Marley laughs with a shrug as his finishes his jonny cake, "You can have that if you want, Crunch." He wipes jam off his whiskers and licks the back of his paw before taking a long drink of coffee.
"I'll be sure to come back and perform again sometime.I didn't peg the mayor as the killing type! Seems he enjoys the thrill of the threat more than the action itself." Maziara laughs along with Jorick. "You got it right though friend. He has us looking for some guards that apparently went missing a few days ago. You happen to hear anything about that around here? I know guards like to come blow off steam in most local taverns." Maziara feels right at home in the bar scene chatting with the bar tender. There's a sense of calmness that emits from him that the team had not seen previously while on the road.
Jorick: Ah the boys out eat who didn't report in. Don't know much herd it was after their second out post. Ummm think that's out by the Brown, Littleroot and Clarkson farms. If you rank to the Guard captain he might know more. That's all I know about it.
Jorick calls over to the two men at a nearby table.
Jorick: Yall got any info on the boys missing out east.
Guard 1: Na just herd about it this morning we been working the south trail some goblins pushing thete way north. We got em though.
Jorick: Good work.
He turns back to Maziara.
Jorick: That's about all your get here. Anything else you want to know?
"Much appreciated gentlemen. You got a name for the Captain and place we may be able to find him?" Maziara turns to his group. "I think, we should chat with this guard captain and then head toward the farms. Sam, if we meet the Captain I think he'll appreciate your background more than mine. Maybe you can get em to open up about the mystery of these guards."
Guard 2: He should be at the house. Morning muster is soon. Speaking of which we better go.
The guards get up and start to leave.
Jorick: Cap's name is Captain Bill Barleyhill. Halfling but he tends to be the biggest presence in the room. The guard house is easy to find just go to the Mayor's manor and continue down the road 2 houses. It's the only building in town fenced in. Or you could just follow the boys who just left but I'd wait till after muster to try and talking to the cap.
“Oh we’re quite familiar with the mayors house. We should be able to find our way. Sam, crunch, Marley, you all got any questions for this good man here? If not we should probably hit the road. Don’t want to miss the Captain!” Maziara turns toward the group to see if anyone has any other questions before they depart.
Jorick: Ah ya. One and the same. Thinking of taking the job. Should be simple. He discribes it as a large black wolf with glowing red eyes. Size of a horse. Usually attacks at dusk from the river area.... All he left
"Maybe we can help him with that while we are there," Marley muses. He asks for a coffee refill which he promptly gulps down, then tips Jorick an extra silver. "Many thanks."
“Great idea!” Maziara finish’s the coffee and takes his breakfast to go, leaving a spare silver on the counter for Jorick. “Be well friend.” He says to Jorick, before meeting Marley by the door, ready to depart.
The party gathers and walks to the Guard Barracks. The building is easy to spot with the rot iron fence surrounding it, and uts the only building in town made if stone. Marley you would recognize this to be terran elfish design. The maim house is not very large, only 1 level and it looks only large enough for a few rooms. There is a large court yard in front of the building and two wood long houses on either side of the yard. The addressing. (Roughly 20) currently in garrison are standing in two formations with a halfling at the head addressing them.
The halfling can't be described anyway but stout. Standing just shy of 3 feet tall he is a ball of muscle. His notable feature is it appears his head sits on his shoulders his traps are so large.
Cap Barleyhill: Night protrol you are dismissed. Day protrol start your duties. You are released to carry out today's orders.
The formation breaks up as the night protrol head to the armory and the day shift heads to there various duty stations. A guard leaving the yard asks why your head before escorting you into the main house.
The main house is simple. An office with a few desks and a small room on either side.
Guard: Cap... These folks are the ones the Mayor hired to look for the east protrol.
Barleyhill looks at the party. He simply nods and looks back at his papers
Barleyhill: Here we are. They checked in at OP 2 no issues. Nothing after that. I'd start there or go to OP 3 and work backwards.
He points to a map on the wall.
There's the route on the map. Take the north road then turn right at the first fork about a day's walk to OP 2. The river route to OP3 is quicker but more dangerous.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"How many went missing?" Marley asks as he looks up from the map. He studies the captain as the halfling speaks to see if he shows any signs of hiding anything.
Cap Barleyhill: 3... a corporal and 2 privates. Good stong men. What ever happened two them is not good. My guess bandits but can't be sure see no sign of it. Hate to send yall and not me own but times are tough.
With a 9 he seems factual and not hiding anything.
Marley nods and thanks the captain for the information. He steps back out to the courtyard and packs his pipe, lighting and taking a few puffs as he eyes the weather and waits for the rest of the party.
Marley laughs with a shrug as his finishes his jonny cake, "You can have that if you want, Crunch." He wipes jam off his whiskers and licks the back of his paw before taking a long drink of coffee.
Ok moving on.
Jorick continues to wipe down the bar waiting to see what your task is

Crunchface shakes his head. “No, you take. Crunch not need.”
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.

Questions?
Maziara nods. He’s eager to get this job done for the Mayor so they can hit the road… and so he can fill his pockets with some coin.
"How many went missing?" Marley asks as he looks up from the map. He studies the captain as the halfling speaks to see if he shows any signs of hiding anything.
Insight: 18
