Radiant light shines from the morningstar as Grady smashes it into the fiend, spraying thick black goo into the air. A guttural roar of pain gurgles from its throat as it continues to try and will its muscles to move.
Round 5 Order: Sin Fiend Shek'lok Grady Dearg <===== Ullington
Three more strikes contact the fiend's flesh but it pushes past the attempted stun. It moves freely once more, but it looks more haggard than it did before, one arm sagging and its actions are more wild, more feral.
Ullington continues pouring healing energy into the party, this time placing his hands on Shek'lok.
Claw Attack at Dearg: 13 Claw Attack at Dearg: 17 Claw Attack at Shek'lok: 13
The sin fiend, free to move once more, strikes twice at Dearg. The monk deftly steps aside the wild swings, and the fiend suddenly whirls to strike at Shek'lok, shredding him for 10 slashing damage.
Round 5 Order: Sin Fiend Shek'lok <===== Grady Dearg Ullington
Tracking:
Shek'lok, Grady and Dearg are engaged with the sin fiend. Ullington stands 10 feet from the fiend, behind Shek'lok.
Fortunately the half-elf is able to dodge the claws, and with the renowed energy that the cleric had infused him he tries to cut the creature’s knee, so they can maneuver better around it.
Grady's morningstar rips another wound open as the radiant energy flows through it. Dearg misses with his first punch, but connects with the second, before a roundhouse kick smacks the fiend's jaw as well, rocking it. Ullington chants a few words while he pulls his quarterstaff out, and it burns brightly with magical energy (bonus action: Shillelagh). He darts out from behind Shek'lok and rushes to the fiend.
Quarterstaff (Shillelagh) Attack: 17 Damage: 10
The quarterstaff smashes sideways into the fiend, leaving a scorchmark where the magical strike seared its evil flesh. The fiend staggers to one side, but rights itself quickly, striking back at the gnome.
Claw Attack at Ullington: 12 Claw Attack at Ullington: 19 Damage: 14 Claw Attack at Grady: 23
Ullington is able to duck the strike, but the fiend's other hand takes him by surprise, claws rending his flesh and sending him to the ground unconscious. The fiend turns and rakes another set of claws into Grady's leg, dealing 13 slashing damage.
Round 7 Order: Sin Fiend Shek'lok <===== Grady Dearg Ullington
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The half elf tries to cut the neck of the creature, kicks it in the back and moces towrads the entrance of the Cleanising House.

Movement: Towards the door. But he doesn't leave and let his companions with the beast. If it doesn't follow or the others cannot move he will re-engage next round.
Grady hopes Shek'lok has distracted the beast for a moment. He is slashed and bleeding from the last claw attack but he's unsure of the beasts condition. He places his left hand in the center of his chest and uses "lay on hands" on himself, drawing the full pool of divine power available (30hp).
"Good thinking Shek'lok!" Grady bellows as the glowing energy finishes transferring. "I don't want to turn my back just yet and let this devil take another swipe at me though! I'll join you in a moment!"
He holds up his shield in a defensive position, not wanting to provoke the evil spirit if he were to move too far.

Dearg slides around the beast, moving away from the shed but not turning his back to the creature. As he slides around he punctuates each step with an attack.

Ullington Death Save:16
Shek'lok strikes the creature in the neck, Grady sends holy energy flowing through himself, and Dearg lashes out with three strikes, two of which connect with the slowing creature. It is haggard, dragging an arm limply on the ground. The viscous liquid pouring out of its mouth flies through the air as it desperately attempts to strike the creatures attacking it. Ullington coughs up blood.
Claw Attack at Dearg: 25 Claw Attack at Dearg: 13 Claw Attack at Grady: 26
The first wild swing misses by a mile, but the creature's next two strikes connect, dealing 12 slashing damage to Dearg, and 10 slashing damage to Grady.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Shek'lok decides that he has gone enought of this creature. He maneuvers so he can make an attack to the demon's back and he throws himself with all, extending his arm and leg to thrust the blade into the creature's head from behind.
Hope he gets advantage on his attack for beign flanked by his friends.
He had sneak attack by it and by his class feature.
The creature roars as Shek'lok thrusts his rapier through the back of its head. Shuddering and convulsing, black liquid sprays from its mouth once more as it unleashes a final massive roar that resonates like a nightmare through your skulls. The ringing in your ears is suddenly replaced by the sound of rushing water, and a thud as the corpse of the sin fiend crumples to the ground, joining the bodies of Ertis and Ullington.
Before long, Elder Joen Rim and a small number of villagers arrive, wrapping Ertis's body and ceremoniously carrying him back to the church. Joen is dismayed at the sight of the dead priest, and horrified by the sin fiend, but thrilled that the cleansing house remains intact. He gives you 500 silver pieces as agreed upon, and proclaims you heroes of Dormay. Some of the more curious villagers had crept close enough to witness the fight, and the story of the battle between three holy warriors and a fiend made of sin quickly becomes a local legend, once again sparking an interest in tourism to see the cleansing house.
OOC: This is the end of Penance For Sin, so feel free to roleplay the epilogue for your characters as you see fit. Thanks for playing, and keep your eyes peeled for my next adventure!
(OOC) Man I was getting worried there for a little while that the Fiend was going to get a TPK.
Dearg carrys Ullington's small form back to the town to get him the help to save him. He stays a few days in town recovering and making small talk with his new friends. One morning a small pile of coins to settle his bills are all that is left in his room.
Shek’lok sights when the fiend finally dies. He checks the priest and finding him beyond any aid he helps his wounded friends.
The rest couple of days he spent in the village, talking with Elder Joen and his comrades.
He visit the cleanising house a couple of times, and search the zone near it in search of the bodies of the missing people.
He takes the belongings of the stranger and he takes it to the militia post at the city, once he returned there two days later, and inform that the wanted criminal is no more. He then comes back to his house and stares out of the window, asking to himself when will his next case would start.
That was fun! And I too saw a TPK back there... :)
Grady spends the days after the battle searching for the missing men, hoping they would turn up after the fiend was defeated.
He offers his time to anyone who needs to talk and pray about the events that occurred to their town. He helps lots of the townsfolk slow down their alcohol consumption and starts making bonds with them. He decides to stay in the town as their temporary priest, just until the replacement shows up.
He eventually falls for the barmaid and they make a life together. She understands that Grady may have to leave for seasons at a time and they agree- that life is better than one without each other. He keeps in touch with his birth home and wonders when, if ever, he will get a letter calling him away...
((Thanks Barty!! I would love to join you on another adventure!!))
