Destroying the flowers seems to me to be a temporary fix. Assuming we can be sure we’re trapping the Thesselhydra on this side, what’s to say some new flower doesn’t spring up somewhere else? Our mission and reward is for slaying the Thesselhydra and bringing as many heads as we can back to Sir Tristan.
Maybe we could set a trap we could trigger remotely to destroy the flowers we know about. If all hope is lost, with our last dying strength we could trigger the trap to at least buy Tristan and his people some time.”

"Then we are in agreement!" Mara says with a breath of relief, "We destroy the Thessalhydra first, and destroy the plants as a last resort. It's not our bridge to burn, and what if this monstrosity here was just the owlbear of this world? What if there are other creatures who have designs for our plane, but with a modicum of intelligence? Did not Sir Tristan himself warn us of the Thessalhydra's cunning?"
"My guards would drive it off each night, following into the forest, but it would seemingly vanish without a trace. We tried to track it to its lair, but it left no tracks behind. I fear my people cannot survive another attack since we have nothing left for it to devour besides the people themselves."
Mara replays Tristan's words using Minor Illusion, although it sounds...different. She was part of a different, scouting party after all (so maybe he sounds less desperate, idk).
Mara approaches the dwarf and daintily offers her hand. “Sir Moltenaxe, if you will. I shall attempt to use my magic to take a peek at what is in store for us but I shall be blind to my own senses..."
Her eyes go completely blind as she has shared senses with her familiar to investigate the area for traps or ambushes. Investigation check: 19
Thalron steadies Mara as she “zones out” to relay the information perceived from her familiar. This witchcraft has always amazed and scared Thalron, though his business-like manner would never let on.

"Progo thought you couldn't see when eyes like that. Progo try ro do favor by keeping monsterbugs away from your defenseless face, perhaps said bug was actually Fred!"

(OOC: it would have felt wrong if I had a good roll on that!)
Exasperated, but not with her senses restored, Mara tries to regain her poise, "The coast is clear, let's head straight to the cave mouth, gentlemen..."
Okay, you make your way to the cave that has its opening blocked by the flowers. You have several vials of blood on your persons. You know something has to be done with the flowers and the blood in order to follow the Thessalhydra. What do you do?
"Progo wonders, is creature here, or in our plane? If creature needs flowers to crossover, then we at least know it would need to come here for flower, but probably doesn't need to enter our world in this spot. Pick two flowers, go to the castle, cut finger, eat Sir Tristan, prick other finger and return here. But creature still needs to come here, to this spot, in this world to travel, we hope at least. So we set a trap here. But how?"
"Agreed. Let's pick two flowers each for we don't know if this is an individual or a group portal...the Thessalhydra is both, isn't it? Let's regroup at Sir Tristan's and get some much needed restocking and rest--,"
"Fred or Thalron? Any options you have that Progo not think of?"

(Just to confirm, we are still level 4 and have not leveled up yet?)

Progo starts waving his hands in front of Mara's face to see if she really can't see.
Still 4
Does not identify any traps or creatures lurking.
"Mr. Progo, is that...that is you! Scion Fred can't reach--ahem--wouldn't stoop so low!"

Assuming the two rolls amount to the two fumbling around, Mara struggles in vain at the 'monsterbugs' and tries to blow them away.
"Well, get them off then! I don't mind insects too much, I am a fan of butterflies...but monsterbugs I draw the line!"

Alright, are you all heading to the flowers?
Yes.

"--but let's skip over this part." 😜
