"Gnomes," thinks Jade to herself. At least their excess of personality is to be expected. Censuring her unkind thoughts, Jade turns instead to contemplating what instructive purpose Ilmater may intend for her new companions to provide.
Elliðaey beams at the group as they exchange kind words and offers. She stays slightly ahead as if scouting the route before the main party passes. It takes roughly ten minutes but the party has made it to the village of Greenstone.
As Li-Anne offers a race those in the party willing race forward where they find a lively square with a communal well at it's center. Local people and travelers alike are wandering about as the Hanged Man and the Broken Spoke stand brightly shining from the lights within. The Hanged Man have no crowd outside the doors while the Broken Spoke is alive with music coming from doors propted open and chatter from what looks like farmer workers or general labors lingering outside with ale tankards in a cloud of pipe smoke rising off of them
Elliðaey arrives after the race dismounting her gray mare who she then turns to with a smile.
"Calliope I appreciate the burden you've suffered today with carrying me. If you would like to rest amongst the other beasts you certainly can or you can return to the Fey with my blessings," Elliðaey says to the horse her forehead pressed against the dappled gray fur of what seemed to be a horse!
The gray mare snorts loudly as Elliðaey nods, almost as if the two are discussing something without the means of speaking aloud, before in an almost comical puff of purple-silver smoke the horse disappears.
"Looks like stabling is back there," Elliðaey says turning to the group thinking nothing of what happened.
the tall monk, standing at 6 feet tall with a strong graceful frame, gestures to a stable behind the Broken Spoke as a boy appears. The human boy stares wide-eyed at what has transpired before remembering his purpose and offering help with the mounts and wagon that remain!
Millicent and Participle watch the goat race off at speed and continued on at their same placid pace, Millicent was deeply aware that nothing short of a platoon of rabid Dire Wolves would get the hinny above walking pace for any real length of time.
When she arrived at the stables she assisted with getting everything squared away
As the wagon pulls up to a halt at the stable, Jade turns to her passenger and presses a gold coin into her hand.
"Eat something," she whispers. It is not the normal diffident tone of the penitent to the Painbearer, but the other one. The one filled with insistence and concern and memories of long roads traveled together. The voice of a friend well aquatinted with her companion's follies.
The shift back would be jarring, were it not already so familiar, "By your leave, Painbearer, I'll arrange for your lodgings once the mule and the wagon have been seen to."
Years ago, Eila would have vehemently, furiously, objected to being coddled by her paladin, but she knows well enough now. Back then, she had needed the voice of reason to pull her from zealous pursuit of mortification, of holy suffering. Now, she simply needs the occasional reminder that yes, while there is always work to be done and other's needs to be met, Eila does too need such wild extravagances as food and rest.
"Our lodgings," she corrects, otherwise content to leave everything in Jade's capable hands.
She turns to Elliðaey then, noting the way the woman despite her open and friendly demeanour (and abnormally high body temperature, Eila had noted when they shook hands upon meeting in Baldur's Gate) had opted to cloak herself, "Are you okay, Elliðaey? We should hurry inside, if you're cold."
"Cold...no," Elliðaey replies to Eila. "I...tend to draw...unwanted attention in the smaller villages," the monk explains still smiling. "Shall we go inside? I am quite hungry," she adds gesturing for Eila to go ahead as she then glances back at Millicent. "We ready to pad our coffers with the coin of these unknowing folk?" The handsome scholar asks her apprentice grinning with a cocked eyebrow!
Outside...
Fay notices nothing amiss. The stables are simple but well kept. The beasts already stabled here are eating and drinking their fill as a young woman is brushing a large brown gelding who looks in prime delight as she softly murmurs to him.
"Jordy! Take the new horses to the far stables," the girl calls out not realizing it's Fay who's entered the stables and not her younger brother. "Oh," the girl says surprised by the wood elf. "Hello m'lady," she says giving Fay a slight curtsey. "Can I take your horse from you," she offers.
"We don't have a farrier here until the morning," the girl explains to Fay disappointed by the assumed loss of coin due to shoeing being out of the question. "They will receive the best care however with what we can provide," the teen explains as Jordy comes in leading the mules from Millicent and the cart from Jade's cart.

