Zephyro is a bit caught off guard by Zahira's question. After a moment's hesitation, he puts a hand on the back of his neck and smiles. "Well, it seems we have something in common then. No, my parents do not approve of my study of martial arts. They know about my interest, but will not support it at all. My whole family have trained to become wizards, so they expect me to do the same. I was supposed to sign up for wizard classes...and I did sign up to audit them so I can at least tell them that I am attending them. Right now, they don't know that I've signed up for Monk classes. ...I don't think they will be surprised when they find out that I did, but I doubt they will make me drop. That would look bad on the family name ya know." He sighs, "It's not that I don't like learning about magic, I just don't want to rely on it. Spells are fine, when you have the energy to cast them, but once you run out of that energy you're done. The same can be said for a swordsman. Without his sword, he's practically helpless. However-" He holds out a fist in front of him and grins, "I can never be disarmed."
Once out of the Cafeteria, the loud fall immediately draws the high elf's attention. Sakimoto's display causing him to stop in his tracks and watch the boy awkwardly try to hide the fact that he was watching them. Once he's a good distance away, Zephyro stifles a laugh, clearly the other student didn't trust them, but he did a terrible job trying to hide it. He glances at his companions and points in the direction Sakimoto went and shrugs. He doesn't want to ask the question out loud due to how close the police are, but he's also not sure if following the boy would be worth the trouble. They all have his number, and if he tries to ghost them...well they all go to the same school. He wouldn't be able to avoid them forever.
- Indeed, magic can run out - well, not the cantrips, you know? - it can be silenced, counterspelled ... - she nods - I understand you not wanting to rely on it very much. And of course, making your own body a weapon is a good decission. That is precisely my weakest spot - she then flushes a little - I'm so glad any of you got to see my stupid encounter with a table and a window trying to get to to stabilize you without running into all the remaining gremlins, heheh! But I gotta say ... that ponytail thingy I did? I think my uncle is going to be proud of that one when I tell him- she smiles happily. Having released all that stress, Zahira is now able to think retrospectively about the fight and she really did a couple of things that she could be proud of!
But she then gets serious again when she returns to the topic she initiated with Zephyro:
- Thinking back, I could probably have done something similar to you. But I guess I was too forthright when I told my parents that I didn't want to be a knight, as they both are, and that I wanted to follow my uncle's steps. They did name me the family heir instead of my younger brother, and now they have a son too sick to be able to become a full knight anytime soon, and a daughter that has rejected the family tradition. I understand why they are upset. I'm sure about my choice but ... it's still a bit hard for all of us. It has even ended up with me living with my uncle instead of with my parents and Tobey.
(OOC: Shield, I'm saying this as stated in your first post. But correct me if I'm wrong!)
- Geez, I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm saying all of this. We were just talking about ice-cream...!
In that precise moment, Zephypro points at Sakimoto and Zahira laughs a little.
- Oops! Did he just fall down? Poor Sakimoto! Hey, do you think we can talk to him regarding the cafeteria issue? Counting on this junior detective could be useful, don't you think? He could help us regarding - she lowers her voice - the half-orc and his blond human friend.
"Oh yeah, I do know one cantrip as you probably saw." Zephyro continues, "But I've found that I'm a lot faster with my fists than I am with spells." He laughs, "He should be proud. Your parents should be too. You saved my life after all."
His smile fades slightly, "I understand that. I'm their firstborn, so it's gone without saying that I am their heir. And honestly, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't doing this partly out of spite. My parents have a hand in pretty much everything I do. It feels like they have my entire life planned out for me and just expect me to go along with it. For the most part I do, I don't want to dishonor them or anything but... Well, this is my chance to spread my wings and fly where I wish for at least a little while. I just hope they'll go a bit easier on my sister."
He laughs again, "It's fine. We're supposed to be getting to know each other aren't we?"
