Ethel advances toward the tower, getting only as close as she needs to in order to target a point within 90' of her that is also within 20' of Festan. She selects a point where Festan is the only creature within 20'. She raises her walking stick and whispers a line from on baby's lullaby, casting sleep on Festan.
Success or fail, she uses any remaining movement to get as far from the hobgoblins and giant cats as possible.

With the dimensions of the arena and with Festan only being 12' up in the air, Ethel doesn't need to move from the entry way she's currently standing in.
Festan begins to rise but his eyes close and his body slumps down to the platform.
The audience hasn't caught on to what has happened yet. They're focused on what Avaria and the three hobs she faces might get up to next.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Avaria hops back to her feet and looks at all three of her foes. "Looks like Festan is uh, taking this one out. Might want to just hang back and let us finish this one. Here, I'll even give you another reason to back off."
And she spins her trident around so that the points are away from the hobgoblins, but as she does, she starts raging... wanting to make sure she keeps her friends protected from the likes of these.
With the butt of the trident, she recklessly attacks and attempts to bludgeon the chest of the one directly in front of her.
The hobgoblin in front of Avaria can't get his shield up quickly enough and takes the end of the trident square in his throat. He falls to his knees and collapses on the ground.
The crowd cheers and then chants "Finish him. Finish him."
Harry Dodds' shoulders slump at the site of Festan staying down and now another hobgoblin collapsing.
The two remaining hobs in front of Avaria barely spare their fallen comrade a glance before they both strike out quickly at Avaria.
Ula looks up at Marrin on the platform and then over at Avaria. She spots the three other hobgoblins near the platform and decides she should stay where she is so that they don't have an open path towards Ethel and Adelysia, but she still wants to cause the hobbies some trouble.
She grabs hold of her amulet, smiles up at the sun and brings her shield arm down hard.
A brilliant, flaming, radiance shoots down from the sky, catching the middle hobgoblin in the middle of it.
He does his best to leap to the side as soon as he spots the light coming.
At the same time, one of the cats strains at it's chains, lunging towards Ula. The other strains but pulls the other way towards the hobgoblins.
The hobgoblin neatly sidesteps Ula's radiant light.
The black lion straining to get at Ula slips in the sand and falls flat on its face, drawing laughter from the crowd. The laughter soon turns to sounds of awe as the other cat finds solid traction and pulls with all its might. While the chain holds, the bolts attaching the chain to the support poles of the tower inch free and the big cat leaps free, its chain trailing along behind it.
It keeps going in a straight line and growls as it reaches Hobbies 1, 2, and 3.
Unfortunately with the support beams, the cats, the closer hobs and Avaria all in the way, Jan isn't able to get a good line on the hobgoblin she's aiming at and her beam of crackling energy goes wide, smashing into the wall of the arena.
Despite the miss, the crowd loves the spectacle of magic and the flash and sound of it. They cheer Jan's attempt anyway.
From above, there's still no word or sound coming from Godrick Hargrove.
The hobgoblin looks up at Marrin's insult but it doesn't appear to have any effect.
The three hobgoblins form up, shields almost overlapping and advance on the cat. Any thought that the hobs would fall apart with Festan down is dismissed quickly. They each slash forward with shortswords, each one catching the large black lion in its shoulders and torso. Working together, the trio quickly finish the cat off and it slumps to the ground, bleeding profusely.
A mix of applause and a few boos accompanies the defeat of the black lion.
Hammerdasher finishes his run to join Avaria, and without stopping, he stabs forward with his spear and catches the right most (Hob 6) with the tip. The hob staggers slightly but doesn't go down. A bright red streak does appear on his skin.
Adelysia continues to back up, bumping into Ethel and in the process manages to drop her spear onto the sand. The crowd laughs and cheers.

Things are developing well enough and it looks like Marrin can win the game for us any time she likes.
Ethel takes a moment to stall.
She turns to Adelysia, who obviously lacks the nerve to be any help. She pushes away from the woman who had just bumped into her. While she whisper/growls at her "Just stay down and pretend to be asleep," she raises her walking stick in much the same motion as when she put Festan to sleep, but this time lashes out and tries to shove Adelysia to the ground with it. If necessary, shove3
"Get off me, fool!" she bellows for the benefit of the crowd.

Avaria's rage pumps extra adrenaline into her muscles and when she spots an opening in the hobgoblin's defense she powers her trident through with all of her power. The audience can hear an audible crack when she connects. Despite using the blunt end, the hobgoblin falls to the ground and lies there motionless.
The crowd oohs and aahs.
Harry Dodds just shakes his head but then continues on through the crowd still making bets.
Ethel does her best to make it look like she actually cast the spell. She's confident anyone not familiar with the spell won't know any better but if someone does know it and they were watching carefully they'll know she faked it.
Hobgoblin 6 glances ever so briefly to the side when his comrade falls to the ground but he doesn't falter. But rather than launch into a fight where he's outnumbered, he chooses the choice he's been trained to take. He decides to disengage, and quickly moves away from Hammerdasher and Avaria, his shield keeping himself covered. He moves across the sand and joins the other three hobgoblins near the tower.
Ula, wary of the cat straining to get at her, doesn't press forward but instead moves around the perimeter, moving to come up at the four hobgoblins, hopefully to join Avaria and Hammerdasher.
But before she moves out of range of Marrin, she grips her amulet tightly and calls on the energy of the sea and waves she can feel all around this island and lets some of it flow into Marrin (Casts: Bless on Marrin, herself, and Jan).
The remaining cat, eyes Ula carefully as she moves and lunges again.
Marrin looks at the greasy pole and then up to the coils of 'rope'. She then looks over at Festan and considers if she could roll him off the platform to the cat.
((Would that seem possible?))
