So was the attack a 17 to hit or an 8 to hit Fred the Cat?

If it was 17, he is out of the wildshape.

The original roll was 17. I re-rolled because the roll wasn’t showing up. I’m going to make the call to keep the original hit. I’m doing my absolute best to keep things honest.

Progo draws his bow again and as he aims he sees the cat transforming back into Fred. The shape changing opens up a good shot and he let's fly.
