(Did anything come from the bird that landed on Corric's head? Did I miss something?)
That was kind of a joke. I got kind of bored at home, so I decided to either land a bird on your head or have a mouse crawl up Rain's leg. I still like the mouse idea though...
(KingOrc: At the beginning of the encounter, you said, "There is also another group out in the distance."
Is that distant group still there?
Can we tell whether that distant group is another troop of goblins and orcs?
Are the fleeing goblins joining that distant group?
Does that distant group remain where it is, or does it start moving? If it's moving, does it look like it's heading toward the city, back toward the temple, or somewhere else?
There is still a group there, be they don't seem to be moving towards us. But they are clearly gathering.
(OOC: when you said that the orc was "pulled down by the guards," do you mean that he was tackled and captured? If so, the party may want to speak with him.)
He was tackled and is being brought through the gates.
Jorzaeramon seems a bit shaky and unsettled after the fight. Once he's sure that there is no threat of an immediate attack, he sees the body of the goblin that was thrown by the ogre. He checks the goblin to make sure that it's really dead. (If it's dead, he'll search the body for clues or any useful equipment. Investigation16))
The goblin is dead and has small leather armor, a spear, and a hidden knife.

Rain checks with the party, "Is everyone OK? No one injured?"
He says, "We beat back the attack. The attack forced our hand, but now we are free to decide. We could go back to the castle to regroup and give Salchar a chance to check that library. But the orcs and goblins are fleeing into the desert, and we have an opportunity to follow them if we go before the winds cover their trail. They may lead us back to their closest camp or stronghold."
"And there's also that other group," he points to the other group that's still gathering in the distance. "I'd like to get closer to that group to see whether we can identify them. More goblins? Or an unrelated force that's preparing to attack?"
(OOC: when you said that the orc was "pulled down by the guards," do you mean that he was tackled and captured? If so, the party may want to speak with him.)
He was tackled and is being brought through the gates.
Jorzaeramon confirms that he is unharmed, but he is not enthusiastic about going into the desert. "I came with you to the wall to ensure that you didn't get lost in the city, but I shouldn't think that you'd need my assistance anymore if you are heading into the desert."
Rain nods as though agreeing but says, "Yes, you have a way with words, tiefling. We should at least speak with this orc that they captured before we decide what to do next. Come!"
While they talk and discuss next steps, Rain will lead Jor and any of the others who will follow down, off the wall, and to the city gate. He'd like to be there when they bring the orc into the city.
The goblin is dead and has small leather armor, a spear, and a hidden knife.
In Jor's experience, many fighters keep a hidden knife or dagger, but he also remembers that the human guard back at the noble's house had a hidden knife in his boot. Is there anything in the style of knife or its sheath that would link that would link the guard and the goblin? (Investigation18)
It looks like a normal knife and the same with the sheath. It has no markings pointing to the king or the goblins, so it must have been imported from somewhere else.
Corric tends to the wounded as best as he can (medicine check: 26, but also willing to use spare the dying as needed) before returning to the group to assess the situation, "I say we follow them from a good enough distance, see where there going and find any clues along the way... it could be too brash, but we might not get this chance again... besides, if this battle shows anything, it's that at least a good some of the guard care for it's well being." He gazes out over the sands to see if he can pick out any details from the retreating horde (perception: 10)
Salchar convening with the group is still skeptical about the circumstance, "Perhaps.. but sir Corric, the faith you have in these people... while admirable, could get us killed....The library will be here when we get back, the trail might not. so what choice do we have?" he grins wide
He was tackled and is being brought through the gates.
While they talk and discuss next steps, Rain will lead Jor and any of the others who will follow down, off the wall, and to the city gate. He'd like to be there when they bring the orc into the city.
When they get down to the ground and to the main gate, Rain looks around for a guard who seems uninjured but usefully involved in what's going on. (I'm not sure whether that's a Perception10 or Insight12.)
"Hey, you! Could you help us? Is there a leader or captain of the watch? We want to talk to that orc!"
Rain would like an opportunity to question the captured orc, but he's not sure how to get access to the prisoner. He hopes that there's someone in charge. If they're leaving right away to follow the goblin army, he also doesn't want to have to return to the castle to get his other gear.
If Rain is having trouble convincing the guards or their captain to help, Jorzaeramon will step forward and touch Rain on the shoulder, saying, "You have to start at the beginning." Rain stares at Jor blankly as Jor turns his attention to the guard and tries to smooth things over.
"You may not recognize us, but the king designated this group as the 'Pearl Defenders.' We're acting on his authority." Jor includes himself in the group for simplicity's sake. He speaks directly to the guard or captain to whom Rain was talking, but Jor stands back far enough that it's natural for him to speak loudly. That way, the other guards in the area can hear what he's saying. (Jor is trying to spread the word about the party. He's aware that it could make them a target, but if they have a reputation among the common folk in the city, it could also help them gather information or get other assistance.)
"Why, these brave adventurers," making a sweeping gesture to the other members of the party with his black rod, "helped repel the attack on the city!" He gestures to each party member as he singles out their contributions. "It was Rain's arrow that felled the ogre! Salchar summoned the fires that thwarted the goblins' assault on the wall! And Brother Corric, here, has been helping your injured comrades and just reattached a guardsman's arm! It's not an exaggeration so say that they are the heroes of the day. I am sure that you would want to assist in whatever way you can to help them complete the mission that they received directly from your king."
Jor will then repeat whatever requests Rain was trying to make and Rain will try to help make their case:
access to the orc for questioning
either a new explorer's pack for Rain or someone to return to the castle to get Rain's pack
2 full waterskins for each party member
(Jor: Persuasion18, with advantage from Rain's help)

