With a sense of safety thanks to Carmen, you position yourselves around the cart. Iefyr, Mordekai, and Cozubia grab the sides and with all their might attempt to move the wagon. The wagon begins to budge as the three start pushing. However, looking down, it is clear why the cart is so hard to move. It appears that a recent rain has caused the earth around the bottom to build up around the cart, essentially burying the bottom. The three pushing see this and double their efforts, pushing off of the cave wall and heaving the large cart over.
*Crshh* The cart finally topples over as you hear some of the wood splinter when it makes contact with the ground.
There in the cave's opening you see Ettelet standing there. "Ready to get my books."
Looking into the entrance to the cave you see a large room, the ceiling about 15ft high and the walls at least 30 ft apart. The open entryway soon narrows to a dark tunnel that leads further into the cave system.
"This way," Ettelet signals as he waits for others to go first.
"I can go first to make sure there are no...surprises," Carmen says. She snaps her fingers and the large bird circling overhead disappears. As she enters, she tries to disappear into the shadows.
Passive Perception is 16 but she will actively investigate as well investigation21
As Carmen begins to enter the cave, she looks around closely for any dangers or traps. She sees nothing in particular that seems like a threat. As she slowly makes her way in, the natural light of the sun slowly fades. With her darkvision kicking in, she looks down the tunnel. It appears to go for at least 60 feet until the darkness consumes any ability to see until you venture in further.
Eager to get inside, Conlaed edges toward the entrance. "Is it safe?" he shouts down after Carmen, then after a moment looks annoyed with himself for being so loud. "Sorry, sorry," he says, more quietly.
With no fear, Mordekai starts walking forward, not bothering for stealth. He's surveying the walls as he goes, checking for anything shining... like a diamond rock.
Pulling out one of his torches, Cozubia lights it and follows the party in the rear, providing cover should anything sneak up on them from behind, as well as keeping the bright flame out of the eyes of those who don't actually need it. As he walks, he uses Divine Sense to see if he can get a feel for what may be around the area.

Investigation - 2
Using your dark vision, you enter the lightless cavern. As you make your way down the tunnel, you feel the walls hoping to find the diamonds you desperately seek. Unfortunately, even with your darkvision, you are feeling around in the dark to not find anything but the rock wall.
"Not I." the half-elf responds as he also walks down the tunnel, into the darkness, keeping an eye out for anything odd.
Perception 3
As you enter the cave, you get past the first entrance of the cave. As you enter the dark tunnel your eyes adjust with your dark vision. You search the floor and the walls to find anything of note. For the next 60 ft all you can discern is more tunnel past your view.
Cozubia, unable to see past the cave's entrance pulls out a torch and lights the way through the tunnel. As the light spreads, those with darkvision can now see to the end of the tunnel where it turns to the left about another 100ft ahead.
Cozubia takes a moment to see if he can feel any presence of any evil. However, nothing in the immediate vicinity seems to ping your awareness.
As the group goes further into the cave, you all take a left turn heading further into the tunnel until, by torchlight, you can see another large opening. This opening is about 60 ft across to the back wall and ceilings reaching 15ft up. When looking into the room, you see a tunnel heading right, one straight ahead and another to the left.
Conlaed moves ahead, just in front of Cozubia. He stands on the balls of his feet, eager to rush forward, but hangs back, clearly nervous and somewhat fearful, now that he's actually underground and nearly certain to face danger. He follows as the group moves farther into the tunnel.
As you enter the open part of the cave and inspect your options, from the left, you see a small glimmer in the distance through the darkness. From the right you get a faint smell of sulfur-like stench. Straight ahead you just see another dark tunnel.
As the group turns to Ettelet for guidance, the kobold surveys the three paths. "I no not what happens if you go left or right. My home lies straight ahead. But be careful if we go that way, the ground is loose, especially for you bigger types." Ettelet looks around as all of you tower over his tiny stature. "As for the shiny rocks you seek, I am not sure where they would be. I have not seen them myself and only travel in and out of the cave straight to my home and back. This is a dangerous place and it would be foolish to explore around by myself."
Ettelet looks around for a moment, especially at the ceilings, forgetting for a moment with the safety of the group. "And don't forget to watch out for the rocks. Sometimes they sting."
There are multiple paths, but you've only gone the one? What of other paths that were made? Noting the glimmer at the left he nods. Looks to me, the path to the gems are that way. But that is often followed with traps. Kicking both legs forward one at a time to pop his knees, he sets his sight to the glimmer. If something goes off, try to remember where it came from.
Mordekai's speed at forty feet in six seconds turns to eighty and finally 120 as he pulls the ki energy from his body and focuses it into his legs (Step of the Wind)
When Mordekai darts off down the left tunnel, Cozubia mutters "This can only end in tears, Cozubia thinks" just louder than a whisper, more to himself than to the others. He watches the tunnel to see if anything happens to the speedy monk.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Conlaed watches Mordekai run, motionless. After a moment, he shakes his head and moves forward slowly, following, making sure to stay within the light cast from Cozubia's torch as he examines the rock around him looking for anything dangerous, but more, looking for anything that shines, anything valuable.
((Perception check in the tunnel, I think? 13))
