Not your best stealth work, but luckily there's not much down this tunnel you have to hide from. As you get to the edge of where the tunnel ends you recognize that you are standing in the opening you saw from the ground above the cavern crack and the steamy stream when you were camping earlier this morning. In fact, you can see the remains of your camp from here; the dead carcasses of the Dire Wolf and two of its smaller wolf companions marks the spot. Some vultures are picking at the bodies down below while other circle overhead. you can vaguely feel the heat of the steaming stream mix with the coolness of the crumbing glacier wall as the breeze blows past you through the tunnel.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Gavin takes a big breath of fresh air, and says “Dead end, but nice to see the sun again.” He turns and heads back to the room w the staircase. ((Is there anything else in this room besides that?))
I relay to the group that the southern passage leads out to the top of the crack in the cavern, that we saw when we were camping I say “this would be a good way to get out but we would need to use our climbing gear, so it would not be the fastest escape”
The room consists of three tunnels (the one you entered in from the east, the one to the south that leads outside, and the one to the north that leads to parts unknown) and a spiral staircase that goes up made of metal and stone. There are some scrapes on the walls, but otherwise, there is nothing out of sorts here. It's rather plain.

"Let's head north, then. Better to examine the floor in its entirety rather than have something surprise us on our way out." Kathra casts an eye up the staircase. "Besides, whatever caused those scrapes you noticed may not know how to use stairs, and I'd like to talk to it. Or hit it. I guess it depends on what it does."
Walking down the short hallway, you find yourselves in another 40ft by 40ft square room with another tunnel across from you leading further to the north. What makes this room very different from the last one though is that the white stone walls here have been carved and painted over with strange and beautiful frescoes depicting oval shaped humanoids with tusked faces, many wearing robes, contemplating astrological marvels.
While the group is looking around I would like to take 10 min to cast ritual detect magic. Time permitting [10 min duration), I will look around this room, go to beginning of passage going north, and go back to the room we just left to see if anything radiates magic.
“Hmmm, So is this the walrus-men’s home, or the home of who worships them?”
Kathra seems particularly curious about the paintings. "Maybe it's meant to be a history of the community?" She peers closely, trying to determine whether or not the paint job is recent or as old as everything else seems to be.
The frescoes and murals are truly works of art. A great many constellations and star designs feature prominently along with lots of circular iconography. The walrus-like figures depicted appear to be from some sort of warrior-philosopher race that is really enamored with both sailing and astral bodies. There are some pictures of robed figures looking through large cylindrical devices and mapping the stars while other, more armored looking figures with swords and axes sail strange looking ships directly into writhing masses of tentacles and teeth. Strangely, for so much sailing imagery, you don't really get a lot of depictions of water. The boats seem drawn atop and mixed in with the very constellations that decorate the rest of the room. As you poke around to look at another mural, this one marred slightly by a strange scrape, your foot stubs up against something on the ground and you hear a sound like glass scraping across rough stone. Looking down, you see the shape of a scale, about the size of your hand, but crystal clear.
Kathra seems puzzled. "It would appear there is a colorless dragon running about somewhere. Or something big, scaly, and possibly quite dangerous." She grins. "Delightful."
“Please tell me you don’t mean invisible.” Gavin laughs with a hint of trepidation, “I think Elder Merric got quite the deal if that’s the case. Could the lights in the sky be that thing flying around in the moonlight?” he wonders aloud. “My mother had a piece of glass hanging in a wndow that would put colorful lights on the wall when the sun hit it just right. We had a cat that chased that light all day long trying to catch it.”
((Meta would that be similar to what I saw at night when on watch at the campsite?))
"Not invisible," Kathra says. "Colorless. Like a crystal, perhaps. More to the point, like the crystal this whole structure seems to be made of." There's a long pause as she considers the implications of what she's just said. "I think perhaps we're in its lair."

((To group: Go north before going upstairs?))
North
North!
((Seems like we have a consensus.))

For Gavin:
Nothing in this room appears to be magical.
For Kathra:

Kathra stoops and picks up the scale she appears to have stepped on. Some kind of dragon, perhaps?
Nature: 11
For Kathra:
Exactly like a dragon's scale, though none you've ever seen before. This scale is clear as glass yet strong as steel.
Kathra seems puzzled. "It would appear there is a colorless dragon running about somewhere. Or something big, scaly, and possibly quite dangerous." She grins. "Delightful."

((Maybe? That is definitely one valid way to describe what you saw.))
Since no one laughed at Peren’s joke, he will sneak up the passageway to the north and see where it leads.