"Are you wanting to see the Orc? We're bringing him to city dungeons now, you can interrogate him there." Says one of the guards. He and another guard are moving the Orc, whose hands are tied behind his back with a sturdy rope.
"Ah, you must be the one who stole the show." The orc says in a dry voice as he looks at the party. "An odd group ya are. Come to question me, fools? Give me as many questions as you can think of," he says as he mockingly laughs, "and just to help out the weaker side, I'll give you something to benefit from: one of you smells like fish. I'll let you guys decide who."
Salchar steps towards the orc with a smug grin on his face ignoring the fish comment, "Yes, we are the ones who turned the tide of the battle, though your lack of plan was truly your downfall... it is you that appears to be the weaker side no? relying on brute force of an ogre to not even do significant damage on the wall, but why attack now? What do you hope to gain? You're obviously not the mastermind in all this..."
Corric stands back watching the orc, sniffs his armpit briefly to make sure he doesn't smell like the cod he ate with his breakfast earlier, "If you're saying someone in this group is suspicious to divide us, that won't work. I don't want senseless violence and if your people are in need, perhaps there is another way.."
"So this attack relied on strength, and we failed to your strategy. That does not mean that you are going to win in the end. Tell me, do you fear us?"
What exactly are you doing insight on? If someone is suspicious, or if the enemy is in need?
insight check to gauge if he's honorable and truthful, or if he has underlying malicious intentions
Salchar responds, "An interesting questions, I certainly don't think our group fears you per say, but the people of this town would be alarmed as these attacks are troubling. People fear what they don't know after all, especially when it attacks."
He is quite cunning, telling you things without actually giving you information. It seems he is drawing out what you know, and it is him that's getting the information. He is figuring out exactly how you feel about these attacks. It also appears like he wants to be here.
"You're bold, trying to stop us. I'll say that much. Do you know how little a difference you can make? What experience do you have that can match us?"
Edit - Maybe it's me that smells like fish, I ate fish for lunch today.

Jorzaeramon cringes internally at Rain's direct and unmannered style. He jumps in smoothly as Rain finishes, "Good sir, the guards at the wall must have a way to keep the people at the castle apprised of the situation here. A magical means of communicating? Or a series of runners who take messages back and forth? My friend would just like someone to bring him his extra gear here from the castle. Is there someone here at the wall in charge of the communications back to the castle? Or a captain of the watch? I'd be happy to explain it to them."
Rain has stowed his bow and has shifted to listening to the conversation between Salchar and the orc. He draws his dagger and taps it on his palm as he gives the orc a hard stare. Rain finally turns to look again at one of the guards holding the orc (the one not talking to Jor if that conversation is still going on) and asks, "Has he been searched? If so, we'd like to see everything that was found. If not, we need to search him now."

Sorry, tend who's wound?
And for perception:
You can tell the attacking group is retreating, and the other group is gathering by the temple.

You heal them greatly, and with a 26, reattached a guard's arm.
