able to deduce her intentions. With the sea lion's head turned away momentarily, Cainneach quietly calls Salt to his side and says to the valiant hound, "Go ahead, try to make a friend, boy", and gestures to the sea lion. Salt looks quizzically at Cainneach, head cocked to the side, tongue hanging out. The ranger responds with a smile and a reassuring pat on his head. "You can do it, he's just like you, only bigger!" Salt almost seems to shrug and frown, but then sets his sights on the beast. Cainneach will attempt to slowly move away and toward the perimeter of the room, hoping to stay out of the sea lion's sight as it turns back to Salt, who barks happily a few times. If only Cainneach can make his way to the collapsed rocks, he might be able to expedite the aim of Famh's magic. Hopefully the rest of the crew can keep the sea lion calm!

Thatch quickly puzzles out what Famh intends to do to the back wall of the store room and he follows Cainneach into the room. Digging a crowbar from his pack, he uses the leverage from the tool to make up for his own lack of strength. He sticks the crowbar into a gap in the mortar in the wall and tries to help pull it down to create some sort of ramp to the opening above.
Whilst Salts wagging tail and barks at first seem to confuse the huge beast it soon lowers its head and begins sniffing at the dog, allowing a number of the companions to slip through the doorway and begin working behind it to effect an exit from the room.
As the other companions make way the sealion comes forth and begins slowly chasing the dog around in a languid circle giving Ori and Famh the access they need to the storeroom. As Almeric and Fergus look on Famhs magic shapes the earth that the others are pulling down, Thatch struggles to pull down the rear wall but Oris assistance brings it down....
Tana watches ready to assist if needed...the minutes grind on as happy barks and bemused rumbles and sub-vocals fill the corridors....
A makeshift ramp that could......theoretically....maybe....support a 2 and a half ton animal is readied formed of earth, bricks and flagstones.....however Salt and the sealion are currently dashing about near the the stairs.....they need to get the pinniped to and up the ramp.....

(I feel great about this plan, what could go wrong?!)
Cainneach sees that the ramp appears to be ready, hastily amassed while Salt's distractions work beautifully. Hopefully, not too well ... Cainneach motions to his companions to clear the way for the sea lion, then whistles to Salt and signals toward the ramp. Will Salt heed his master's call while playing with this giant creature? Will the hound understand, and will the sea lion follow along? Here's to hoping!
Animal Handling21 (w/advantage due to Cainneach's bond w/Salt?)
Famh draws a relieving breath as her magic nudges the last stubborn wedge of stone... for it had broken by chance almost in that shape... which Thatch, Cainneach and Ori had been wrestling cattycorner back and forth between them, trying to work it into position for a step the sea lion could climb onto the ramp by. They had been trying to coordinate her push with the efforts of the three men for three wholehearted tries now, but the floor was so rough and their handholds upon the damp stone so slippery that it took the fourth attempt to get it to settle exactly where it was needed without too large a gap the sea lion might fall into and leave matters worse than before. "Well, by the smell, this ... 'Tusk', did you call him, Ori? ... certainly eats fish. I don't think he's a raider of the dolorous tombs, though the breath upon him certainly reminds me of them. Would you think, Tana, some fish and crabs might have made their way down here with the seeping water and be living in little pools here and there?" (Nature roll in log: 21) "Perhaps we might be able to collect enough to lure him up the ramp? Unless you could explain to him what we've done, and that we'll leave the fish at certain points on the ramp for him to recruit his strength as he's climbing."
Tana bobs her head in the direction of the group, noting Salt's reaction to the whistle and opting to commune with the creature once more just for clarification.
'I believe we've made your way out.' She gestures toward the ramp, 'Right this way!'

After Famh makes her suggestion to Tana, she herself begins to look about for seafood to give the sea lion Ori has named Tusk. (Investigation 10). If she fails to find any, she will see if a minor illusion of a loud sound of fish splashing which seems to echo in from above will direct Tusk's attention in the right direction.

Famh clambers up the ramp....it is slighty more difficult than she expected but she manages to haul herself up and back onto the plaza and its ruinous surrounds, the wind has come up again but to the west she can hear the waves battening on the seawall, she begins searching the scattered rockpools summoning the sounds of splashes as she does.
Cainneach and Salt are in synch and the hound manages to lead the huge animal back towards the store room, with some mild assistance from the others. The sealion almost baulks at venturing back inside the storeroom but is reassured by Tana, it humps through the shattered door regarding the ramp dubiously for a moment.....then dug in its clawed rear limbs and launched the bulk of its immense frame at the ramp.
The struggle was incredibly loud....somewhere between a landslide and a large bovine in distress but over time the sealion managed to gain ground, pulling itself up the ramp, its forelimbs pushing it forward as its rear limbs anchored its gains.....eventually Famh saw the huge broad head emerge above the plaza and as soon as it saw open air and space he redoubled his efforts scrabbling free with an enormous bellow and taking off across the plaza towards the ocean at great speed, the huge animal paused and looked back once as if slightly puzzled by what had occured then launched himself off the seawall and into the ocean......
Almeric sighs in relief at the successful rescue, taking off his helm to breathe in the fresh sea air once again as it whistles down the hole into their chamber. He takes a moment to look around the small group of exceptional people who are the Dayne Retinue. Although they may be an unlikely assembly of an insignificant Albish Gentry, Almeric could not but reflect on the great things they had done. They had delivered the Asmore's from the clutches of the usurper Le Cloche. They had discovered and explored the lost Tomb of a High King, gaining swords or great, but as yet undetermined power. They had rescued a Tax Collector from a fate worse than death. They had uncovered treason by Beorn, Alcuin and Grissaille, managed to escape and evade their clutches, saved Aldred and prevented a wider conflict in the region. Now they have banished a Moon Demon in its own temple, completing a task started by the men of Thuland centuries before. What else was before them? What was their actual purpose, as defined by The Almighty and passed to them through The Saviour and His Saints? Being the servants of a Noble Lord could only be the beginning!
"We face evil everyday, in all it forms, but are we not here if not to redress the natural order of things. It is such a delight to experience nature and the fulness of The Almighties creation. The Moon Demon is destroyed, and this citadel lies in ruins, we have completed the task begun by the Clansmen many years ago and discharged our duty to Baron Aldred. I do not believe this place holds any tactical or strategic advantage. Let us prepare to leave. I will search these last rooms, as a matter of completeness, before we go.
Almeric turns to Fergus, the person he met first and the closest person to a friend he might have at this point. He calls Famh over as well, their new occult expert.
"The Wands we found are surely as dangerous as they are valuable. Their price could ensure a comfortable future, but Is is safe to transport them home? I know of people in Chaubrette who would pay handsomely for them, but Is the price worth the risk of releasing other demon spawn? We might just hurl them into the sea and be done with it? What are your thoughts Famh? Fergus?"
Fergus?"
