The necklace refuses to let go. Its grasp is getting stronger and stronger. Duncan begins feeling the presence of another mind intruding onto his own. The intruder is so oppressive as it slowly bends Duncan to its will.
Kasbis uses his mage hand to pick Duncan’s pocket / arm, pulling the necklace off and pulling it 30 feet away from him. He moves with haste as Duncan has loosened the necklace.

Duncan quickly picks up his weapons, putting them on his back, and pulls out his trusty glaive to swing at the birds flying around him to shoo them away.
Kasbis pauses for a second, as the thing squirms in his mage hand, assessing Ori and looking at Duncan and Aisha. He wishes to see if the Druid is still alive, responsive after being cursed in such a manner. “What should I do with it? Fling it, then shatter it, drop it off a tall cliff, bury it, what?”

10 of the 20 blighted birds set their sites on the necklace. They begin dive bombing the mage hand to get the necklace. The other 10 birds scatter into the forest.
Kasbis replies to Aisha quickly, “Stabilize Oriyas. I suspect he was being controlled, acting against his will by this foul thing. Hurry!” Right after that, as he sees the birds flying around the necklace being held out 30 feet away by the mage hand, Kasbis casts shatter to envelop a 10 foot radius sphere centered on the necklace, hoping to get it to explode and take out as many of the birds with it as he can.
Shatter : 13 thunder damage, with a DC 14 con saving throw to take half of that damage, with inorganic material such as stone, crystal or metal having disadvantage on the saving throw. He tries to destroy the necklace and the birds with it.

The necklace breaks into 3 pieces and the birds took some damage, but still live. They swoop down and swallow 2 fragments and leaving the 3rd behind, before scattering into the forest.
Now its just you and Oriyas in the clearing. It takes a moment before the natural sounds of the forest comes back
