Dahme'dre, you tie the rope into a loop and cast it up to your spectral hand. This glides to the window but finds nothing in the immediate vicinity around which to loop it. Window is simply a slit in the wall, which offers no purchase for a loop.
((The hand can't operate/think independently, or it would duck in there and tie the loop around something. If you can come up with a way to secure the rope, this will work fine. ))
Erdan, silence greets your wave and smile.
((Kuori, going to save that successful athletics check for if you guys manage to secure the rope up there somehow. ))
((Valen, vines look far too think to just tear them apart with your bare-hands and way to knotted to easily lever them off. If you have another idea of how to get them off without cutting them, let me know and I'll tell you if there's a check to do with it. ))
(Few questions. Is there anything above the window on the roof that the rope can be looped to? Is there wood somewhere around the window I could shoot with a crossbow bolt?
If I try to burn the vines, does it look like the door or the building will go with it?)
Erdan will go up next to Valen and inspect the door as well. He will say aloud to the door and whomever may be listening. "We are travelers seeking haven from this dark night. We mean no harm. Is this not what this structure was originally for?"
(... Is there anything above the window on the roof that the rope can be looped to? Is there wood somewhere around the window I could shoot with a crossbow bolt? ...)
(This is what I was hoping for, if not pass the loop through a sturdy branch or crowbar, pass the bar through the window, perpendicular to wall, turn it 90 degrees to cross the window horizontally.
I assume the window is too narrow to pass through. This would preferably reach the roof over the window. The same concept can cross parapets atop a tower if there are any.)
1. No, there's nothing above the ledge a crossbow bolt would stick into. Nor would I advise having Kuori or Valen in full armor climb a rope secured by nothing but a crossbow bolt in a window frame. 2. You're not a structural engineer or a firebug, but if you're careful you could likely burn off the vines without having the fire spread to the door. Might just need to be vigilant and douse it if it looks like it's getting out of hand. Obviously depends on the method too, if you throw oil all over everything and hit it with a fire-spell, all bets are off. ))
Dahme'dre: 1. >> "if not pass the loop through a sturdy branch or crowbar, pass the bar through the window, perpendicular to wall, turn it 90 degrees to cross the window horizontally."
This would work, if you picked something solid enough not to break under your weight.
2. You could probably squeeze through the window if you got up there. Would be a tough fit for the bigger party members and require a bit of squirming, but if someone was already inside to help pull people through, hand off gear etc it looks doable, even for Kuori and Valen. ))

Dahme'dre offers to take a shot at the vines. Expecting to fail, she slashes a vine with Green-Flame Blade. If that doesn't do it she'll search for an appropriate cross beam while the others work on the door. (Attack: 4 for 3 piercing and 3 fire)
Dahme'dre looks around for something solid, but thinks the best bet would be forged steel, a hammer, crowbar, or an axe would do best. If none are available a solid bit of wood could do. (Search: (4)8)
If he gets no response from his statement to the door, he will say to the door again "I guess no one is home. We are coming in."
He will then take out his waterskin. He will use some point blank fire bolt spells to start burning the vines. If it looks like the door is starting to catch, he will pour some water on it.
"I've got a couple axes here. I could use them to chop the vines."
Kuori rummages through her pack until she finds them.

As Aio lurks around the back of the group looking sullen and clearly hoping no one remembers she can fly, Dahme'dre, you slash at the vines with a flame-wreathed blade. Unfortunately, the cut does not burn deep enough nor the fire burn hot enough to either slice through, or burn the vines.
Erdan, you stand before the door with one hand outstretched toward it and the waterskin held ready in the other. One after another you unleash balls of tightly controlled flame at the vines. The first had no impact, but by the second the dead vines begin to singe and smolder. Burning away. The door, though ancient, proves generally fire resistant and the waterskin proves unnecessary.
Kuori, you work your axes in time with Erdan, striking at vines the fire weakens to chop them away.
Your task is slow, and loud, the sound of fire bolt and axe head slamming into the dead plant matter clearly heard for some distance. After a few minutes however, you manage to clear enough of the vines to potentially open the left-hand door enough to pass.
Dahme'dre, your search yields no branches nearby, but fortunately Erdan's crowbar is likely a better option anyway. It takes you a few moments to properly will the mage hand through the complex maneuvers required to lever the crowbar, with rope looped around it, through the narrow window and then rotate it, but eventually you manage. The rope dangles down the tower, pooling at you feet. An experimental tug shows it to be securely held.

Kuori, with a flex of your arm you are able to pull the door open, the creak of ancient hinges an ear-piercing screech.
The first thing that hits you all is the smell. Earthy but laced with decay, the pungent smell of vegetation which grew, died and became fodder for fresh growth in turn, over and over again, bursts from the tower. Within the light of Valen's spell, row upon row of plants is revealed Within, a thick carpet of rotting vegetation rises almost to ankle height. Gigantic fungi burst through in places, growing directly out of the tower's stone floor or along its inner walls.
The temperature is stiflingly hot, the sheer biomass of the plant-matter creating a hothouse effect. Perspiration hangs on the walls, dripping down onto the biomass and occasionally onto your heads.
The only part of the floor not coated in vegetation is a trapdoor of steel beneath the staircase which winds its way up to the tower's second floor. This heavy iron door is clear of plants and covered in deep scratches, as if something with powerful claws had attempted to tear its way through.
Erdan, as you enter you sweep your darkness piercing gaze over the room and, in a corner untouched by Valen's light just to the left of the party, you are startled by a monstrosity. Humanoid in size, with molted brown skin and spikes emerging from its flesh, it crouches in a squat, clawed feet and hands digging into the rotting vegetation beneath it. A fanged maw, bristling with unnaturally long teeth curves in a rictus mockery of a smile and a single large, glowing eye stares out at you. As you lock gazes with this creature, you feel a dread miasma settle over, as if your skin were attempting to rot off and decay off your bones.
