The sight of the mouse makes Maz curious about the pipe he heard about. He loops it into conversation as smoothly as he can.
“ah Clover! Good to meet you. I can see you clearly do very much work behind the scenes. My friends and I are looking for the mayor to let him know about the job we finished.” He helps the man as best he can organizing the files that fell.
“Say, seeing as you are clearly very in tune with the happenings of the things in town, have you ever heard of an instrument called the Pipe of the Sewers? I heard rumor of it at the bar and am trying to verify its existence.” He says with a charming smile.
"Thank you but I've got it. It's a controlled choas situation. Yes yes the adventurers the Mayor blackmailed....
She glances at you
... um roped? Into service. I'm pleased to inform you that we have herd that you found our missing guards. You are hear by releaced from your indenture. I'll need you to provide me a brief summary of what you saw and if you feel that there is still a threat to the town.
Before we get to that. You said your looking for some pipes? I was told that an unsavory gentleman came though town a few days after you left asking about a set of pipes. I've only herd the stories myself when I was but a wee pup. It's a thing of nightmares why would you look for such an awful thing? But to answer your question I've know knowledge of such an instrument in the valley.
She seems a little flustered you would bring up something that can control the minds of her kind. But seems to try and remain polite.
Marley stands by in polite silence as he listens to Clover and Maz talk. He ponders what the significance might be of the reoccurring rodent theme since last night. Are the gods trying to tell the party something? He pulls his whiskers as he contemplates, not previously aware of the magical pipe he now finds himself intrigued.
“Ah. Apologies for mentioning it. I had never heard of it until the other night and curiosity got the best of me. Please forgive me.” Maz says sincerely. He had not meant to cause any disturbance for poor Clover.
“As for our report. We found the guards had tried to protect a local farmer from a horde of Kobolds. Unfortunately those guards, and most of the farmers family, were murdered. We were able to track the Kobolds to a nearby ruined temple where they were trying to complete some form of ritual with the farmers daughter. We were able to return the daughter, but in the process we ran into a Wyrm that, if left to grow into adulthood, may cause problems for your farmers in the future. As for the kobold cultists, I feel we have reduced that threat to nothing at this time.” He turns to the group to allow anyone to interject in case he had left out some information.
Clover writes everything down as you discide it. When you pause with out missing a beat she fires off multiple questions.
You said warm? Was there just the 1? Could it fly? Did you find its lair? What type of cult was it? Do you know what they where after? Was there any Identification that marked them? Did any of this cult escape?
She pauses for a moment looking expectedly at you.
Maz does his best to keep up, firing back answers to questions as they come.
“a young Wyrm, but yes it could fly. And breath fire!”
”I assume the lair is the temple.”
”I’m not sure about the type of cult. It appears they were after the life force of a young girl for some reason.”
“i recall a circular marking of silver embroidery on some of their robes. I could draw for you.”
“We killed most. Though I think one did get away. I saw one very briefly, but he vanished as combat broke out. For now, they seem defeated, but long term they likely have plans in play.”
Maz smiles a charming smile. He wishes he could tell a more heroic tale of the events, but with so much in such a short time he’s still working on processing it all into an epic ballad.
"Hmmm," Marley frowns thoughtfully as he rubs his chin, "we did find an interesting ring on one of them, might have been the leader." He digs in his pack and finds the ring made of dragon glass with a sliver circle on it, which he shows to Clover.
She takes a look at the ring. Then starts talking to herself.
Mmmm. Well this is not good. An adult dragon and its child plus fanatic activity.... I'm going to have to send a report to the city ... ok plus up the guard, send out a team to permanently occupy the out post till we can either chase off the dragon or kill it.... sliver ring on a feild of black.... no idea well that's been delt with so not my problem.
Thank you for the report. I think you have earned your 400 gold and I have a job for you. Your heading to the city yes? Can you deliver my report to the Administration House? I'll pay you 200 gold in advance.
“We’re headed that way tomorrow I believe. Once my friends here pick up their goods from your lovey blacksmith. Delivering your message should be no problem.” Maz is pleased by the amount of gold being given to them.
“the tavern keep was telling me about this instrument, the one i mentioned to Clover. If we’re here a bit longer I’d like to try and track down some sort of lead to where it may be located.” He eyes his pan flute. “I love my trusty pan flute here but would love something imbued with a little extra. Maybe together we can find some clues?” He shrugs and leaves an open invite to the group.
(Are there any other shops that might be of interest open in town today?)
There is the general store, blacksmith and tavern.
The general store sell farm goods and adventureing gear. If there is something specific you want ket me know what it is and roll a D20 to see if he has it.

I'm going to just let you know that you won't get anymore clues in this region. So far you know:
1.A shifty looking individual is also looking for the pipes.
2. He was headed north
3. It's not in the Timber lane valley.
That being said there are other things hidden in this valley you can potentially find.

Please your report.

Marley clears his throat and chimes in, "Ah yes, we did see a big green dragon flying towards the temple as we were leaving."
Maz does his best to keep up, firing back answers to questions as they come.

She points to 2 sacks of gold by the door.
“We’re headed that way tomorrow I believe. Once my friends here pick up their goods from your lovey blacksmith. Delivering your message should be no problem.” Maz is pleased by the amount of gold being given to them.
Perfect perfect. I'll leave the report with Mr. Smith. Thank you for continued assistance
Maz turns to the group
”well, looks like we should collect our gold and then find some other things of interest for today. Any ideas?” He asks openly.
Marley shrugs with a half grin, eyeing the sacks of gold. "When is the next caravan headed to Norend due?" he asks Clover.
Last one left about a ten day ago so roughly 2 more 10 days.
(Are there any other shops that might be of interest open in town today?)
Maz turns to Marley and the rest of the group.

(Sure, Marley is up for exploring)
