After it hit the sand, Mordred quickly slices through the squealing wormling before it has the chance to burrow back underground. Once again he feels the ground move beneath him and he jumps out of the way just as Tamara cast's Fire bolt on the mound that had formed where the paladin had been standing. Searing sand scatters through the air, and the shear force of the bolt sends the worm flying along with it. Once it's exposed, Tamara easily dispatches it with another quickened fire bolt (bonus action redirected). Jack, Jumble, Rethan and Nygil continue to struggle against their blindness.
As this happens, Kashika watches what she can with irritation. Will these fools get themselves killed like her last group? As soon as she pulls the star out she notices something.
Kashika
The star's give off 20ft of light, but they also protect you against blindness. (As long as you are holding it, you don't have to make the Dex check against blindness.) Using this as a spell component gives you advantage on attacks against the worms.
Watching the sand, she is able to make out a mound forming near Tamara. Casting Levitate, the creature bursts from the sand, squirming against the unseen force holding it airborne. It squeals, and squirms more violently when the light of the star hits it, though it does not appear to be hurt. (Con save 7)
Kashika, Nygil, and Mordred need to make acrobatics checks. (Nygil at disadvantage) Everyone who's notblinded can make perception checks.
Jack, Nygil, and Rethan all have one successful check towards curing the blindness.

I'm keeping initiative for these enemies a secret for now. You don't know how many of them there are.
Kashika noted the effects as she discovered them, but preventing blindness was not the same as curing it.... but she decided to shout anyway ... just in case. It seems that these s-stars .. if you hold them keep you from going blind... they may ALSO .. ad I-i emphasize MAY cure it! if you're blind, atleast try touching them! she keeps the part about it granting advantage to herself.
As Kashika creates her illusion, Zalten stands back to allow her some space as she casts her spell. It's certainly not a type of magic he'd ever been able to use himself, but he's seen things like it before, even if it's not within his own repetoire. As the image began, he marveled for a moment at this world Kashika was depicting, visibly that of her homeworld but of a place so clearly different from his own. As the story continues though, that wonder quickly fades into stunned silence, his skin growing more pale, though it's barely noticeble with his already grey features. He looks visibily horrified at what Kashika has gone through, and after a moment, a sort of resolve washes over him and his eyes fill with a deep sadness, though no tears emerge, his eyes too faded in his current state for that. Taking a deep breath, he replies:
"No tyrant that casts her own child out into the cold to be tormented for so long and calls her back only when she is of use should be allowed to stand. I cannot in good conscience take a crown back to a being that horrid or allow her to hurt anyone again as she has hurt you. If you truly beleive that you can manipulate whatever magic it is that dictates the rules of this place and acheive the revolution you describe, then you have my full support. I will help you liberate this place"
For DM only: (also before sandstorm):
Having composed himself enough to respond to what Kashika has shared with him, Zalten is shocked at what came out of his mouth. Is this what he truly beleives, or did he just lie without ever really stopping to think about it? His mind begins racing:
"What Kashika has gone through is horrid, and I've spent my whole life trying to help those that have suffered like her and punish people like those have have tortured her for so long. Is has always been my mission to rid the world of those who abuse others for their own gain and minimize the torment of the already suffering. This should be simple, so why isn't it? Kashika has been wronged both by those in her world and by Cyra, so I must defend her. To fail to do so would go againt everything my god has taught me and would forsake the mission that has driven me for so long
But to hand her the crown, depose two rulers, and directly involve myself in this realm's political disputes would defy those teaching as well. Cyra has used her, caring only for Kashika's usefulness to her, but Zoran? What reason do I have to depose him? Even if I did prove he is a tyrant as well, would my god see that as acceptable? I must help her, but does that warrant toppling an entire government? He simply would not approve of me taking such extreme measures to help one tortured soul"
In this moment of conflict, realizing that both failing to help Kashika and fully supporting her plan would likely lose him the favor of his diety, doubt begins to seep in, and he begins to wonder:
"Can Kashika even accomplish what she promises? If I hand her that crown, possibly even having to oppose others in this group to do so, would she even really be able to alter the spell that determines the rules of this place as she says she would be? Would deposing Cyra and Zoran ruin my only chance to return home? Would my god rather have me come back or possibly lose that to follow his teachings?"
