Athren had held his arms behind his back he was poised to respond to Shar but instead looked to Zahira. His gaze was unfliching as he locked eyes with the young genasi for a few long uncomfortable moments.
"You believe his altruistic act towards Shar to be of value to his integrity? That act alone cannot lead, although Shar has proven to be calm I believe his sudden choice to be a bit feckless and likely could have put the other students in danger. His lack of interest in advocating for Straus Haven's militarily to step in on the current matters in the city either shows foolishness or pointless "Valor" at best. Though a great war caster in his youth I believe his old age has begun to sour and spoil his mind and the result is what we see before us. I understand children can be fond of the eccentric but he was without a doubt a danger to the youth and to those around him lady Estesian."
Arthur had been smiling but the elf's harsh tone had set a frown in his face. He had crossed his arms glaring at the elf with an uncharacteristic glare from the carefree paladin.
"You're free.. To you're opinion sir. However, so is she and we all have our own ideas for a better future. Still we are all on the same side."
The elf looks to Arthur with a rather blank expression before looking the paladin over and looking back to Zahira and Zephyro.
"You're parents work does not go unappreciated, though I must admit it's a bit of a shame you decided to follow Plash's own path. I know he can be reclusive and not always involving himself in political matters. Though there are many situations he could certainly improve where he to offer his academic knowledge were he to desire so."
He had went to answer on Zahira's mention of his knowledge and Zephyro's own acclaims.
You are correct in those feelings, that is you're instinct guiding you and intuition both. The path to the nine hells was paved with good intentions. You are correct in the teachers, sir Nathaniel especially. I have worked tirelessly as hiring him on a family instructor but he has regrettably declined a number of times."
Shaylin looks surprised by the spell being saved for her but she certainly had an air of excitement. She looked to Zahira and Zephyro quiet but with a smile. She looked to Shar and his fur fighting any urge to play with his fur once more lest she be reprimanded.
"Good, it is a relief to hear you're studies are coming along. As for offense and utility those are fine traits for a Athelmir to possess. Leave the forefront and defense to those more suited for the role of vanguard."
OOC I left the Kuro thing for now to give Trick a chance to respond but yeah oh god those two lmao.
Zahira was tempted to answer once again on the topic of Forthright, but it seemed pointless. It was clear that was a matter in which both Athyren and her had their own opinions which were clearle opposed and ... by the seven winds! ... they had gone there to do research, not to antagonize the head of the Aethylmir house the very minute they had stepped into his house. But, jeez, he did seem to provoke just that with astounding ease.
Arthur's intervention made her shift her atention from the older elf, and also removed the unconfortable feeling she had felt because of Athyren's long look, which was replaced by a soft smile when - once again - the paladin stood by her, even in the presence of one as imposing as Zephyro's father. Arthur could appear carefree most of the time, but he never failed to show courage and stand up for those around him when the situation required it.
- You couldn't be more right, Arthur - she said, and gently touched his hand in discreet move, as a means of saying thank you for standing up for her.
Turning to the topic of her studies, Zahira raised an eyebrow. A shame? Really? Coming from a wizard? Was this guy picking on her for some reason or was it was he was simply a jerk? She kept a "Studying the Arcane can never be a shame, Sir!! Isn't that precisely what you want for your son??" for herself, because she didn't want to antagonize the man any further, and just looked at Zephyro with an almost pleading look: perhaps it was time to go to his room, or wherever they were supposed to have some privacy to study Ethan's translation. Either that or she risked opening her mouth again to reply Athren once more.
What she also kept for herself was what Athren said about Plash. What did he meant by "offering his academic knowledge"? Was this perhaps what Plash said they had talked about that hand ended badly? She was definitly going to sk her uncle about this later, when she went back home.
Zephyro stands there in silent shock for a moment as his father continues to talk down at Zahira. Cerebrum! He knew his father didn't like Himari, but why is he antagonizing Zahira so much? It almost feels like he's targeting her. And Shar! His words towards the bugbear were not as antagonistic, but still. Is his old man testing them? Or is there something more to his harshness towards the Air Genasi and her family. Maybe both?
He blinks when his father mentions the fact that Forthright did not want to involve the military in the cities issues. This sentence tells him that while his father may be aware of the problem, he definitely isn't aware of the main reason Forthright doesn't want the military involved. ...a thought strikes him, or does he? Could his own father be in on this? No. No that's silly. Athyren may be set in his own ideology and harsh at times, but he would never involve himself in anything that involves kidnapping. Would he? "Sweet Cerebrum why do I have to overthink about everything?!"
His mind snaps back to the present when his father finally addresses him. There's a lot of things that he would like to say to Athyren. Like the fact that Zahira's path is for her to choose, and the skills she's learned from it have proven more than useful to their endeavors. Or the fact that there may be a lot of wrong ways to go about things, but that doesn't mean there's only one right option. However, the young elf will hold his tongue like he almost always has in this kind of situation. He catches Zahira's glance. He'd like to defend the young genasi, but opposing his father in front of his friends would only make this encounter more awkward... So, he maintains his eternal act of being the perfect son. "Of course father." He says without farther explanation. Then he clasps his hands in front of his chest. "Well, I suppose we should get on with our assignment before it gets too late. Perhaps Mr. Nelson can have our dinners brought to my study?"
(I don't think that we have eaten dinner yet? But at this point I don't think anyone is keen on dining with Zeph's parents lol.)
(It's a little hard for me to tell what the rooms on that map are. It looks like the two rooms (on green the other blue) upstairs in the left upper corner are bedrooms, but I don't see a third.)
Zahira nods to Zephryo - a little too enthusiastically perhaps - when he suggests to get to work on the assignment and have dinner served in his study. "Yes!! Let's go somewhere else, pretty please!", she thought, or else she risked speaking again and she didn't want more confrontation. Working a little on the problem they had in their hands was going to be a welcome task after the introduction to the Aethylmir's family head!
Shar doesn't dare to reply to the Lord of the house about the principal decision of taking him into the school. And Zahira and Arthur ends the topic. Still some word from the elf still buzz in his mind. "Has proven to be calm?" Why he shouldn't be? Some of his aquicntances back in the borgh could be lousy yes, but as every youngling is.. why did he said something like that?
He stays the last one and when the others are leaving the room he kneels before Zephiro's little sister as he looks at the mother, asking for permission.
"Here " he says approaching his right arm towards the little kid " touch it.." he says smiling.
Once the little elf has touched his fur he stands tall again, reaching his full height this time and before leaving behind the others he looks to the elven noble.
" Proven to be calm... " he repeats the words " Why I shouldn't be? You know what surprises me? that a man of your knowledge and wisdom couldn't see the difference between a battle and normal, peaceful living. I am pretty sure that no one behaves in the same way, yet... no one is surprised not to see elves throwing fireballs and lighting all over the place... " he makes a pause and nods to Zephiro's mother "If you excuse me madam... I will not make your son and the others wait... "

Trick looked down at the dragon as it proceeded to throw a fit. He tilted his head slightly and let out a soft sigh.
"You are a great and noble beast and here you are throwing a tantrum."
There was a bit of laughter in his tone as he reached out and patted the dragon softly.
"Cats are more fragile and a bit difficult to earn the trust of. You were scaring him."
He explained this to the dragon in draconic before he looked to Kuro who he knew couldn't understand.
"He wanted to play with the cat, but I told him he should be careful and now of course he's throwing a fit."
