Progo will move some items around from the bag of holding for easier access to his supplies. "Best keep that potion handy. Progo can't swing that thing around like you do."
"Progo thinks we need better plan then that last one we tried. Especially now we know there's no rest and recuperating here, we must use our resources sparingly. Progo thinks we should check our supplies, hopefully that blood is what we need to return."
After pondering a bit further: "If that blood coukd get us back, perhaps we set up our trap on the other side since we have a good sense of where the creature crosses into our world, but we would need to be sure since we don't know the way back here"
"Prog has a few things in his bag, a handful a acids, a bit of poison, a couple more of those fire in a bottles, rope, ball bearings, flask of oil... Anything help in planning? Progo also has one more of those health potions if the time comes."
"Could we make a pit and put an illusion over it so it falls in. Cover the bottom and sides with some oil and throw in the fire?"
A hand rises up from underneath the ground in protest, much like the same way the party found the strange human for the first time.
"This soil is terrible and is terrible for my complexion. Why are we still sitting around here, anyways? We have a way to get home, at least, according to the knight we met earlier. So let's head east, gather up those plants, and test out how this method of returning works. I'm fairly convinced she was telling the truth but when it comes to magic, the particulars can always bit you in the butt. Does it open a portal? Send only a fixed number of individuals that are touching it at the same time? Excuse me--,"
Mara snatches the empty potion vials then with her telekinsis, squeezes the demogorgon's corpse for blood, feeds it to the vials, and keeps those for herself. Interestingly enough, she never picks up her magic casting fan at all to do this.
"Sir Moltenaxe, slayer of monstrosities~" she inquires of the dwarf, "Can you be a dear and cut up this...monster with that wonderful sword and place its parts in Progo's magic bag? It would be nice to head back to Sir Tristan's keep with a trophy so that we don't come back empty handed. Perhaps we can even convince them to lend some extra help. At a distance with slings and arrows of course, while we take the front and deal with the thessalhydra's claws and acids. I learned a little trick for dealing with that recently."
"Progo thinks you are suggesting we return to the normal world, but we don't know how to return if we needed to. Will the flowers come with us and we use them to travel back here? Would we have to find that blasted blasting suit of armor? Perhaps we don't return at all and fight the creature in our world. Sir Molten's sword cools down there but otherwise we have advantages there. Except the knowhow to chase the beast if it comes back here. Progo would also like to destroy the flowers that make this travel possible if we could manage it."
“Right,” she says dropping her sword, “nothing like that. They are just on the other side of that hill outside the mouth of a blocked cage entrance”, indicating to the East. “But without the blood of a monstrosity the flowers will be useless…”
Cupping her hands gently, Mara whispers to her butterfly friend and sends it towards to where the plants were to see if it's safe. Or if it's actually there.
"...Will the flowers come with us and we use them to travel back here? Would we have to find that blasted blasting suit of armor? Perhaps we don't return at all and fight the creature in our world..."
"Thank you for your input, Mister Progo, in situations like these it is always valuable to share one's thoughts than to take them to grave, never to see light of dawn...however, if I may offer a slight amendment to your concern: should the flowers fail to travel across the planes then the issue with the Thessalhydra's disappearing would never be a problem in the first place."
"There would never have been any need to hire us, and we never would've met, but--,"
Although Mara's voice kept it's candor, the way her voice trailed off implied that she was about to say something else. Perhaps something about the party of adventurers she was in before joining this one.
"Sir Molten's sword cools down there but otherwise we have advantages there. Except the knowhow to chase the beast if it comes back here. Progo would also like to destroy the flowers that make this travel possible if we could manage it."
The woman in blue unfurled her fan, her expression unreadable.
"You are absolutely right about the sword. I have been blinded by own selfishness, as I have but two spells remaining, save for minor tricks."
"Progo would also like to destroy the flowers that make this travel possible if we could manage it."
"I am however, opposed to the destruction of these plants. Who knows how long this 'accursed earth' stretches to? As far as our own? Perhaps greater? Where else these plants proliferate, or if the Thessalhydra keeps a bouquet of them in its belly, that we do not know."
"Progo thinks that these flowers are slightly rare, at least around here, otherwise Progo would have heard about more of these monsters about. And as we just discovered, monsters are about in this place so Progo guesses its the lack of flowers that prevents it. Not to mention everyone we have discovered that knows of this place, knows how to travel to and from it which is concerning to Progo. Perhaps our best corse of action is simply deprive the creature of its means of traveling and let it haunt this world as it did before crossing into ours. Much easier to destroy plant life then fight monsters, though less exciting.
As for your theory of a bouquet belly full, in Progo's experience with things that spit acid, they tend to have extra acidic insides. So it a mere resistance or immunity to acids, it can be super acidic internally, great for digestive purposes. Progo don't know of many plans that have such properties to resist that. But if when we find them, Progo has so acid to experiment of them with."
"Hold your horses now, Mister Progo!" Mara lowers her fan a bit so all can be seen is her furrowed brow, "First you suggested that we stay here and fight without getting proper rest to take advantage of the properties of Sir Moltenaxe's sword...to which I could perhaps agree..."
"But now you are saying that our best course of action is to forsake the bounty, forsake brave Sir Tristan's quest and leave his kingdom to an unknown fate? I...I don't quite think I can be convinced to do such a thing."
She sets off towards the East. At least, the direction that the woman from before headed to, following the butterfly that has already flown ahead.
"Let's walk and talk. I value your advice Mister Progo, but this perspective I am having ... difficulty with. Perhaps we can come to a mutual agreement once we've seen these plants for ourselves."
"Progo likes to ponder all options before, is extra Shiney sword worth more then extra arcane hocus-pocus? Progo don't know, Progo doesn't use either. Is the potential of trapping the creature buy ruining its meaning of travel less then our potential of defeating the creature we know next to nothing about but know it can defeat entire patrols by eating them, in a confrontation. Progo likes bounties as much as the next, bit they are only good if you are alive to collect them.
Progo not saying which option is best yet, merely stating options for thoughtful discussion amongst the party.
Also Progo use doney, horses too unpredictable and jumpy for Progo's liking. Ruin many of Progo's wares."
Progo will move some items around from the bag of holding for easier access to his supplies. "Best keep that potion handy. Progo can't swing that thing around like you do."
Hold up friends…
You rest and relax for a few hours but at the end…
…you do not gain any health back from hit dice
…you don’t gain any spell slots back
…you don’t gain any benefits whatsoever that you normally would.
you are in a demiplane muh-dudes, you think you can just rest up and be better!? 🤪
"Well so much for that. Let's get out of here."
D&D since 1984
Thalron is beside himself, that his natural fortitude is thwarted here.
He chugs the potion of greater healing that Progo gave him to see if the magical elixir works.

Yeah, it finds the aforementioned mentioned cave and can see the strange flowers around it.