In this moment of desperation, he prays silently, hoping naively for any sort of sign from his god, but all he is met with is deafening, soul-crushing silence. Then a darker thought comes to his head: "Perhaps he does not care at all that I am gone. Perhaps he has not even noticed. Why care about what he will think or what his teachings say when I should just care about ensuring I can escape this hellish place?"
He shakes the thought off and tries to dismiss it as silly, but he can't get that last question out of his head. He takes comfort in knowing he may not have to decide what to do with all of this until he reaches Dawn, and there are likely many dangers between here and there. For now, his rather short response to Kashika will have to do, and he resolves to support her, at least for now, until he's had more time to think it all over. Before he can think more, he whips around to notice the rushing sandstorm, and hunkers down for the impact of the storm
Back to the present moment:
Seeing Kashika aim some sort of spell at the ground only a little bit in front of him, Zalten recoils as a horrid wormling bursts from out of the sand, writing as it levitates in the air. He instinctively takes out his bow and fires a shot at it, hoping to destroy it while Kashika has forced it out of the ground
Attack: 22 Damage: 7 Sneak Attack (from Kashika being within 5ft of it): 8
(OOC: If the wormling is dead before I get a chance to shoot it, I will simply ready this action)
Kashika holds her star out as she yells to her companions. Perhaps her revelation will aid them, perhaps not. As she does this she is able to maintain hold of the struggling, squealing worming, floating in front of her.
Zalten takes this opportunity to shoot a bolt strait into the creature's head, thus silencing it's screams.
Zalten:
You suddenly feel a faint tug at your mind, it's aura is familiar and comforting. It's warmth spreads though your body, heating your very soul. You hear a faint voice, "Cannot reach.... don't lose hope....Unsure--" The voice sounds distant, it's words hard to make out, almost as if it's speaking through layers of fabric. "Child....wronged....help the....---sguided." The words become harder and harder to understand until it fades completely. The last words you hear are "Return." and "Not forsaken."
While the voice is gone, the warmth lingers for a moment clinging to you as long as it can. (Inspiration)
Rethan digs out one of his stars, holds it up next to his head and---he's still blind.
Rethan:
Well you can't get blinded again... You also have advantage on attacks against the worms. (Though in your current state it just negates your disadvantage from blindness.)

Mordred had heard the young Kobold shout out, despite the two clashing yet again he was surprised to hear her offering some advice. He'd have trusted her plan, had she been willing to share it or tell him that she would trust him in return. That however hadn't mattered what mattered was here and now. Mordred began to pat himself down hoping he had kept the stars from the water he drank before. "Damn it.. Don't tell me I left it behind.." Mordred had turned to see Nygil was falling into the sand. Panic had entered his face, the same way it had when Kashika had been attacked before but this.. Looked more dire. "You have to protect them." A voice.. No a memory in his mind, he had yelled out at Nygil.
"H-Hold on! I'm coming! As soon as I am able!"
Mordred had managed to cut down one of these worms in his two strikes from before but would he be able to make it to Nygil? Does Mordred have any stars left for when he grabbed some water in his hands?
Mordred is 5 feet away from Jack. I wish I could say he'd offer a hand to Jack but now with initiative rolled do I have to wait for my turn?
Nygil blindly struggles against the wormling pulling him downward, failing to pull his leg free. He is now knee deep in sand. (Roll another strength save.)
(Holding Jack's action until his turn. Yes he will roll strength unless Nygil manages to get out.)
Jack:
Sorry! The star does not cure blindness! But it will prevent you from being blinded again, and it give you advantage when you make an attack against the worms.
Mordred manages to find the single star he had obtained from the River of Darkness. Holding it up, he sees the loud elf being yanked under the swirling sand, but before he can rush to his aid, the paladin feels something latch onto him, threatening to pull him down as well! (Strength save!)
Nygil has two med checks for being cured.
Jack and Rethan both have one check for being cured.
Nygil, unsure of who's grabbing him, reaches blindly towards the individual just before he is yanked...under the sand? He can't tell for sure but that's sure what it feels like. He tries to speak, but sand gets into his mouth...yup he's under the sand. Panicking a bit, he realizes that he won't be able to breathe if he gets to deep...
