Marigold has been, for the time being, keeping an eye out on the surroundings while Cariadne handled the door. Trying to detect whether or not they're being watched in this endeavor--it seems unlikely a man as ornately dressed as the one they saw would travel alone.
(How does one do skill rolls on mobile?)
When I turn my phone sideways, it shows more options for posting, tools for font etc. One of them is a dice. It's good for combat especially because it accounts for critical hits doubling dice.
Barbär takes a deep breath and nods. "I take it you and Randal are indeed not friends then? Perhaps we go and get a drink and talk more? To the Sinking Castle?"
Marigold spares a moment to bring a single digit up over her lips in a 'Shh' sort of gesture toward the elven child, winking like someone up to a small bit of good-natured mischief. Then she'd make her way into the church as well, keeping her own ears and eyes peeled for anything that might immediately leap out at her--though she'd not push past Cariadne, merely making mention of eyes on the duo under her breath.
Bart and Barbar: You both are a little ahead in time from Marigold and Cariadne, so I'm focusing on them for now.
Cariadne and Marigold: Cariadne sees nothing you wouldn't expect to see in a locked church. Marigold notices one detail. A large rat appears in the shadows near you (AS IF FROM NOWHERE) and seems to be watching you.

Marigold pauses as she takes notice of the rat she spys, a hand reaching up toward her own throat for a moment, mumbling a quick incantation under her breath--speak with animals being cast, so she might move toward said rat and ask precisely what it was doing there.
Marigold hummed in interest, proceeding toward where she saw the rat scurrying to investigate where it had went, or what it was doing. If speak with animals didn't allow for communication, then it might not have been your ordinary one.
Marigold hums to herself, musing aloud for a moment. "That rat was a smidge unusual---Speak with animals should allow me to communicate freely with them, but it didn't seem to understand me. Or if it did, decided to immediately bolt. Just...Cautious steps."
Mayhaps the rat merely had nothing to say, but she figured it better to warn her companion before they'd walk into a potential trap.
Marigold nods her head in affirmation, waiting for Cariadne to do their inspection before they'd likely be proceeding down into this trapdoor. "If you don't mind, I'd like to proceed first. I can be a bit of a...buffer, so to speak. Not that I don't believe you fully capable of holding your own."

For mobile, generally having a wide enough screen gets those options, tilt the phone sideways may work.
Or use the character sheet dice and just report the result here. You all have my blessing for that.

(Gonna use the method DM said they'd allow and roll on the sheet---i think they have a roll log, so should be fine?)
(Confirmed. I seen it :) )
Bart: Make an Investigation check. It’d be at disadvantage but Barbar distracting the priest at key times helps you get a full look.
Barbar: Your insight tells you the priest is definitely concocting a story and framing the missing halfling priest.
Cariadne: Make a Perception check as you look and listen in the empty church.
Marigold: you notice no one looking but a small elven boy staring at you across the square as his father haggles over fruit.