"If you all want to talk to him now I won't complain, but we do have his number if we want to talk to him later," the young elf replies, "We could also just text him our suspicions, let him know what we found, and that we aren't the ones who need watching."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As they head out, Kuro debates on whether or not to take a picture of the carnage and send it to his mom with a message saying "I almost died. Please pick me up and never let me come back here." He doesn't, knowing it will only succeed in freaking her out for a while, making him look like a 'mamma's boy' when she picks him up, and then Father will be way too excited about it all (and possibly ask the principal to let stuff like that happen more often). So, he doesn't bother pulling out his crystal.
He offers a shrug when Zahira makes her joke. It's unclear if he understood the joke and just doesn't have a sense of humor, or if he just didn't understand and doesn't want to acknowledge that. In the back of his mind, he wonders what it would be like, bringing these people over to his house. He doesn't want to know what his Father will do... ugh, that...could go in some very different directions. Mom would be excited, and she'd probably start taking pictures every chance she got... that would be so annoying.
He listens quietly as Zephiro and Zahira talk about family issues. Huh, looks like he isn't the only one. Great. Now who's house are they going to go to if they have to do group projects? The monk was right, spells do run out. He failed to mention though how magic can be even more useless if it doesn't work the way you want it to. ...but, maybe that was just a Kuro problem.
When he catches sight of Sakimoto, he raises an eyebrow and then dismisses the 'junior detective' without a word. As long as he doesn't cause trouble for them, he doesn't really care... though it would be annoying if he saw that whole fight. Had he seen Kuro run off at the beginning? Had he seen the...magic missiles? Ugh, it doesn't really matter. If he saw there isn't anything Kuro can do about it so why bother thinking about it.
Seeing Sakimoto fall into view caused Zim to glance at him distrustfully until the "junior detective" scampered away out of sight.
Hearing Zephyro talk about his philosophies about fighting, a thought that had been niggling at Zim since midway through their fight with the gremlins returned to him. Waiting for a moment that seemed most appropriate, he interjected,"Speaking of melee versus spellcasting, I was wondering if I could ask everyone's opinion about something." Pausing to ensure everyone was listening, he continued, "Our group composition is such that I believe we will continue to struggle in fights against groups of enemies if something doesn't change. The way things are now, a lot of stress will continue to fall on Zephyro to hold our front line all by himself. I felt inspired by Aros, the valor bard senpai Sakimoto was with, perhaps I should follow a path similar to his rather than strictly focusing on sharpening my skills of political knowhow and influence. I doubt I can really do much to help protect the non-melee fighters, but perhaps I won't pass out over and over anymore when facing a foe." Zim's ears had turned pink at the recollection of his pitiful performance on the front lines. Suppressing a shudder, he went on, "I've also heard about bards who can create objects and cause them to fight for their creators. The point is, I'm willing to put in extra study if it means keeping us all alive. I'm not very strong, but I believe I could become competent with my rapier. Anyone have any thoughts? Am I the only one who feels like we might be a bit imbalanced? I know that it is ultimately my decision, but my decision is to be the best aid to you guys as I can."
- No, you're very right, Zim. We are imbalanced. But I wouldn't want that you have the one to choose that specific role if you had other things in mind. I'm not very sure about this yet, but I think that artificers can also become heavily armored, but I haven't really studied this deeply. Also, I'm not sure what would that mean for performance in battle - she thinks for a moment before adding - I'll give it a thought too! Of course, if you are sure you want to become a Valor bard, of course do it! But I'll think about that too from my side! - she smiles. Aren't they just starting to think like a party? That sure feels good!
(OOC: I really need to study my level 3, argh!)
- I'm okay with texting Sakimoto when we feel we are ready for it. It's not necessary to do it just now, I think.
