"I need those books too. I live in a different universe, but got banished here. I wish to return. The books may help me."
Same here. I was originally from a different dimension too until this letter that I'm... Or I was... Holding, summoned a portal that piqued my curiosity. Now I also want to return... Though I doubt the books will be of any use to me...

Usiel softened his expression to Zari"Looks like we could use a formal introduction." Usiel suggests as he splashes some water onto a higher ground, creating a magical circle a 15-foot-radius sphere that radiates a pale blue aura. Usiel stands in the middle of the circle and proclaims to all "I am Usiel, a second-rank knight at the Church of Watery Paths, a Knight Protector of Radiance. I am on a quest to investigate an abandoned mansion and eliminate the source of evil that lies within. I welcome companions and allies on my mission, and I offer my protection to whoever stands and fight by my side. For the sake of everyone's safety, I need everyone to say their names, the reason to the mansion, and say I WILL NOT WILLINGLY HURT MY COMPANIONS."Usiel does his part and assures the rest before stepping down. "On the name of Istishia, I promise this Zone of Truth brings no harm to all honest person."
(Religion basic: Paladins usually swear an oath to never lie or cheat)
When finished, Usiel stands beside Olum, and shields up. He gives a skeptical glare to Zari"Say that again in the circle, will you?"
(OOC: welcome to RP if you want [flash back], spell last for 10 minutes, in-game)
(Olum looks towards the others in the group)
"I have been trying to gain entry to this mansion for quite sometime but my messages have gone unanswered. I hope to gain access to knowledge of the war I had previously fought in. I do not know of any invitation, I am here on my own to try and get answers. That being said, I am happy to have companions, perhaps we may be of assistance to each other to get some answers."
(Olum stops, rarely does he speak that much at once and continues to hold his spear but lessons his defensive stance)
The Hateful Child steps a toe into the Zone of Truth then withdraws it.
"I would willingly hurt my companions," he says, "if it would shake them from an enchantment, or if by suturing it would close a wound and save their life. I would dunk them in bitingly cold water if they were on fire, and I would place a dagger in their side and my own, in a spot of little danger, if playing dead were our only hope of survival."
He continues, "I taste the divine magic in your spell, and I know you are not fey," then he steps into the zone of truth fully to speak the next portion. "But do you know what manner of creatures speaks only the truth even as it lies? It is the Fey. If you would have me speak the truth and believe it, I who was raised in this plane or a plane of similar nature, who was subject and slave to dissemblance and mastered it to gain my freedom after the loss of my name, and the debasement of my body, then you are stupider then you look."
"Still, if you need the deceptive reassurance of absolute truth, then have this: I will fight with you as long as you fight the fey, I will fight with you as long as we pursue the same goal, I will save you if you need saving, and I will challenge your stupidity when it needs challenging, as I have done, as I am doing."
Hateful steps out of the circle, keeping his back to them. His one good eye is not looking at them any more, his back is completely exposed to them. He shudders.
"I did not like that," he says. "If this land were even a hair less perilous I would attack you where you stand for such an insult as believing the zone of truth enough to make me believable. Know this truth, do not do that again."
The Hateful Child falls in behind the Genasi monk again.
Gelebor does not move from where he is standing and blankly stares at Usiel. "My name is Gelebor Xiloscient, I am here for the magical knowledge that resides within the books inside the mansion. As I do not know any of you past ten minutes ago I can give no assurances that I would not willingly hurt any of you. I do not know you, but we all appear to have common goals, and so I will travel with you all."
"This seems a disparate party. It does not work together smoothly. We should all be willing to sacrifice one or more members for the greater advancement of the whole group. I, for one, will not hesitate to die to give you greater chances of survival."

The Hateful Child’s eye flicks between the two elves and Usiel, darkly. “I vote for ‘or more’, if anyone’s asking.”
(So sorry I was inactive! I should've known that the cruise ship's internet was the last thing I needed to keep up with you guys. Sorry about that! I'm back home now so I should be fine.)

Seriously?! Zone of Truth? I don't even have anything to hide, besides deep inside the void within my brain which i don't even want to recover. Zari does't hesitate to move away from the zone. "Look," She begins as she finally accepts that her cover is blown. "I didn't come here to cause any mischief ok? If anything, I came here to do the exact reasons as to why to lot were summon here as well. I just didn't know if you guys would be hostile and attack anything on sight, that's all."
She then extinguishes her flames and places her right hand on her medium-sized chest as she catches up to the others. "I suppose I'll introduce myself briefly. The name's Zari Graceheart. pantheon of the sun god Apollo. Like all of you I was 'invited' to come and meet the lady inside this mansion. I don't bear any ill-intent towards those who leave me alone or assist me should they be willing to. But..."Her tail lashes briefly as her voice lowers. "I don't tolerate those who dare inflict deliberate harm towards me, mentally or physically, especially when I'm at my lowest point. Understood?"
In response to Olum as she too, steps inside the mansion: "Neither of us have any idea on why we were invited. In fact, if we're searching for answers, they'd probably be lurking inside this... place... that we all don't even want to go to."

@MaxDef - The small hut certainly did expel plenty of magical, almost noxious energy. It wasn't harmful, but didn't smell very good, almost like a kind of stewed mushroom dish. There was clearly some kind of witchcraft going on in there. A small amount of humming could be heard as a woman pokes her head out of her window. "Hey, could you loons keep it down out there?!" She called. "Some of us are trying to... uh... work." She was a younger lady, with long blonde hair and a witch's hat sat atop her head, laced with a white ribbon at the base.

Hateful has never been more than a few steps behind the Genasi since their meeting and continues to follow. Doing his duty, in honour of his patron.
OOC: Insight check will show he is telling the truth, he seems to be a rather pragmatic man.
Gelebor allows the spectacle of the Paladin, knowing that they do offer nice protection spells and abilities. "Good, now we can proceed."
Tanyl will walk up to the mansion as well.