(OOC: Jade was a stable hand herself once, she'll find some excuse to bring in the mule. The smell evokes comforting memories of simpler times and obligations.)
Jade unhitches the mule from the wagon, perhaps taking a bit longer than is needed to avoid crossing paths with the talkative Elf.
Entering the stable, she turns to the youths. Comfortable and relaxed, free of pretenses, she speaks with no shame.
The teenager takes the gold from Fay suspiciously looking around behind her then back to the elf.
"This...this is too much miss," the teenager says sighing regretting it already. "It's three silver to stable the horse and as I said I'll care for them well regardless of the amount above three silver," the girls says her hands on her hips. "I wouldn't know what to don with that much gold but offer it to my mother inside, she will," the teen adds handing the coins back to Fay.
Outside the stables...
"Hello," Jordy says to Jade beaming at the paladin. "Are you a knight," the boy asks his tone excited! Before Jade can answer he adds quickly. "If you're staying in the inn it's just three silver," he answers admiring Jade's armor and weapons.
Jade offers a soft smile, reluctant to disappoint.
"No knight I'm afraid, just a humble warrior in the service of Ilmater."
Leans in conspiratorially, "but once upon a time...I was a stable hand, the most noble and honourable profession in all of Faerûn, without whose service neither merchants trade nor knights quest. Pray, may I join you for a bit and relive my old glories?"
"If you'd like," Jordy replies slightly let down obviously by Jade's answer. "There's a roan stallion the the far stall who's been really rough with us," he adds patting Bane's wooly nose as Particable winnys for food. "I can take them," the young boy adds leaving Jade to her business.
"Thank you," the teenager says to Jade after Fay has left the stables. "He sees armor and weapons then wants to run off and join the local militia. Nevermind he's only twelve," the girl explains to Jade after she's come over towards the roan stallion's stall. "You traveling far," she asks curiously next brushing out Fay's horse in the stall next to the feisty roan.
Esther, the human teenager, had unsaddled Fay's horse while Jordy and Jade were talking.
Inside the tavern.....
Elliðaey leads the party who's followed Inside to a table large enough for everyone once they join them. The monk orders the first round on the Scholars of Allsight from herself and Millicent before she asks what's on offer from the kitchen. The human woman who brought their round of drinks to the table then lingers to reply to the monk asa bard plucks a viola softly by the fire.
"Ah well there's a lamb stew that's fairly hearty for a chilly night," the woman says Elliðaey still having her cloak hood up. "You know it's been. There's another dish I just started serving which is a mix of roasted root vegetables with a side of barley," the lovely stout human woman explains.
"I think both," Elliðaey replies looking around the table. "Hearty portions for my friends. We're missing a few who will join us," she adds gesturing at the empty chairs before smiling at the human woman.
"Yes, of course," the woman nods. "Would you all be needing rooms then? I only ask now because I'm nearly full up," she explains with an exasperated sigh before smiling.
"Yes, a very large room or two small ones if possible. The communal room being preferable, " Elliðaey answers as the human nods.
"Yes, well I do indeed have a loft area at the back of the inn. It's a couple of large mattress and I can provide fresh bed clothes," the human explains.
"Yes," Elliðaey replies. "I hope this will cover it as well as keep our tankards full, " the monk explains handing the woman a sack of coin with a nod.
The woman takes it and feeling the heft immediately curtsey.
"Anything you or your companions need you only have to ask," the human replies curtseying again before returning to the kitchen to prepare the meals.
"I ordered for the table but you're welcome to order whatever you would like," Elliðaey explains to the party taking up a tankard and quickly and noiselessly drains it! "Ahhh I love a country tavern, " she says relaxing into the chair smiling from beneath her hood.
Jade gets a few nips and a sore foot but eventually calms the horse enough to unsaddle him. She and Li-Anne, having taken care of animals, can now head into the tavern to rejoin their companions!

Eila takes a seat at the table opposite Elliðaey and, respectful of her paladin's wishes, ensures to accept a bowl of the heartier lamb stew and a mug of ale. She keeps another serving of the same for the open space to her left for when Jade returns from her duties.
"So Elliðaey, Millicent, do you two often make the journey down to Candlekeep from Neverwinter together? You're very familiar with the area."
"I travel most of the year but this is Millicent's first journey south with me," Elliðaey replies to Eila with a wink at Millicent. "She was recently made my apprentice but she's an exceptional scholar too," she adds having relaxed in the chair Elliðaey allows the hood to slide off.
At first she gains a few looks but mostly the patrons are keeping to themselves, their own companions, or enjoying the music! The tune the bard is strumming is a little more jaunty than before and a few people even get up to dance! Looking around now, having been in the Broken Spoke for some time, the party realizes it like Greenstone is mostly made up of humans with travelers being the diverse group amongst the human locals.

After a while, after taking care of Bane, Li-Anne walks into the tavern. Being only 3"1' she steps on currently free chair and looks around in search of the rest of the group. "Ah, there they are..."she jumps of completely oblivious of the stare a elderly bearded man gave her for using his chair.
She pushes through the people trying to reach the party while avoiding any knees and elbows, however from time to tome she may push someone with her bags so as she gets closer her voice gets more noticeable "sorry...excuse me...watch out... Hey, that's my foot!"
When she reaches the table she looks at the dishes "Where's the mead?" she asks with disappointment "Is it all gone already?"
Seeing her traveling companions gathered together, Jade approaches the group with a slight sense of trepidation.
Upon seeing the open seat next to Eila, a sigh of relief escapes her lips, only to be quickly overcome by the realization that the Painbearer is already in conversation with Elliðaey. Torn between her desires to stay close to her charge and her reluctance to intrude on her betters, Jade hesitates awkwardly at the edge of the group.

"Food? Good.... I am STARVING!" Li-Anne smiles and gets a spoon and starts eating... "Not bad... Could benefit from more garlic I guess..." but she eats with joy.
Whenever a barmaiden gets closer, Li-Anne stands up and waves to get her attention. "Yes, a bottle of your finest mead, please... And I mean the best!"she asks, and adds muttering "...because I will know it"
Whenever she is done with food, she takes a look around looking at the clientele of this establishment... Perhaps she will notice something...
