It does damage.
You roll an attack and damage. If it hits you can try and disarm and roll a d6. The damage and the d6 is the str save DC. Example say you hit. You want to disarm you roll damage and get a 4 and the d6 you get a 6 your DC is a 10 and you delt the 4 damage.

Marley tells the others what he remembers about devas including the flying part. "Good ideas, but..." he says to Crunch with a frown, "This is going to be tough. Maybe Sam or I can disarm it."
The party is escorted to the ready room. There are a few other fighters getting ready as well as a mirror that shows the arena. A little time passes as the fighters step out for their turns.

The arena is 120 feet across in a circle. You are located roughly 1/3 of the way across. 60 feet from you on the otherside a blinding light appears as your opponent steps foward.

And his challenge for today. 4 heros on a journey to serve in the Duke's free company the.... um they didn't give us a name folks and I'm guessing we never asked. Either way this fight won't last long ha ha ha. Begin.

If it’s close enough to the ground Crunchface will attempt to grab it with Earthen Grasp. Dc13 STR save or it’s restrained and takes 8 bludgeoning damage.
If not, I’m gonna shoot it with Ray of Sickness. Attack: 14 Damage: 13
and a dc13 con save or poisoned until my next turn
After whichever one I’m gonna spend a couple sorcery points to change the casting time of Firebolt from an action to a bonus action and flick that off. Attack: 21 Damage: 5
advantage in case Earthen Grasp got him: 21

Yep normal fight you just can't die. Once downed your out of the fight
