An Act of Hubris or Guile

Kasbis targets the huge bear again, hissing as he does so.  Gaz observes from his shoulder and agrees, hissing as well.

Under the onslaught of the bear's attacks, one finally breaks through and slams Duncan in the side, the others missing. Riposting the bite attack, Duncan continues his flurry of attacks against the beast.

Flustered by missing with her previous shot Aisha steadies herself and sends another shot at the giant bear before casting Spiritual Weapon summoning a spectral pink mace beside Duncan to also attack the bear.

Kasbis and Aisha attack hits, but Duncan attacks are swatted away by the bear.

Aisha winces when she sees Duncan hit so hard, grasping her amulet she'll channel divine power to Preserve Life giving Duncan 20 HP. Then with her bonus action attack the bear again with the already summoned spiritual weapon.

Nearly dropping to his knees, but then immediatly recovering thanks to his new companion's magic, Duncan feels a bit dizzy, but continues to repond, hoping to be able to hold this bear back while they take it out.

Kasbis maneuvers to the side and maintains a good distance from the huge bear.  “C’mon Ori, stop playing with us.  Stop your little charade right …now!”

He points his hand and another bolt of force streaks out toward the bear.

Aisha seeing Duncan up and swinging she's encouraged. She takes another shot with the crossbow and strikes again with the Spiritual Weapon.

“Duncan, are you ok?  Watch out!  Dodge to your right, dodge, duck and dive, like you showed me!”  Kas tries to call out encouragement to his battle master.  He maneuvers around trying to gain a look at the rest of the area quickly, also tries to assess the bear (is it bloodied?), and then presses forward with his own attack.   He considers a stronger shattering, but doesn’t want to affect his friend in melee with the monstrous beast.

The bear is bleeding from several gashes and singed marked from magic blast, but still going strong. Its hp has gone down by half.

Duncan takes a couple hits this time, managing only to block one. And then braces himself to bring some more life to the fight

Aisha yells to Duncan "This is Tough but you're Tougher!" as she casts Healing Word for 7 HP with her bonus action. Then launch another bolt from her crossbow with her action.
To Hit: 21 Damage: 8

Duncan grins and spits a bit of blood towards the bear, saying, "Feelin' good, but hoping this goes quick." He then continues with his same series of attacks.

“Ori, you must stop now!  Give it up, or we will kill you for sure!”  Kasbis circles and fires another arcane bolt of energy at him.

The bear shape shifts back into Oriyas Mossbrush. There are deep green veins across his exposed skin and around his neck is a strange necklace. Seemingly without his control his left arm summons blighted birds from his flesh. They swoop and fly in every direction.

With his left arm horribly disfigured the necklace tightens into a choker. Oriys is gasping for air.

Holding up his shield to deflect the birds, Duncan drops the quarterstaff to his side (but keeping it close so that he can quickly grab it again if needed of course) and reaches out to grab at the pendant to pull it away.
