The children seem to be mostly unharmed but the children are trying not to look at the cookpot. Every time they do they flinch visibly. When Arynn puts his blade away they do begin to calm down and creep towards him cautiously. In a small voice the little girl speaks, "I couldn't protect Davey, Mommy will be angry with me," and then she falls into Arynns arms and begins to weep.
Redmond, you suddenly come to full alertness realizing that the creature took control of your will. You feel like the dirtiest thing had taken residence in your mind but you are now free of it's control now that it is gone.

"It's okay..." Arynn will coddle the child, letting her weep. He's unsure how to comfort properly, but is going to give her a moment to mourn. He will attempt to lead them out of the room, standing between them and the cook pot. He'll attempt to signal to one of the others to check the pot to confirm his suspicions.
The children continue to cry as you lead them back towards the city. Clearly they will not be consoled anytime soon with the sights they had experienced in the past 24hrs.

Alan pulls up the rear behind all of the other adventurers and children. The cocky human keeps an eye out for any dangers that might befall them from behind while the others lead on.

Fargrim keeps to the back as they walk, guarding the children from the rear. His arm still aches from the earlier battle with the troll, and the events of the last couple minutes weigh heavy on him.
That monster was playing with us, he thinks. We should not have escaped that situation alive... and too many of us didn't
Thoughts of the contents of the pot haunt him. This would not be the first time that the death of a little one, but he hopes it to be the last. While everyone was preoccupied, he had taken a single small bone from the pot, carefully placing it safely in his pouch. He had heard stories of powerful magicks which could revive the dead from a single bone. Perhaps Lord Hightower knew of something.
Would a soul even want to be brought back after that? Would the trauma of that memory be worse than the pain of the poor mother who lost her child?
These things kept his thoughts occupied as he followed after the group.
Solastor walks near the front of the group (in the lead if no one else will) He keeps a bright Light illuminating them and the path they walk. His walks shows his weariness but does not dampen his endurance. The weight of the darkness around them presses on him as does the knowledge that he was not able to overcome the darkness in this place. His pride is dented but his resolve has been hardened.
Arynn will attempt to lead the children since the others seem to be more focused on the lead of the group altogether. He will help carry a couple of them if they are tired, as it is late and they have had a traumatic experience. He's still not the best with kids, but knows that they will be looking for someone to hug and confide with; hopefully they will get back to the parents soon.
As you walk you draw closer to the city and as you do you walk past the cemetery. You can hear rustling coming from the cemetery but are far enough away you could pass unnoticed. The city itself is a 1/2 mile in front of you along the main road. You can see lights from the city and the few outliers in the distance.

Fargrim looks in disgust at the skeletons wandering in the graveyard, his hand tightening around his axe, relieved they they hadn't been noticed yet. We'll need to take care of that problem soon. Such a threat this close to this city. Still, we must get the children back to town, and we're in no shape for another fight. He continues following the party to the city, ever more cautious of any approaching enemies.
When you arrive at the city you are greeted by guards. "Who goes there!" They are clearly suspicious to have a group of armed warriors with a pair of children approaching the city in the dark of night.

"At ease, we are men under Lord Hightower's command." Arynn says as he steps forward, still with a couple of children in hand. "We've have some children here who are in need of a bed and their parents, though I think we should speak with the captain first. They've had quite a day and might want to see a healer."
(Arynn might be known to one of the city guard since his previous occupation put him in a similar line with the watch. Also will you need any checks. Passive Insight/Perception 15 in case there is something off with these watch members)
The guards are set at ease at those words. "Good to see you are not Orc's, things have been a bit tense here in town. We will send word for the captain but I am unsure how soon he will be able to get here. Come on into our barracks and we will send for a hunter and get you some stew to eat while you wait."
When the guard said stew the children began to cry once again.

Taman has been quiet during the journey. It weighs heavily on him that they were not able to save one of the children.
In the stories the heroes always save all of the children. We will avenge you if we can, little one...
When they hear the rustling he takes a look but is cautious and he whispers to the others (out of earshot of the children).
