Kathra seems disappointed by Mirabel's suggestion that the crystal dragon may not exist. Its absence from the murals seems to back this up, at least as far as she can tell. "Artificial dragons? I guess after walrus men that's not too hard to believe."
As the sorcerer moves closer to the box, Kathra resists the urge to tackle him bodily to prevent him opening it. "Don't go springing any magical traps on us now. I think I've had my fill for the day."
Thont, thrilled that everyone has now embraced his love of freewheeling life ("life is suffering, might as well live it fully"), smiles at Mirabel's choice to open the box.
Once Gavin's done with the mats, Thont wants to do something perhaps a bit odd-seeming to the others, but natural to him. He wants to meditate using the mats in the way he might assume they were being used. And focus his mind and Ki for a moment, allowing himself a moment of clarity before opening his eyes and fully seeing something in the room as best he can with an open third eye...
Insight: 10
((And he's fine with this being random - maybe he opens his eyes and looks at the box, or mural, or whatever...))
Inside the decorated stone box you find a metal disk with an increasing familiar lunar design resting on a soft, blue silk-like fabric.
For Gavin:
You don't find anything of interest under the mats on the floor. You've pretty much exhausted anything of interest in this room as far as you can tell.
For Thont:
As you sit down on one of the woven floor mats and let your mind begin to wander, it feels very familiar to you, much like your meditations back at the monastery. The room's design seems rather perfect for this practice, the white crystalline walls almost seem to soak in your Ki and resonate with their own power. All in all this was a pretty fun experience, though you come out of it without any new revelations.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
“Well I guess there are three options that we have not explored yet. Upstairs, behind the rubble, and all the way back to the cave to the tube tunnel heading north. I am open to heading upstairs if no one objects.” ((Once everyone is done w their actions in this room))
Thont comes out of his pleasing meditation, and now has a different appreciation for this place. Maybe it’s more a church of science than font of magic like he originally suspected. He now looks at it through more monk than raider eyes - perhaps the box would have a meditative object? A focusing element? (He thinks all this aloud.)
Kathra peers at the coin herself. "Seems like it. Hopefully the rest of the coins are upstairs - I'm not particularly excited by the prospect of excavating a collapsed cavern."
Thinking back, you're pretty sure it was either full....or nearly full....or maybe moving away from full. somewhere around there.
((If we're ready to move on I'll head us back down the hall to the spiral stairs sometime tomorrow after I get to work. Importantly, whoever is bringing up the rear when you all head that way needs to make a non-guidanced Perception check for me.))

“I think Peren should look for traps, before we mess w that box. I offer a casting of guidance to assist.
"It's fine, don't worry." Mirabel opens the box.
"It's fine, don't worry." Mirabel opens the box.
Embracing the risky behavior, Gavin starts looking under the mats And seeing if anything else is in the room.

"Upstairs seems like a plan." Kathra wanders over to the box Mirabel has just opened and peeks inside. "Another coin?"
Thont comes out of his pleasing meditation, and now has a different appreciation for this place. Maybe it’s more a church of science than font of magic like he originally suspected. Peren thinks upstairs would be the best option now
Ready for upstairs
"Oh cool, more discs. Let's say... the new moon for this one?"
Thont thinks for a moment... "What actual moon are we on outside right now?"

Kathra peers at the coin herself. "Seems like it. Hopefully the rest of the coins are upstairs - I'm not particularly excited by the prospect of excavating a collapsed cavern."
“Maybe that cave in was on purpose? What if they trapped whatever that scale came from behind that rubble?” Gavin ponders aloud

I’ll happily head up the rest this time...
Perception: 10
((hmmm... weird. I can’t get my dice roll to go? It’s a +4 if the DM wants to roll for me...))
Thont's Perception: 24
((Great, I'll deal with that in the morning. Goodnight folks.))
