Valrieth screams as the cart first rushes over the edge, her ears flattened back against the sides of her head. The cart seems to be hurtling toward a cursed forest: trees tortured into twisted shapes and wreathed by a noxious fog, unfamiliar and malevolent creatures lurking in the shadows, and (the greatest offense to Nature) her party members reanimated as undead ghouls!
But her friends are actually sitting next to her in the cart, and the Carnival is set in a wholesome corner of the Misty Forest. Seeing through the obvious illusion, she starts to laugh. She realizes that the ride is meant to have "safe scares," like a puppet show about witches or when her father would tell her ghost stories when she was little.
Gan-Re see's a vision of himself as a Kenku, with no voice and no wings. However he quickly realises that he has just been thinking of the old stories too much. The gods wouldn't curse him, after all he brings joy to the world because he is so good at flying.

Gan-Re: Aarakocra Barbarian - The Wild Beyond the Witchlight | DM - Keys of Empire
Finley sees visions of him being unable to smith armor, somehow he has forgotten how to do it and no matter how hard he tries he just can't remember causing him to be cast out by his clan forever, never welcome back home. He lets out a deep guttural scream and closes his eyes tight trying to get rid of what he saw.

Finley Stoneshaft, Dwarf Artificer - The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Falkas, Half-Elf Drow Warlock - Keys of Empire
Wis save in game log: 18 (will add the rest momentarily)
Hisashi sees open ocean at all sides, a vastness that she’s never witnessed in full force as a storm looms over and waves crash furiously as fellow kobolds struggle to stay afloat…. “cowabunga!!” She chuckles to herself.
Gan-Re reaches over to Finley and says 'Don't worry Finley. I saw something scary, but then I realised it was just silly. It's only a ride Finley, you aren’t really a Kenku'

"Mhm.. no feathers on you good dwarf man.... uh pat pat." She pats him on the shoulder "Next ride? Uhhh how many do we has left?" she begins counting on her fingers.
Gan-Re reaches over to Finley and says 'Don't worry Finley. I saw something scary, but then I realised it was just silly. It's only a ride Finley, you aren’t really a Kenku'
Valrieth gives Gan-Re a quizzical look, but then she starts laughing at the thought of Finley as a stocky black kenku but still with his flaming red beard.
"Aye, I dunnae know.."Finley stammers, "Ah'll be fine, lead th' way."
As they gather outside the ride, Val checks on Finley: "Finley, are you feeling OK? We may need your help to talk to the dwarf who runs the Mystery Mine. You know? You might have a lot in common as dwarven magic users. We should try to ask some questions. After what Kettlestream said, we have some new clues that may help with our Quest."
Val walks back toward the entrance of the ride to find the dwarf dressed like a wizard again. When there's a break in the crowd, she goes up to him with Finley and says, "Thank you! That was quite an exciting ride! You must be a very knowledgable wizard to put that all together." Unless the dwarf shoos them away, she follows up with her question: "Being so learned in the arcane arts, I wondered: could you tell us anything about the 'Hourglass Coven'?"
"Mhm.. no feathers on you good dwarf man.... uh pat pat." She pats him on the shoulder "Next ride? Uhhh how many do we has left?" she begins counting on her fingers.
Valrieth gets out the carnival map again and looks at her ticket. "Well, Hisa, our tickets have been punched for 4 rides: Bubble-Pop Teapot, Pixie Kingdom, Hall of Illusions, and Mystery Mine. We went to the Silversong Lake, but I guess we got distracted by Kettlestream before we got far enough to get our tickets punched there. That leaves us 4 more rides. I'm not that interested in Snail Racing, and I thought that we could do another ride or two before we go to the Big Top. After the...er...excitement," with a glance at Finley, "of the Mystery Mine, maybe we'll do a calmer ride. Both the Carousel and the Gondola Swans sound relaxing. We can decide while we head over."
Val will leave it up to the others to pick between those two. If no one has a preference, or if they need her to break a tie, she'll choose the Carousel.
"Yes I Zephixo is proud of this ride. I made it myself. Hmm...I don't know anything about an Hourglass coven. Now move along as you holding up the other carnival goers"says Zephixo
Valrieth folds the carnival map and puts it back in her pack. She heads back toward the other side of the carnival, going counter-clockwise from the Mystery Mine so that they do not pass the Snail Racing area. Once they get to the Calliope, she'll pause to see see whether they can talk to the calliope operator. She'd like to find out whether there are specific times for the "Big Top" shows and whether the Big Top will punch their ticket just like the other rides.
As that party walks towards the Calliope you see a bugbear wearing dungarees, fairy wings, and a helmet made from a jack-o’-lantern approaches you. “Follow me,” he growls. “Management wants to see you.”
Finley looks at Gan-Re wondering if he had done something wrong when they were apart but then decides it was probably the scuffle with the kenku. He then looks around for Kettlestream to see if they are still around. “We win a lucky prize, aye?”

"Follow you where?", Val looks around at her friends. She moves from her position in front, where she was leading the group to the calliope, shuffling back so that she's in line with or even a bit behind Gan-Re or Finley. She doesn't think that this bugbear looks like the carnival enforcers that we saw before.
