Gnome's OOTA Story Thread [CLOSED]

Karazikar screams in a half hideously laughing way. "Fools! I knew you knew nothing! Useless, worthless, insignificant pests! Karazikar will tell you how you can help! IN DEATH!" Another terrible laugh rings out across the vast chasm...and one of the eyestalks points itself at Khessa and Traydark...

"I JUST SAID I KNEW ABOUT IT YOU MORON!!!"

The noble drow screams, almost falling of the bridge in anger and frustration over never getting anywhere with diplomacy.

Khessa is surprised to see Traydark lose control like this - after all, it's not his fault that in the Demon-Madness-corrupted Underdark his considerable social skills don't always get the results they deserve - but she brushes the matter aside, since a life or death battle has just begun...

(Reminder that Horkas gets advantage on his initiative due to the warpick of warning...hoping he gets to go higher in the order =) However, when it's the gnome's turn...)

"I KNEW they were up to no good...damn demon madness! Looks like this is gunna go the hard way after all!" Horkas throws one of his specially constructed and tipped crossbow bolts at the beholder, and as it leaves his hand some kind of propellant ignites and hurls the projectile at the monster, then causes it to explode into an expanding ball of lightning! (Attack: 26 Damage: 22

Katryl quickly grabs her bow and studies the Beholder. (Insighrful Fighting: 15 vs Deception). She then launches an arrow at Karazikar.

(Shortbow Attack: 21, Damage: 8, if anyone is within 5 ft of the Beholder ot Insightful Fighting is successful, add 15 hp damage)

She then moves off towards one side, hoping to get towards cover. 

Deception roll: 18

Unfortunately, because Karazikar is floating off a little ways there is no one currently within 5ft of him.

Katryl's shot hits the aberration square on making it shriek in annoyance! (172/180)

Lair action: The area in the tunnel where most of the group has stayed begins to get slimy, creating difficult terrain. (covers a 50ft square area)

Shedrack hisses as his master is attacked, and attempts to explode a fireball inside the tunnel where the rest of the group is standing!

Dex save 14. Failed save: 24 half as much on a success.

Lulu bursts through the smoke from the explosion on wings of pure moonlight, a ferocity on her face the group has not yet seen. She's not felt the coil of hatred in her heart for many years and it burns far worse than the flames.

But her mercy must come before her wrath. For the sake of those she cares for, especially. 

The cleric prays for her Goddess' Blessing and a gleaming six-pointed star appears on Katryl, Horkas, Khessa, and Traydark's foreheads. The one on her own glows a bright white.

Bonus Action: Steps of Night. Granted flying speed equal to walking speed for 1 min.
Movement: Flies 30 feet upwards towards Karazikar, keeping the bridge positioned beneath her.
Action: Casts Bless at 3rd level on herself, Katryl, Horkas, Traydark, and Khessa.
Special: Concentration on Bless.))

Mad with furious anger, the noble drow blasts the moronic aberration.

Horkas takes the fireball full in the face, setting his beard whiskers burning as he furiously pats them out! But a lot of the burn is transferred to the guardian. The artificer activates the shield guardian's stored spell (Aura of Vitality), and healing energy radiates from the large construct to restore 6 points of damage to Horkas. 

The next thing Horkas does is to fling a sphere of florescent liquid at the beholder, and when it gets close to the monster it explodes in a 20' cube of bright yellow! (DC15 Dex save or the beholder is coated in faerie fire!)

Dex save: 22

The beholder glows from the fairie fire. Karazikar then moves away but toward the bridge slightly and opens his eye and suppresses all magic in a large cone pointed toward the cave. He then directs his eyes toward the three on the bridge:

8: A gray beam shines on Lulu. Make a Dex save, DC 16 as magic attempts to harden your body into stone. (on a failure you are considered restrained)

10: A sickening black and green energy hits Traydark. Make a Dex save, DC 16 as the pull of death hits you. 9 necrotic damage on a failure, half on a success

4: A light blue light shines at Khessa. Make a Dex save, DC 16 as the magic tries to sap your energy. (Same effect as the slow spell, 1 minute duration)

Khessa and the veterans up

Lulu's body goes rigid. Able to Meld into Stone as she is, the feeling is not unfamiliar. And after learning from the Basilisk at Graven Hollow, she knows precisely what comes next. If this move is to be her last, she'll be damned sure to make the best of it.
