The path to the mansion, the village atleast, was fairly eerie. The scarlet mist kept you all on your toes, who knows when the fog would fill back in and drain the life out of you? The lifeless bodies of more animals, then people, could be seen while walking through the red haze. It seemed that the mansion was getting closer! A forest could be seen within view, the mansion dissipating from there. While there was no mist penetrating the fey woods, it certainly was very dark.
Just next to the forest, there was a small hut, with a broomstick parked in front of it. The hut was made of wood and had a straw roof, and was suspended by logs. It looked pretty cozy! There seemed to be a kind of smoke burning inside, like that of a fireplace, but who knew what was in there...
The mansion is just within reach!
Seeing the eerie scenery and lifeless body. Usiel's military instinct took charge, he jumped on his horse and put the lance and javelins ready, casting Detect good and evil (divine sense). "Things are not right, let me take a quick look, be on guard gentlemen!" He takes the front position, detecting whatever enemy lurks in the forest. He marches on steadily towards the small hut.
The faint light on his shield shines his way as he goes. (Usiel will stop and yell to warn Olum the rest of the team if signs of danger are ahead).
(@DM Tommo, does Usiel sense anything?)
@MaxDef - The small hut certainly did expel plenty of magical, almost noxious energy. It wasn't harmful, but didn't smell very good, almost like a kind of stewed mushroom dish. There was clearly some kind of witchcraft going on in there. A small amount of humming could be heard as a woman pokes her head out of her hut's window. "Hey, could you loons keep it down out there?!"She called. "Some of us are trying to... uh... work." She was a younger lady, with long blonde hair and a witch's hat sat atop her head, laced with a white ribbon at the base.

"I'll let the Paladin handle this situation. He seems like quite the talker."
"You do not seem concerned about the mist or empty town. That seems unusual, but I am unsure. I have difficulty predicting how most humanoids will act."

"Why would it concern me? I do not live here, and the magical wind has dealt with the fog. I am concerned with finding what I seek."
"For some reason I don't think the answers to the mist and the town lie here, gaining entrance into the mansion may help answer some of these questions. This witch may even be a valuable source for information though."

She scoffs, turning her nose at them. "Why should I care? I have a magical charm protecting this hut. And besides, it's just another one of Remilia's stupid plots."She points at the noxious, mushroom scented smoke. "That's why I have this stew brewing, it's the charm."She would open her door for the party, beckoning them in. "You know, that red smoke doesn't seem like a very place to hang out in, come inside!" She smiles, rushing inside her home and grabbing a few bowls.

"Where do these guys get all their ideas?" - TommoBoi, to WOTC
Gelebor hesitates before moving towards the hut. He speaks quietly to those around him so the woman cannot hear. "Are we entirely sure that this is not a trap?"
Gelebor sighs as the others enter the hut. He lightly taps his staff on the ground as a glimmer of magic encases his body. He then proceeds forward and looks about the interior of the hut.
Investigation: 18, roll in gamelog
OOC: He used a charge from his Staff of Defense to cast Mage Armor on himself.
Huh. Everyone ignored me. That's a first Was expecting some kind of hostile reaction straight up. But that guy is right. We don't know for sure what's inside this mansion, so we either keep our guard up, or dice with death on the doorstep...
Being her usual, I-don't-want-to-talk-but-I'll-stay-alert self, Zari paces behind the other two and checks for any sign of materials she could use (such as powdered iron, limestone or sulphur) as well as the very first signs of danger concealed within this luxurious place

Hateful says nothing, but steps lightly inside with one last lingering look outside, using his ears and his elfish senses to see if there is even a hint that things are even more suspicious than they presently appear.
@All - The witch's hut is rather cluttered, hoards of books and other trinkets scattered along the floor. None of the trinkets seem to be of any use, most of them being scraps of mushrooms, herbs, and metal, but among the rubbish, many Spellbooks could be found littered on the floor.
The witch hums as she scoops some of her stew into the bowls. "I heard some of ya talkin' about a mansion." She would make a suspicious face at the party. "Don't know why any of you would wanna be going there." She exclaimed, handing everybody a bowl of the mushroom stew. "She's a fickle one, that Remila..."

"I need to use the mansion's store of books to gain access to some of the most ancient and esoteric magic in the universe so that I may traverse the bounds of time and space on a scale too vast for any mortal to comprehend," Tanyl monotones. "What do you know of Remila?"
