(Wow, a crit fail than a nat 20. lol i'm going to have to go with the crit fail since that one was rolled first.)
Jumble, thinking he already knows exactly what is in this room, walks right in without a second look and points out the writing on the floor. The rest of the party, actually taking the time to look around, notice the build up of dust around the room...and the fact that some of it has been disturbed recently.
Devona immediately notices this, and can even see footprints scuffed into the fine dust and sand. Footprints clearly left from a being with hooves. She also notices some areas where the sand looks as if something heavy was dragged across it, presumably by whoever left the prints. Oddly enough, the tracks do not start at the hallway the party just left. Instead, they start at the wall directly across from the wall with the hidden door. Upon closer inspection, the eledrin notices some faint black singe marks on that wall and on the floor right where the footprints start. From there, the tracks lead down another hallway (where Ichabod had to turn around) then appear to come back and end at the wall with the hidden door.
Jumble looked up in confusion, then blinked. He'd missed quite a bit, apparently. Still... he couldn't help but smile. "Maybe we'll run into some living minotaurs?" he suggested, trying not to sound too excited at the prospect.
Kashika thought to herself for a moment as they went in, as Jumble had ignored her request in the direct manor, but given this area... it likely was the area he mentioned. As everyone speculated on how alive the creatures may or may not be, she says to everyone. We may or may n-not need to ask anyone for help. Let me t-try something... she says, as she squares up on the door. She prepares to weave a spell. Whether it would work or not was up to fate, but it was worth a try. What good was magic if it couldn't fill in where mundane means failed? Regardless, they'd read the message, so it wasn't as if they would miss out on that.
Regardless. Kashika weaves her cantrip.... lobbing a glob of acid at the wall, then several more, just beyond the message or wherever the 'door' was at. Continuing this for about thirty seconds (roughly 5 casts) to see whether it had any effect or not.
Kashika lobs several blobs of acid at the south wall. At first, it seems to be doing...something. Smoke spirals towards the ceiling as the Acid burns through the sand. However, as it slides down the wall, it becomes apparent that all it did was melt the dust and sand away. It did a fantastic job at cleaning the ancient wall, you can now clearly see the indents outlining the large door.
Once the acid hits the floor, it slides across it, then settles inside the letters on the floor, burning the sand out and seeming to emphasize the words.
(Another description of the room. You entered through the west hall, the hidden door is on the south wall, the singe marks are on the north wall, and there is another passage on the east wall. The hoof prints start on the north wall, then lead through the east passage then come back out and end at the south wall.)
Jumble nodded as Kashika's acid clarified the outline of the southern wall's door. The bard briefly contemplated casting a ritual, but then just announced, "I'll check for magical traps" as he cast the spell normally--he really didn't feel like waiting around several extra minutes, and besides, it wasn't like he couldn't spare the magical energies.
" 'I've got plenty of magic left!' -- famous last words, I'm sure," he thought as he finished his casting.
(( Casting Detect Magic to see if there are any magical auras in the room. ))
Jumble can sense some abjuration magic on this wall, be gets a faint feeling that there is magic of another sort beyond the wall, but is unable to pinpoint what it is. The stone wall likely blocking his ability to sense what magic is inside.
"Hmm. There's abjuration magic affixed to the wall. There's also something beyond it, but... sorry, I can't get a good reading on that. Still, the door itself isn't tied to any evocation or necrotic magic, so at least it shouldn't hurt us if we try to open it."
Devona nods and scratches her head to relieve an itch from all the sand and dust. "Well I suppose then there's only one way to find out. Let's move the door!"
Nygil scans the area, eyes sparkling as he takes in the scorch marks and then as he watches Kashika bombard the door with acid. ..****y for the acid to run down into the words he can't read.
"Hey... can any of you tell me what those words say?" He chuckles, "I don't know draconic."
As everyone prepares to try and get through the door one way or another, he turns his attention to the passage with the scorch marks. "You know... if we can't get through this door, we could see if there is another way in." He gestures to the passage, "Anyone want to take a peek that way?"
"Hey... can any of you tell me what those words say? I don't know draconic."
"Oh, ah, of course," said Jumble, at bit embarrassed that he had just assumed everyone else could read the script. "It just says: 'Seek help from the Dragons.' Nothing particularly useful at the moment, really."
As Nygil continued, Jumble thought for a moment. "We probably should head there eventually, but the tracks come back this way. It might just be a dead end down that passage, or worse, a false path that leads nowhere helpful." Smiling sheepishly, the bard looked around at the stronger members of the group. "I don't suppose anyone wants to try... just... pushing on the hidden door?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
At this point the acid is gone, and the smoke with it. Whicket had watched this happen with interest, he'd never seen anyone throw acid before. Kashika as definitely more in sync with her draconic heritage than he is. Scuffing his feet on the dusty floor, he listens to you all discuss trying to open the door, and Nygil's suggestion of checking out what is down the hall. The little kobold knows he is weak, and would never be able to move something as heavy as that door looks. He doesn't even have any kind of magic that can help them get by the door either. He continues to pace back and forth behind Kashika and Devona, there has to be something useful that he can do. Suddenly he stops. Kashika had found a ring on that dead dragonborn...maybe there is more treasure down that hallway! ...He would have liked to investigate that other room more, the one with the coffin, but he really didn't want to be left in there alone, and he wasn't about to turn around. For all he knows, those skeletons could stand back up and he would have to fight them all over again. Yes, better to keep moving forward than to backtrack. Surely there aren't any more dangerous creatures in here. Those were definitely the only ones. Plus if he could find something useful down those passages, maybe he could impress Kash---the party. Determined, he nods to himself, glances at his party, and...when they are not looking...slips off down the other hallway.

Oops, that should have been +4. not +1. But it doesn't matter, he still wouldn't have seen Wicket. lol
Seeing Devona trying to open the door with brute force, Nygil glances once more at the passageway and then shrugs before moving to join her.
