"No, miss. I am capable, " the human woman replies. "There's plenty to see here in the Keep if books aren't what brought you here," the woman says as she begins to clean. "The Hearth has some characters in it I'll tell you," she says moving quickly about her work.

"Ah," Whistler replies blushing at Millicent. "I...so sorry I misunderstood. Would you...you mind if I took a look at the book? Do you have the volume with her inside of it," the gnome asks out of curtsey as she blatantly looks at Millicent's clutch bag.
Millicent looks deeply troubled as she stared at the gnome.
" I.....you can look.....but only touch if she gives permission."
" She......what are you going to do?.....if you hurt her...", Millicents easy smile and friendly eyes were immediately a mask of flinty determination.
" But...if you can help...", she undid the cover flap of the satchel and opened it allowing the gnome to see the volume within.
OOC Apologies Hayredd you can assume Whistler summons a scribe.
As they discuss the possibilities of traveling safely in the mountains a willowly looking male elf appears. He's wearing silvery robes and a regale looking circlet.
"I was summoned for a task in copying a tome," the male elf asks looking around at Eila, Niska, and Elliðaey. "Greetings I am scribe Tudela," the elf says giving the woman a slight bow.
Eila lifts her attention from the notes she's making, following Niska's commentary on the region to see the scribe as he approaches. "Ah, hello. That would be at my request- my name is Painbearer Forthall," she says as she puts the notes down and comes over.
"I'm looking to copy a book, if you have a surviving copy. It's a morality play, allegorical, written in the 1300's. It's titled 'The Nature and Apportionment of Pain'. It's about this big, 40 or so pages." She gestures a small rectangle, explaining in as much detail as she can recall about the book her mentor requested, despite these scholar's ability to summon books at what seems just the vaguest suggestion. "There's no rush, I aim to help Elliðaey with her task first, and collect on my return. How much might this cost?"
"Ah, well," the elf muses to himself before continuing. "If found 40 pages not illuminated I think would take a few days and 150 gold pieces," Tudela replies. "But illuminated and bound in leather it would take at least two months and 1200 gold pieces," he explains. "Your preference of course, " he nods at Eila.
Eila takes a very deep breath in and schools her expression into something she hopes doesn't let show too much of the shock of the second price. "That is certainly an amount of money, I would expect nothing less for the work of your talented scribes" she says falteringly, "I think that... ah, the former should be perfectly adequate, it's merely the text that's required."
She hands Scribe Tudela a pouch of her entire personal fortune - all 15 gold - and shakes his hand vigorously before he can ask for the whole sum up front. "Here is a deposit. I will certainly have the remaining 135 gold pieces that I will use to pay for your services when I recieve the completed copy, upon my return."
"Zaphi... a funny name for a funny little dragon man!" She says with a grin. Though her words might sound a bit insensitive, it's obvious that she doesn't mean to hurt the kobold's feelings... she's just not very smart. "Katarina is here because she got a message from ranger Niska about... um... something. Katarina doesn't remember very well, but she's sure that it's very important."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
After setting the task to the scribe Eila is free to leave with the party as they exit the Pillars. It's early evening now and the sounds of merriment from the Hearth echo through the Court of Air. The party finds Zaphi speaking with a well armored tabaxi but before introductions can be hand Niska erupts with glee and nearly tackles the armored taxbi in a hug!
"I'm so glad you made it! I wasn't sure if my letter would reach you in time, " Niska exclaims to Katarina. "Join us! We're heading to the tavern, " she adds usurping Elliðaey leadership role but the monk doesn't speak out.
Elliðaey nods at the taxbaxi with a warm smile then hangs back to talk with Eila.
"Where do you think Jade's gone off to," Elliðaey asks Eila with a concerned expression.
Jade, utterly mindless to the maid's feelings on the matter, helps to clean the party's room. Doing something concrete and mundane helps to sooth her. Afterwards, she heads to the baths to clean up before submitting the the rumbling in her stomach and heading over to the Hearth.
Jade finds Eila and Elliðaey and approaches them with visible trepidation.
"Painbearer, Mistress, my apologies. I allowed myself to become...delayed...after...lunch. I hope that you were able to find some clue as to the location of Vermeilon despite my absence."
Eila looks the paladin over and sees nothing awry, so just gives Elliðaey a relaxed sort of 'here she is' nod. "It's no matter. With Millicent, Elliðaey and Niska, Elliðaey's... friend," she uses the word haltingly, recalling the oddly tense way the half-orc had been looking at Niska earlier, "We managed to find a good deal of information. We've got a solid idea for the route to Vermeillon, using mithril deposits to trace the platinum mines. Millicent said it's likely there may be a significant undead presence in some sort of... cursed fog, so be sure to remain focused on your prayers; sounds like we'll be in need of your talents in particular."
"Katarina is most happy to be here!"the feline says with a smile. "Though please pardon Katarina if she doesn't partake in any hard drinks at the tavern... the last time she partook she woke up in a tree with no idea how she got there..."

At the news of Elliðaey's new acquaintance, Jade gives Eila a look that falls somewhere between a query and and a private joke. Something about the paladin's demeanor seems lighter, at peace, moreso than Eila has seen her in a long time...maybe ever.
"Ah, yes, they do have a surviving copy of 'The Nature and Apportionment of Suffering', they'll have a copy when I return and, ahem, hopefully have the funds."
"Anyway I think I've had quite enough of serious matters after a full day of study, come, let's eat" she says, putting a hand to the back of Jade's shoulders to nudge her to the Hearth, not wanting to linger on anything that might dampen her apparent high spirits. She almost reaches up to give the same nudge to Elliðaey but catches herself lest she come across too overfamiliar.
"Ah, glad you could join us," Elliðaey nods to Jade nodding at both the cleric and paladin before joining Zaphi, Katarina, and Niska.
"It's a fine place to meet another handy with a blade, " Elliðaey says admiring Katarina armor and peace tied weapons like the group.
"Plenty good with a blade," Niska says before Katarina can respond. "Saved me more than once in our travels," the ranger adds grinning as the party enters the Hearth.
Now early evening the place is positively full. Every table seems to be taken before Elliðaey and Niska find two unoccupied smaller tables to pull together making a much larger one for the group. It'll be a little crowded but also cozy in a far corner of the Hearth. The fire roars as a bard takes the smallish stage near the entrance. She brings out a harp and begins strumming it when another bard, a elven singer, begins a jovial melody in Elvish about the Summer Court.
Meals are served for a fair amount of coin as well as drinks but neither Elliðaey nor Niska seem to let anyone else spend a copper as they foot the bills the large party develops over the evenings relaxing.
"Should be maybe say our strengths and one weakness," Niska asks.
The half-elf is well in her cups and her cheeks are rosier than usual!

"Thank you for footing the bill"says Zaphi as he eats the food with gumption, but he does not drink anything beyond water. Even though I am sure this is a safe place you never know what might happen.

At this suggestion, Jade seems on the verge of speaking. Her face darkens and instead she takes a glass of elderberry wine and drains it.
