Marley you see a hole in the back of the hollow that leads down into the roots.
I'm not sure where he went into the roots. I did not think to follow and now I can't enter due to the curse. The path to the main tap is stight foward. I'm sure he went there.
Marley squints as he peers into the hole in the back of the hollow, then frowns as he looks at the others. "Do we have a way have light without using fire?" He pulls his backpack off as he mutters, "Let's see... I do have a lantern, better than a torch, yes..."
Peering into the hole, you all can see a path that leads down deep into the roots. Sam at the edge of your vision you can see the path opens up into a larger space.
The party moves down into the hole. The climb down is not difficult as you use the roots as a ladder. As the light starts to disappear a eire red glow starts to shine from the cavern below. The roots you are using to climb down start to feel wet and then sticky as you climb down.
At the bottom of the tunnel you enter a large cavern about 60 ft across. There is a dim red glow from all the roots in the area. The roots seem to have a slime oozing from them.
On the far side of the cavern there is an opening leading deeper.
With an 11 you've seen a few people with that description on your travels. None recent enough to .skeleton a connection.

Crunchface nods. “Ready.”
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
Marley nods in agreement, and draws his shortsword.
"Let's go" Sam proceeds forward.