Zephyro listens to Zim explain his thoughts then replies, "Well, to be honest, I was blaming most of our shortcomings of that fight on the fact that I blindly ran in without a plan. If we had taken a short amount of time to discuss our strengths and weaknesses I think we could have fared a lot better." He adjusts his glasses as he continues, "But you do have a point. Zahira and Kuro are definitely not front-liners right now. Like Zahira said, we all can improve on our current skills to better fit the needs of our team. I don't consider myself to be the strongest guy around either, but my fighting style requires me to stay close to my opponents." He looks at Zim, he had not seen the amount of times that the half-elf had fallen, he just knows the other boy had managed to keep on his feet longer than he had. "I do think you have the potential to hold the front line if you want to, and I certainly wouldn't mind some backup." He shrugs, "I can see how you would say we are an imbalanced team, but I think that really depends on how you look at it. We might not be fit for large battles, but-"He grins wryly, "I think we have the perfect build for a team for investigation or infiltration. Of course that doesn't mean we can't take on a fight here and there, we just need to have a plan, and a general formation based on our current skills."He puts his hands in his pockets, "I think it would be pretty cool if you pulled off a front-line fighting style, but I would also hate to take you away from your preferred studies. That said, do what you think is best, though I suggest we discuss our current strengths and weaknesses before you make a decision. Since I did spend half that fight lying on the floor, I didn't really get to see all of you fight." He looks at Trick, "Actually, I didn't see anything you did. What's your fighting style?"
While Zephyro and Zim keep talking about their roles in the group, Zahira is already taking a look at the ice cream flavours. She gazes for a moment at her crystal, as she has felt it buzzing. Ah! She has got replies for the texts she sent when she was resting in the cafeteria. She'll read them quickly after getting her ice cream.
She smiles brightly at the air genasi running the shop:
- Ahh, I was told the owner was an air genasi too! I don't get to see so many of us around here! Nice to meet you! I'm Zahira! Please, tell me you have coconut ice cream! Though I gotta say ... that snowstorm blizzard sounds appealing. What's on that one?
The young artificer looks curiously at the pixie girl for a second and tries to smile at her, but as she has buried her face on a menu, Zahira's not entirely sure if she has noticed her smile.
Kuro listens quietly as the others talk about strengths and weaknesses. There isn't much he can do in terms of getting stronger, and...well he doesn't feel like he needs to bring that up since they all know he's a sorcerer already. He honestly could care less about what their group is best at so long as they can keep themselves alive. Still, its up to Zim and Zahira what path they want to take, so who cares if their team is imbalanced? He's not about to go asking them to change their plans to compensate for his weakness.
When they enter the ice cream shop he glances around for a moment. Its been a long time since he's bothered to go out anywhere since he prefers staying at home over everything else, so it feels strangely awkward to talk to someone behind a counter...and to have to think about how much things cost. His mind wanders a bit until he feels his crystal buzz. He ignores it for a moment, knowing who it's going to be already. After a few minutes he sighs and pulls it out to look at it. Yup, just Mom. ... he frowns for a moment then glances up as if to register once again where he is before looking back down at his crystal. Sighing again, he slowly starts typing up a response.
When he's finished with that, he places himself at the back of the line and waits to see what everyone else gets.
Zephyro hangs back a bit, following the others into the icecream shop as he looks at his crystal. Standing off to the side so the others can order first if they wish, he starts replying to his messages. He smiles a bit as he types the first message. However, when his device buzzes again, his smile fades, then his face adopts an almost shocked expression. His thumbs hover over the screen for a few moments as the shocked expression wears off turning to something that resembles annoyance as he replies to the second message. After another few moments his annoyance fades and expression becomes neutral as he hesitantly continues typing.
Once finished, he puts his crystal away and adjusts his glasses again. Still seeming a bit distracted, he doesn't even notice the girl in the corner as he says, "I'll have whatever she gets."He gestures to Zahira, "And I'll pay for everyone." He finishes smiling.
Ah. Trick looked towards Zim. Was it that easy to see he wasn't exactly from here? Maybe it was. There were things he just didn't understand.
"I am."
