Tagraul is leaning against the secondary masts, seeming a little bit asleep against the wood. A shield is leaned up on the pole beside him, the leonin leaning on the shaft of a spear that's been stuck into the deck. His mane is the same dull golden yellow as the rest of his fur, but a mix of shaggy brown intersects the color. He's wearing a set of simple chain mail armor, his normal clothes on under it. As the commotion starts, he opens one of his green eyes, looking around

 A wooden pirate ship with black sails and siren symbols is bearing down on the group. There are three pirates alive above deck, one stunned with her feet on fire, the other two behind half cover. Two lie dead on the floor, a single arrow shot seeming to have killed them both. One of the oars has been blasted to bits, the oarman’s remains smoking through the small window. There are four oars remaining and two oarmen, both hidden behind the full cover of the deck.

Screaming seagulls swarm overhead, watching the crew murderously. It could be just his eyesight, but he swears that the seagulls have serrated beaks.. resembling teeth.

The sea below is churning, the foamy waves crashing against the boat. It seems more agitated than usual.

 "What in the hells?" He mutters, standing up fully, yanking his spear out if the deck, "Who are these bozos"

Brontes, terrified and trembling at the onset of violence around him, moves his claws through shaky motions in the air, casting jump on himself. His actions seem desperately fast, as if he’s trying to outpace something - before his arms slam into the deck, growing unnaturally fast even as his fur darkens and his claws lengthen, mane shrinking into his neck even as the sound of cracking bones completes his transformation into an enormous brown bear. The bear roars in rage and runs across the deck, leaping onto the deck of the other ship. 

*With a current jump distance of 57ft, he should make that, I think.* 

*Ooh ohh oh heheh*

His claws slam onto the wood and it creaks under the new weight of a huge bear. The rest of the pirates are now shouting in alarm.

The swirling waters of the Siren Sea below churn and thrash, white foam coalescing around the wooden hulls of both ships. Suddenly, a deafening scream pierces your eardrums- the sound of a screeching eagle almost, but at a much higher pitch. The sound reverberates through the wood of the ship, sending vibrations through every person and creature standing on it.

Through the ravenous waves, a massive scaled head bursts from the water, effectively spraying both crews. The creature has a long pointed snout covered in obsidian scales, pearly white hooked teeth glinting wickedly in the midday sun. Its eyes are a saturated golden yellow shade, pupils dialated and fixated on the pirate ship. It reaches one of its massive webbed claws and lets out another screech, slamming it into the deck of the pirate ship.

The enemy crew is screaming now, both in panic and newfound resolve from the fear of imminent death. They draw their scimitars and attempt to stab into the talons. The serpent screams in agony as one makes contact, wedged between the scales. With a swift swoop downwards of its head, it opens its jaws wide and swallows one of the pirates whole. More crew emerge from below deck, desperately trying to fend off the creature.

The sky has darkened, gray clouds forming overhead. The seagulls are screaming, though it sounds more of a panic than anything else. The cacophony of sound is deafening, splintered wood flying and sails tearing.

The tail of the sea serpent bursts from the water, slamming onto the deck of your ship.

Make a DEX save and a History check.

 To the bear, the sea serpent seems like just another sea snake. But bigger. And with more teeth. Snakes bad.

Geoffrey leaps out of harm’s way with catlike grace, dodging the serpent’s tail. Even his hat manages to stay on his head.

As a constant sea traveler, Geoffrey realizes the serpent is actually the famous sea monster, Cetus, who was nothing more than a legend before. He also knows the following:

As he jumps he paraphrases all this for everyone else. "It's like this big fish thing the fish god released to eat the monarchy and also ships. Plus, it's dead!"
