Gnome's OOTA Story Thread [CLOSED]

Moving it along:

Assuming Ebzer is smart enough not to hit the slime with a nonmagical weapon will stay back a ways.

Silas fires a guiding bolt at the first ooze and hits it for 15 radiant damage.

The oozes slide ominously closer, just now making it to the outside of the entrance of the hallways.

Katryl up!

(Assuming Insightful Fighting was not successful last time, Katryl again tries to use it on the black pudding - Insight: 13)

Katryl keeps moving back with Eldeth, only pausing if necessary to maintain line-of-sight.  She fires again at the black pudding. 
(Shortbow Attack: 14 Damage: 9)
(Sneak Attack Damage, if attack hits and Insightful Fighter was successful at some point: 10) 

Eldeth also fires at the black pudding. 
(Longbow Attack: 13 Damage: 7)
(Longbow Attack: 11 Damage: 6)

(The first ooze is now dead)

The noble drow moves closer, again using his newly acquired black rod, it's purple eldritch symbols pulsating with power as he points it to the remaining black sludge, swiftly cursing it before unleashing a purple beam of eldritch crackling force against it.

Eldritch Blast: 11 Force: 4 Necrotic: 1

Khessa, still striving to keep her distance from the dangerous (but slow) opponent, extracts from her backpack a flask she had kept as a souvenir from the visit to the Duergar alchemist

"And now..." the blonde arcane warrior exclaims "This will teach you manners!" and throws it against the blob "You don't give me the impression of being too agile... let's see how quickly you can extinguish these flames!"

Alchemist's Fire attack: Attack: 14 Damage: 2 (fire - at the start of its turn *)

* On a hit, the target takes 1d4 fire damage at the start of each of its turns. A creature can end this damage by using its action to make a DC 10 Dexterity check to extinguish the flames.

Hmmm.... Dice rolls not yet available for this section... I try to repost

So Silas, Ebzer up.

And when it's Pudding turn, it takes the fire damage and, if it wants to extinguish the fire, to try the dex save it must use its action.

Ebzer, having recently acquired a magical greataxe at the duergar armory, will wade into battle, swinging at the nearest ooze. 

Attack: 22 Damage: 15 magical slashing

Silas will cast toll the dead on the pudding, DC 13 WIS save else 6 psychic damage.

Traydark's rod spell hits true making the pudding shake some.

Thanks to Khessa, the ooze is now on fire...a big oozing fire now slicks towards you all still. Even though there is water on the floor, the magical concoction plagues the ooze!

(no worries Rob!) Ebzer's magical weapon swing true...but instead of taking damage, the ooze splits into two smaller oozes while some of the acid splashes up at Ebzer for 2 acid damage! 

Silas's tolling only seems to make the smaller ooze...ooze more! (it saved the throw)

Both of the new oozes (which are on fire too) swing back at Ebzer! (both took 2 points of fire damage)

But their little pseudopods can't connect with Ebzer this time!

Katryl's turn again! (add Insightful Fighting to these creatures!)

Katryl turns her attention to the ooze which is now oozes. She picks one to focus on. (Insightful Fighting: 12).

(Shortbow Attack: 10, Damage: 8)

Eldeth shoots at the same creature (unless already dead).

(Longbow Attack: 7, Damage: 3)

(Longbow Attack: 15, Damage: 5)

The noble drow again uses his rod, unleashing a purple beam of eldritch crackling force against the closest black ooze.

Eldritch Blast: 24 Force: 4 Necrotic: 6

"Ebzer, if you want to hold the position, just keep them busy and defend yourself..." Khessa advises, excited, upon seeing the bad effects that the dwarf's attack had "Or retreat behind us. None of us are eager to have a duergar-taste-pudding for dinner tonight".

Meanwhile, the blonde arcane warrior joins the drow noble and directs one of those ray of fire she is so proud of at the most battered of blobs; then she backs away, to keep her distance.

Fire Bolt Attack: 7 Damage: 5 (fire)

In addition, blobs still alive will suffer 1 (fire) on their turn since they did not attempt to put out the Alchemist's Fire.

Ebzer had been about to cleave the pudding once again when he hears Khessa's advice, and thinks better of it.  He will disengage and retreat out of melee range.

Silas will again cast toll the dead on the pudding, DC 13 WIS save else 8 psychic damage.

(Are you all going back down the hall or into the other room or what? This actually matters because the halls are only 5ft wide, meaning retreating single file either way.)

The oozes take the full brunt of everyone's attacks, their fiery blobbines still steadily coming toward you if even at a slower rate. Like slow oozing blobs of raging doom they burn through the hall toward you as the water continues to rise! (Insightful Fight works)

I'd say back toward the room where we met our ooze friend.

(Not sure where we're at, but she with Khessa to keep moving back single file if needed)

Katryl again attacks the same small black pudding as she moves back. 

(Shortbow Attack: 13, Damage: 6; Sneak Attack Damage: 7)

Eldeth still follows Katryl and fires on the same target (unless killed in which case she'll switch).