His tail twitched slightly as he answered. He didn't feel like he had to give anymore information about where he was from though. Guarded about his original home. He offered a small smile to them though. In time he might share about where he had originally came from. It was good to hear what Zim had to say about Arthur though and even Zahira's explanation was nice. It would seem he misunderstood Arthur. He offered a warm smile. Of course they would see him as a type of cat. His ears. His tail. Maybe even some personality traits as well as his quick movement. Cats were cute. People liked cats. Oh boy... They would just love his mom then wouldn't they?
"I can see what you mean about me being similar to a cat! I am sorry you weren't feeling all that well after the fight. I hope that you are feeling a bit better now!"
The tabaxi looked towards Zephyro as he asked about his fighting style. He rubbed the back of his neck.
"I am an archer normally, but I can also fight on the front lines. I normally like to remain in the back and take things down that way. It is what I was taught. What I am most comfortable with, but it was worth breaking my comfort zone to help out."
As they were leaving his ears twitched as he heard someone fall. He turned just slightly looking over his shoulder at the stranger. He hadn't seen him before. The tip of his tail twitched and he regarded this man with an uneasy look. Had he been watching them? For how long? If it had been as long as the fight... Why hadn't he helped? It seemed the party he was with knew him though. That calmed him down a little, but decided it would be best not to just let his guard down.
The ice cream shop was definitely something he had never seen before. It almost completely drew him in, but the annoying sound and vibration of his crystal caught his attention. Annoyance was quickly swept away once he seen who it had been that had texted him. A few things about this made him happy and his tail wagged as he began typing back. Though this was rather slow going and he had to retype several different times. For now his thoughts on whatever ice cream was were forgotten.
As excited as she is by reaching the ice cream shop, Zahira doesn't really see Zeph's shift in mood after he watches his crystal.
But as she waits for the air genasi's reply she looks at the monk and says:
- Oh, the pressure! Now I really hope you like what I get! - she shares a glance with the genasi and adds - I'm gonna feel terribly bad if Zephyro doesn't like that ice cream I asked for, you know? - and she puts her hands in her checks looking scared, though she's clearly joking (OOC: just like Munch's The scream painting. Sorry, I just don't know how to narrate these kind of gestures better English. I'm pretty sure there are better words for them, but I don't know them 😂).
About Zephyro inviting, she says:
- Gosh, thanks! I'll do the same for you all some other time!
Meanwhile, she waits for the air genasi - "Flurry, was it?", she thinks trying to remember what Arthur had told her, to reply.
Zahira will make sure Trick also gets and ice cream, seeing the half tabaxi is now distracted with his crystal, but she's not sure about what he'll like. So she asks Flurry again, lowering her voice:
- Hey, what would you suggest for him? - she points to Trick - I think he's never had ice cream before and I would love that he has a nice first experience.
Zahira and Kuro were not able to leave very stealthily, however with Trick/Zephyro's /Zims guidance (Group stealth check half passed) they were able to make it through! The air Genasi had looked at Zahira with a pleasant smile.
""The Snowstorm comes with blueberry and sea marsh salt! It's got a salty sweet clash, I can't tell the secret ingredients but.. I promise you'll love it! One coconut ice cream!"
The pixie had still looked into her menu. The Genasi began to use magic twirling his fingers around through the kitchen as he began to masterfully craft a cone for Zahira! Floating the frozen treat upon her hands.
The genasi Flurry had grinned upon hearing Trick's current predicament
"Well my good lady you know.. I would recommend Flurry's blizzard for a new comer! "
As the students begin to order and perhaps sit getting to know one another the pixie looks to shrink even smaller if that were even possible.
You all must be from the academy? Are you from Larex's? Or Rising Dawn? Larex has a lot of talented caster it seems!"
OOC When the party is done exploring the area/talking I can take it to the next scene for you all ^~^
In response to Trick, "Hmm, I kinda guessed that due to your attire. If you're willing to try the front lines every once in a while than that would be great! Perhaps we can decide later who will be our second main front-liner. Either way, it would still be good to have a backup in case either I or our other front-liner go down."
