Gnome's OOTA Story Thread [CLOSED]

Lulu moves up next to the beholder and puts it to sleep! Then her aura restores a bit of life to Ghazrim, leaving him better but on the ground!

Drow warrior A now makes quick work of the thug next to them, with 2 deep sword thrusts, making the thug (B) hit the deck! (35 points of damage total) They then move over to the other thugs to flank with the other warrior!

Drow warrior B swings at the one injured thug who was mildly distracted by the encroaching drow and they score a solid hit to finish them off (F, 17 points of damage)! Their second swing connects with the other thug, dealing 22 points of damage, leaving them rather bloody!

Khessa and Traydark up!

(Yes Khessa, Dawn's return was factored in to their attacks :) )

The noble drow gives the gentle firbolg a quick appreciative nod for putting to rest the obnoxious aberration, then swiftly placing his hex on the closest Drow before unleashing two purple beams of eldritch crackling force against him.

Horkas saves:

(Reaction: castingAbsorb Elements.) The artificer's armor flares as the first energy ray hits him (assuming either ray does acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage), dissipating and absorbing it! His infused warhammer glows with the absorbed energy, indicating where that potential force went!! "Now, that's just downright ornery and spiteful, Mr. Eye-ball!"

"Way to go, Lulu!" Khessa approves, seeing the mad beholder rendered harmless, while Dawn comes back to life.

'Welcome back, my friend!' the blonde arcane warrior communicates telepathically with affection to the sentient weapon, taking it back into her grasp; after which, she launches herself against the drow warrior hit by Traydark's blasts, coming from the opposite side of the thug in order to flank the enemy, including anyway both surviving drow in the aura of sunlight, which they are definitely not used to - they should have difficulty fighting in these conditions...

The tall adventuress feints a high slash, so as to particularly annoy the opponent's eyes, then quickly lowers the blade of light towards the enemy's thigh.

Khessa's Sunblade Attack: 24 Damage: 15 (radiant)

(Horkas, the damage was necrotic. Take 18 points of necrotic damage)

(Khessa the thugs are not your allies currently so flanking is not possible with them. But your attack hit regardless with a 16 :) )

Traydark delivers two more heavy hits to the drow warrior, leaving them severely weakened before Khessa flashes her brilliant blade and cuts them down hard!

Horkas and Katryl up!

(One thug badly beaten, one drow warrior still healthy, the beholder is alive but asleep)

(OK, so his spell did not trigger =) Horkas turns his attention to the remaining drow warriors. "Surrender now, or we'll cut you down like wet sandcastles!" He will hold a spell - if they take any hostile action, he will release the chromatic orb of fire at the healthy one. (Held attack: 13 Fire damage: 20)

If they lay down their weapons or try to run away, he will help secure them for questioning...

With the number of Drow dwindling, Katryl stays in place still (Steady Aim - Bonus Action).  She fires her shortbow at the remaining Drow warrior.
(Shortbow Attack: 24, Damage: 12 + 15 sneak attack) 

Unfortunately Horkas's orb sails wide of the drow and splashes harmlessly off in the distance!

Katryl however gets in another fantastic show with her arrow, heavily wounding the drow!

Ghazrim gets up and looks over at the sleeping beholder and begins walking over shouting at it (he didn't see Lulu is the one who put it to sleep). "Hey you old bag! Wake up already! This isn't time for sleeping!"

The beholder wakes up putting its antimagic cone back down the way and it's eyestalks quickly swerve to Lulu seeing as she put it to sleep! (Lulu make a Wisdom saving throw. DC 16 or be charmed as the eye shades pink!)

The last thug swings tiredly at the drow warrior remaining but fails miserably!

Lulu up!

(1 thug, 1 drow warrior, 1 beholder, 1 Gharim, all injured or badly wounded)

Lulu tilts her head in confusion as Ghazrim deigns not to mention them being allies to the Beholder despite her plea and using Davra's name. Her brow furrows as the aberration turns one of its peepers on her, moon-lit eye flashing a brilliant white as she resists the effect of its gaze. 

"If yer going to act like children who will no' listen to reason, needin' a wee nap, I'll keep treating ye like them." Again, her hands orchestrate the sound of a lullaby. "I can do this all day. Let me ken when yer ready to converse like adults."

WIS Save: 12+7 19
Action: Casts Sleep again at 3rd level, getting the thug, drow, beholder, and Ghazrim (and likely Khessa, though she's high enough HP it shouldn't affect her) all in the radius and affecting 39 HP in ascending order.
Bonus Action: Uses Aura of Vitality (Concentration) to restore another 10 HP to Ghazrim.
Movement: Moves directly behind the Beholder.))
 

Ghazrim, the remaining thug and the beholder fall asleep! The drow seems unaffected by the spell! Ghazrim is then healed up some more!

Unfortunately perhaps though, the thug falls asleep at the drow warrrior's feet, making it all too easy for them to finish them off!

Khessa and Traydark up!

Katryl is a bit confused as the Beholder attacked Horkas and Lulu takes out most of the Zhentarim. It may give her pause, but she continues to go after the Drow Warrior. Again she holds her position and fires. (Steady Aim - Bonus Action; Shortbow Attack: 15, Damage: 8 + 17 sneak attack)

Khessa meets Lunaria's gaze: "You did a great job putting them to sleep - they didn't seem to be able to distinguish friend from foe. For this same reason, I would suggest not waking them up, just yet. Not until we finish this fight, at least".

The blonde arcane warrior then launches herself against the last remaining drow; she suddenly raises the blade of pure light towards his eyes, and seizes the moment of distraction of the other to try to hit, with a rapid thrust of Dawn's blade, between his ribs.

[[ OOC: I wanted to use Anator - but I can't. I forgot I had left him with the army, to be able to be notified of problems. So no Help; Khessa will just attack the drow with Dawn. Thanks to Dawn's light, the drow will have Disadvantage to his attacks, if he survives. ]]

Khessa's Sunblade Attack: 16 Damage: 11 (radiant)

Khessa slashes away with Dawn, cutting the drow severely!

Traydark's first blast misses the warrior drow but the second blasts into their back and sends them down! (killing blow)

Ghazrim and the beholder are currently asleep

Horkas will investigate the two sleeping figures for the gemstone - hoping to remove the cause of their seemingly random and violent behavior. (Investigation: 14)

 The search does not turn up any strange gemstone, but Ghazrim does have an unusual ring on his hand.
