Khessa does not see anything invisible, in the ethereal plane or any illusions in the room. In fact, this room is shockingly rather bare all things considered.
(Anyone make a perception or investigation check to look around the room if you want)
Scouring the room, the desk does have a few drawers in it if she wants to take a closer look, but she also quickly notices that a part of the back wall not far from the statue, is just a bit off than the rest of the wall. Perhaps it is hiding something.
"Good eyes, Katryl! Must come from spotting the weevils on your cabbage plants!!"Horkas teases, but his admiration is evident. He stands to one side of the secret door, keeping an eye on the statue in case it is warded...
"Heh, there is also this fancy cloak I've got too,! And I'm not the cabbage farmer." Katryl replies to Horkas. "Surely you are not confusing me with her," she adds, nodding her head towards Khessa. She decides to take a look first at the desk drawers.
"Keep an eye on that statue..."The noble drow says suspiciously. "...I doubt old Gromph put it there because he thought it would look nice, possibly we won't trigger it to animate though." He continues, although keeping a healthy distance to the four-armed drow as he investigates the sanctum.
Traydark doesn't notice anything further beyond what has already been identified.
Unfortunately, as Horkas steps next to the secret door...he disappears in a brief light flash, as a magical trap goes off.
Katryl notices two things when she checks the drawers of the desk: First, it sure sounded like there was something in the drawer, but when it is pulled out the drawer is empty (perhaps there is some magic going on here). Second, a loud creaky groan comes from the large statue, as it animates...
Khessa barely has time to worry about the fate of poor Horkas, who has disappeared (probably to reappear who knows where, in some absolutely unenviable situation) that a new threat appears, when the statue comes to life and begins to fight!
The blonde arcane warrior rushes to engage the four-armed guardian in melee, hoping to prevent the fearsome opponent from taking it out on the less protected members of the party.
Dawn's blade of light flashes quickly in a low slash to the thigh and a return blow to the belly...
Katryl backs up, though choosing a different direction than Traydark. Drawing her bow she wonders if arrows are really going do much to a statue. She first studies her foe, looking for an advantage. (Insightful Fighting: Insight - 15 vs. Deception) She then aims and fires the bow. (Shortbow Attack: 31, Damage: 8; if Insightful Fighting successful, Sneak Attack Damage: 18)
Lulu's head whips round, tail flicking furiously back and forth as the gnome disappears. "Kas!?" Turning her cold ire upon the animated statue, a dark necrotic energy crackles about the firbolg's gauntleted fist before she slams it into the construct's chest. Though it is not made of flesh nor bone, even rock and stone can be wounded by the forces of time and nature. "Crumble off, ye dafty, four-armed dobber--need to find my wee gnome!"
Round 1 Action: Casts Inflict Wounds at 4th level. 17 to hit | 25 necrotic dmg (cause my d10 rolls were ballz).