He crosses his arms and grins at Zahira, "I told you I'll try anything. So, let's see what it's like."He assumes a diplomatic expression, though laughter is clear in his eyes, "If I don't like it, and you feel bad, well...I guess that's still your fault for trying to fix what wasn't broken."
"Haha, don't mention it. Take it as a reward for not letting me die."
As Flurry and Zahira continue talking, Zephyro finally notices the pixie in the corner. How did he not notice her before?
Sitting in the booth just in front of her, he sets his icecream down then turns around to look at her. "Hey, are you alright?" He gives the girl a friendly smile.
OOC For Zephyro give up 1 silver! Also the party gains a D6 Ice Cream for the rest of the day! (Inspiration for a social roll and such as I'm sure they'll avoid trouble for the rest of the day)
I shall post back after a few more post pass by ^^
Zim thought about ordering his go-to turtle, but he decided on trying what the genasi offered to Trick. "I'll try your Flurry's Blizzard."
Sitting down with the others, Zim just stares at his desert as his mind wanders back to the fight. Everything he had seen and heard since regaining consciousness the second time had looked and sounded...sharper? more vibrant? It was a disorienting feeling. This was part of why Zim was somewhere else while his team talked with one another about this or that.
The sound of a public transport (are there buses?) passing by outside had nearly made Zim jump. He could hear everything, no, he could hear beyond the sounds of the engine or the wheels turning on the ground. There was a new, a more multi-dimensional note to it. The symphony of sounds around him reached a crescendo at the moment that the vehicle was closest to the shop. Completely surrendering to it, a little mote of light flashed briefly in front of his eyes backdropped by the ice cream before him.
It really only had been a ghost of a flash, and now it was gone. He focused in on the others again.
Kuro, still looking at his crystal, rolls his eyes before responding to it. Then he turns his attention to the genasi behind the counter and shrugs, "I guess I'll try that too. ...the blizzard."Then he glances at his crystal again before shoving it back into his pocket.
He gives an expressionless glance towards Zephiro, who was trying to make conversation with the fairy. Why? The girl looked shy, so why try to talk to her when she probably didn't want to talk to them? Whatever.

Zim's Stealth check: 14

He shrugs, "I can see how you would say we are an imbalanced team, but I think that really depends on how you look at it. We might not be fit for large battles, but-" He grins wryly, "I think we have the perfect build for a team for investigation or infiltration. Of course that doesn't mean we can't take on a fight here and there, we just need to have a plan, and a general formation based on our current skills." He puts his hands in his pockets, "I think it would be pretty cool if you pulled off a front-line fighting style, but I would also hate to take you away from your preferred studies.

Still seeming a bit distracted, he doesn't even notice the girl in the corner as he says, "I'll have whatever she gets." He gestures to Zahira, "And I'll pay for everyone." He finishes smiling.

When the party is done exploring the area/talking I can take it to the next scene for you all ^~^
In response to Trick, "Hmm, I kinda guessed that due to your attire.
So, let's see what it's like." He assumes a diplomatic expression, though laughter is clear in his eyes, "If I don't like it, and you feel bad, well...I guess that's still your fault for trying to fix what wasn't broken."

For Zephyro give up 1 silver! Also the party gains a D6 Ice Cream for the rest of the day! (Inspiration for a social roll and such as I'm sure they'll avoid trouble for the rest of the day)
I shall post back after a few more post pass by ^^
Zephyro gladly pays for his party's icecream.
D20 to see if he likes the coconut: (even he like it odd he doesn't) 12
"Huh, this isn't bad at all Zahira." Zephyro comments after taking a bite of his icecream, "Guess you don't have to feel bad!"
(He says this before he sits down and tries to talk to the pixie.)
Then he turns his attention to the genasi behind the counter and shrugs, "I guess I'll try that too. ...the blizzard." Then he glances at his crystal again before shoving it back into his pocket.
He gives an expressionless glance towards Zephiro, who was trying to make conversation with the fairy. Why? The girl looked shy, so why try to talk to her when she probably didn't want to talk to them? Whatever.
