"Any caps given are a temporary form of clearance. As such once any personal with caps leave the area, they shall surrender their cap to the security checkpoints. I would not worry about size as we give the same for all, even our beholder visitors. The stores are actually located the floor above. Speak with our quartermaster Mister Blip to spend your voucher. I advise you use the full amount as we shall not give your the remainder. He shall also provide any corps cadet their free weapon or armor of choice while there."
She pauses for a moment as hear a gong sound out, followed by a magical voice speaking a bit loud,
"All purple rank security officers report to the Sky Dock for docking inspection."
She turns away for a moment as she passes a thick file of papers towards one of her colleagues who hurries for the stairs up.
Warren looks at the cap, wondering how he'll be able to wear it without stabbing a hole through it like the one he currently has on his head. He looks back up as the thri-keen continues talking. He nods as she explains the vouchers and smiles as he almost suggests they go to collect their free item but he's cut off by the gong. "What's all that about? He asks, "Is somthin wrong?"
Zaridil will tag along with Beshlog, looking to strike up a conversation with the imposing goliath. "From what I've gathered, you are a black sheep of sorts... what drove you to take up Spelljamming?"

Beshlog smiles in a friendly way at Zaridil's words. He's more than happy to chat with his new companions.
"I guess you could say that," the giant says. "My people have never understood magic... and they feared what they didn't understand. But when I was a child I found some ancient magic runes in a cave that caught my interest and got me looking everywhere to find out more about this mysterious power. Could even say it became an obsession that sort of drove a bit of a wedge between me and the rest of the tribe. Then a few years later a crew of spelljammers landed on our planet and I jumped at the chance to join 'em since I figured I'd learned everything my little rock of a planet had to offer. What about you?"

There's no subtle hints to whether she's telling the truth or not. She portrays no nervousness when she answers it nor any signs of unease when the gong went off. In fact she kept working through it, even though her attention was more fixed upon your group. And with her way of communication, its hard to tell if there's a stutter or falter in her voice.
You all head upstairs and follow the hallway. Only a couple other rooms were open, but some were bare. One room had these odd species of what appears to be birds but they waddled about, they were conversing with each other along with a giant hamster that seemed to be carrying cargo. As you head to one of the bigger rooms, you see a automaton of some sort stand behind the desk, it sported a copper mustache and a dapper bowler hat.
"And that right there..." Zaridil chuckles, biting down on the shell of a nut, "...is what I find fascinating about you wizardly folks. Never content with the mundanities of life, always in search of greater power. I've always wondered whether excitement is the driving force behind your dedication, or simply the accumulation of knowledge?"
He pauses for a second, then adds: "Oh, you know... death of a loved one, quest for solas, that sort of thing. Have you ever heard of terraformation?"

Warren also wonders if the Thri-keen is telling the truth, however he does not question her. The higher ups, know what they are doing. Best to just let them do their job. Unless they start to seem incompetent that is.
He follows the others to the shop. Upon seeing the automaton, he approaches the desk, "I'm guessing you are Mr. Blip?"
"Yes, we wizards are definitely a curious bunch," the giant says. "Knowledge and excitement drive me in equal measures if I'm being honest... as for your second question, I actually haven't heard of terraformation, though based on your tone I'm going to guess it's something that you don't have a pleasant history with."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
By now, Mirelda was taking everything around as a natural part of this place, the people, the events - nothing seemed to be surprising. The automaton was not that far from the Thri-kreen to see him any different. She stopped behind Warren waiting for her turn to present the voucher and glancing around in the hope to spot something interesting for future spending.
The autognome nods their head, "Yes, yes, Mister Blip at your service. I suppose you all are new cadets? Here to spend your voucher or are you all corps looking for your free item?" He asks.
The room is very clean. Despite that, there's a small machine whirring about on the floor. It seems to automatically clean anything as it starts to slowly clean Muck's trail. In other parts of the room are work desks with a few supplies that allow for smithing, woodwork, and leather working. There's a couple other stations but seems to be for the more precise matters. As you see a blue uniformed cadet work upon a ring, inlaying a small gem.
"Greetings, Mr. Blip" Adam answers, "Indeed. I, myself, would like to know more about the "free item" for Corps cadets and the items purchasable with the 50g voucher. If you happen to have apotion of healing, I would like to purchase as many as I can with the voucher. Is the "free item" more for weaponry, armor, or perhaps something else?"
"I second the question about the free item," Beshlog says. "But mostly I'm here to buy stuff... Potions of healing sound good to me, if you've got any... maybe some throwing darts... and if you've got any magic items that can be bought with a 50-gold voucher, I'm interested."

"We give a free item for our corp cadets since the spelljammers get to have a class dedicated for them. A free weapon or armor helps to show we have no favoritism at the academy. I mean our founder is a rogue, he can't even pilot a ship. Anyway, the free item can even be magical, as long as it common. So a Moon-touched maul or a gleaming breastplate is okay to ask for."
"And for a health potion, that'll take up your whole voucher for one. Darts are 5 copper a piece. And for magical items, well with 50 gold, you can buy a common magical item, a single one out of the few that are 50 gold. The uncommon ones run up about 100 to 500 gold pieces. Anything higher than that is for sailors or officers."

She shakes her head,
"No, just with the heightened security, they require the security officers be present during visitor docking. Apologies if it startled anyone."
She gives a bow of her head,
"But if there's nothing else, I will have to excuse myself. I must prepare for a hadozee dignitary that will be coming in the following week."
"Well, that's a relief," Beshlog says as he puts the cap on. "Let's go see what they've got at the shops."

"Yep, my friend Adam said it all," Warren replies to Mister Blip, "I'm also here to see about this free item, and what i can buy with my 50gp."

“Free does have a certain appeal about it.”
