Erdan, you brace yourself mentally and physically, willpower and fortitude locking shoulders inside you to resist the unnatural decay of your flesh. For a moment, the pallor of rot hangs over your skin, but you shake it off, nearly vomiting at the sensation.
With a screech of rage, the hideous creature races into motion, its powerful hind-claws able to easily navigate the deep carpet of rotting vegetation at your feet. It weaves under Valen's beam of directed light, attempting to stay out of it while leaping into the midst of the group, trying to use the darkness and the confusion to its advantage as it claws at Erdan. It unleashes two swipes with its claws, which you only barely avoid, a filthy hand passing within an inch of your face on its vicious backswing.
Aio, with a mighty flap of your wings you hurl yourself backward out of the tower, nearly plowing through Dahme'dre in your haste to be out of the building's confines. Once there, you are in near total darkness, Valen's light now cut off by the tower walls.
Kuori, with Aesthara's name on your lips you unleash a mighty two handed blow. The uncertain footing, darkness and press of bodies fowls your aim however, and your weapon flashes past the creature, not quite connecting.
Valen, the beast is somewhere among you and you can hear Erdan's ragged breathing and squelch as he attempts to stay clear of its claws. It appears completely uninhibited by the darkness, where as most of your comrades, including yourself, are blind to its presence and must operate largely by sound. Your light beam, projecting forwards, does not currently illuminate the creature. What do you do?

Valen's breaths are measured, a conditioning of training for combat and triage under duress. With the breath, his shield shines brighter until the room is totally lit and reveals the horrid creature. Smiling, Valen charges the creature, "Run now! Run to where the smallest ray of light will never find you!"
(Light spell fully revealed for 20' bright light and another 20' of dim light. Attack: 16 for 9. Bonus Action for War Priest extra attack: 8 for 8)

Valen, lifting your shield high you redirect its light from a narrow cone into an omnidirectional flare, illuminating the inside of the tower. The inner walls leap into focus, covered in the remnants of dead and rotting plant-matter. Illuminated also is the hideous monstrosity besetting Erdan, its filthy claws swinging in vicious arcs to try to tear him limb from limb. Its single, large green eye contracts in anger and pain as Valen's light illuminates its position but its reactions are no less dull. Your first swing is deflected by an upswung claw, while the second whistles harmlessly by its face as it coils itself out of the way.
Erdan, with claws the size of dinner knives flashing at your face you take a hasty half-step backward, frantically mouthing the words of the chaos bolt. As it steps forward, you thrust out your hand and a bolt of psychic fury lashes out, striking the creature in the chest. It reels backward, claws clutching its head as its mind is assailed and its body wracked by pain. As the spell fades, it utters a string of foul-sounding obscenities in undercommon and snarls its fury.
((Erdan, because Chaos Bolt requires a ranged attack and the enemy is in melee, you have to roll the attack with disadvantage. To keep things moving I rolled for you and got a 14 (+5) which is still a hit. ))
Dahme'dre, you call the baleful eye of your patron down upon the creature from behind as it assails Erdan and then attempt to unleash an eldritch blast into its back. Unfortunately, with it your comrades in the way and the creature weaving madly, you are unable to aim a clear blast, the energy slamming instead into the rotting verdant wall of the tower.
The creature, still spitting curses at Erdan, refocuses on Valen as the source of the bright light illuminating its position. It launches itself at you, unleashing a flurry of blows. Bastion training and well wrought equipment servers you well. Raising your shield you deflect both gouges before they can reach your flesh, turning them to the left and right with alternate deflections.
Snarling in frustration, the creature turns its fowl gaze on Dahme'dre whose dark hex it feels resting on its skin. The eye emits a baleful gaze and suddenly you find your skin attempting to rot off your bones, necrotic energy washing over you. (( Constitution save to resist its dread gaze )).
Aio, you hover in the air above the tower entrance. After a few moments, you see Valen's newly non-directed light shining out of the entry way. From within, the sounds of combat reach you in the stillness of the night.
Stepping in, Kuori, you flank the creature as Valen bravely withstands it attack. With the beast's concentration diverted for a moment as it attempts to rot Dahme'dre alive, you unleash a powerful blow against its back, your blade partially deflected by a spike but still biting deep.
Valen, the beast presses you but you have managed to deflect its blows so far. Still, with your light shining, it's clearly identified you as a primary threat. What do you do?
Aio hears the fighting from inside and sees the light fill the room.
I can help... but... they might need me...
The Aarakocra dove down into the room and found the hideous creature locked in combat with Valen and their new companion. Aio struck out with her short sword and lashed out with her claws at the thing's eyes in a flurry of piercing strikes.

Dahme'dre feels the familiar sickening sense of death and decay. (Save: 9) she moves back out the door as she retches. She steps out and leans back against the wall of the tower. (Concentration: 15)
In the cool night air her song continues... "Pressing, vibrant running down the stairs Fragments dance upon the ledge"
She steps in front of the door and blasts the creature again, hitting 16 for 9 force and 1 necrotic, then steps aside to cover behind the wall.

Valen, you strike out from behind your shield, calling upon the favor of your patron to guide and bless your strike. A well timed counterattack, you manage to sink your blade deep into the flank of your attacker, eliciting another scream of fury.
Dahme'dre, the necrotic gaze of your foe overwhelms you as you stumble outside to retch, your own flesh turning against you. Your heart almost stops as your organs threaten catastrophic spontaneous failure under the assault, and you are able to cling to life but only barely ((15 necrotic damage)). Your song doesn't cease however, loud and true in the night air even above the din of the creatures claws on Valen's shield and his own battlecry in response. You channel a blast, but in your weakened state misjudge your aim ever so slightly, the eldritch blast whistling over the beast's shoulder and nearly singing Kuori as it dissipates against the inner wall of the tower.
Erdan, the creature appears weakened but not yet on death's door. Valen and Kuori are pressing it hard, but Dahme'dre is barely hanging on to life, leaning hard against the wall of the tower to escape the monster's fatal gaze. Outside, you can hear Aio changing her trajectory into a dive, clearly about to rejoin the fight. What do you do?
Erdan, calling upon your arcane well of power, you summon forth another bolt of chaos. This one is aimed true, straight at the creature's back, and it staggers the abomination, causing it to fall briefly to one knee as the bolt of pure force hits home.
The creature snarls a wordless cry, clearly badly wounded and turns to flee with Aio swooping in from outside ready to finish it off. It attempts to dodge past Kuori and escape up the wall into the darkness, beyond the light of Valen's magical illumination. What do you do?
