As soon as the blood touches the petal, a loud eruption is heard and a blinding purple flash as the flower bursts open violently. Anyone who was standing within 5ft make a Dex save (below 12 is knocked prone). The flower has opened up large enough for each of you to step through it. Within it is an undulating, cross-planar gate.
Assuming you will all eventually step through: you emerge into the familiar realm of your home plane. It is just after dawn. The sun is shining, the leaves rustle in the wind, the air is warm and rejuvenating. The difference between this place and the last is stark; it’s the first time you’ve seen colour since you entered the cave at the beginning of the adventure.
The cave in front of you now looks exactly like the one you were just standing in front of, except now the entrance is no longer blocked.
Just over the treetops you can see the towers of Sir Tristian’s keep in the distance, you judge it would be a mere 2 hour walk from here.
(For flavor, seeing as Thalron was definitely within 5’ of the portal opening.)
Thalron studies the ground to see if there’s evidence of recent passage of the Thesselhydra.
”Do we immediately step back through and hunt on the other side? Set a trap on this side? Or go back to Sir Tristan for news and to share what we’ve already discovered?”
"Well Progo thinks we have to start somewhere and best we got is mixing blood and petals." He arranges himself to prepare to poor the monsters blood on one of the flowers he picked and as he is about to open the vial he looks up.
Thalron will stand back 5’ with the “Dark Bite” Ready to chop anything hostile that possibly emerges from a presumed new portal.
Progo's eyes get a little bigger seeing the dwarf looking like he's going to strike out where progo is standing. "On second thought Progo thinks it's best for Fred to try ritual, in beast form, like beast." Keeping his eyes fixed on Thalron, he holds the flower out to the side in the direction of Fred.
Progo Dex save disadvantaged since he wasn't watching: 7
As the flower opens up rapidly progos instinct of pulling his arm away from the disturbance essentially pulling the flower doorway over the top of himself and causing Progo to stumble. After a hard landing spraled out on the ground face first, he says muffled by the dirt hie face is in, "Does anyone know if Progo died or not?" He picks his head up and looks around, realizing the change in surrounding appearances, he excitedly yells, "Progo better then dead! He's back!" With that he kisses the ground and stands up wiping his face.
As Progo stands up, he sees Mara sitting beside him, making a funny face.
"Here, let me help you. Although you have to say, it looks like we stumbled across the best outcome: the ritual was done correctly, we only needed one vial and one flower and well, your party is back home safe!"
It is just after dawn. The sun is shining, the leaves rustle in the wind, the air is warm and rejuvenating.
"...and I'm so very glad to not have lost any of you fine gentlemen out there," she says quietly as a tear falls from her cheek as she sees the sunlit warriors. They were worse for wear, but alive and ready for action, it looks like.
"Ahem. Ah yes, I think you still have dirt still left on your face. Mmm."
She gently blasts Progo in the face with a puff of wind from one small gesture of her fan.

"I would kill for a proper meal and bed," Mara stands up, ramrod straight.
"Besides, it would be awfully embarrassing if we went to fight the monster, perish and take the hard-won secret of traveling through planes to the grave."
Mara sighs, "Imagine all that hard work, only for some other party taking all the credit."

As the air hits Progo's face, the excited grin washes away, but he doesn't move away from it, he looks back at were they had come from (Is the portal still open?) Staring as of wondering if he should step back through. Sighing, Progo turn back to group and brushes his face with his arm. "Progo is in the mood to finish this thing but understands the benefit of recharging first. Do we have any leads to were this thong could be? In cave? At castle?" Progo wants to stab this thing once and for all!"

“I’m pretty sure it strikes at night here on this side. But I’m not sure if time works differently on the other side. We may have been gone for days … or weeks. We should rush to Sir Tristan and see how long we’ve been gone. And how much destruction the Thesselhydra has caused. We can tell him what we’ve learned, if he still lives that is, and then take rest. We can plan our next course of action maybe with his counsel.”
"Indeed, let's get some rest at Sir Tristan's. Perhaps we can convince him to fund a few more of those little drinks that cure your ails, Sir Moltenaxe?"
After whispering to her familiar to watch over the cave and report to her if a many-headed creature arises, she walks over to the druid.
"And I hope you're alright from that little delve, Scion Fred. Can we count on your knowledge of Nature to examine these plants a little better?"
Progo begrudgingly follows back to town, "Progo will resupply magic bag back in town. Hopefully nothing too bad has happened in our absence to make our return an unwelcome one."
"Now why do you feel we would be unwelcome, Mister Progo?" Mara nods along, "Sir Tristan might first be distressed, but once he realizes that there are not one, but two caves that lead to two different planes right at his front door, he ought to be grateful to be informed of the strategic disadvantage his kingdom is currently at? Is there something you know that we don't?"
Sending her butterfly to keep watch on the top of the cave opening, Mara then makes the silly face on the avatar profile to the left.
"And besides," she playfully teases Progo, "While you were fiddling with that magic bag, poor Sir Moltenaxe was fighting for his life! We ought to let him have a proper rest before we fight again...And I have only 2 spells left before I can cast no more."
"Progo just thinks we might not get such a warm welcome after being sent to fight monster and we return a week later to find the monster has eaten half the townsfolk and we still haven't even seen the creature. Plus Progo not so sure Sir Tristan doesn't know about other plane. Progo never been on a job before where Progo was given the weapon to use and what a weapon it turned out to be when we crossed over."
"Turns out magic bag great for storage, not so great at item retrieval when in a hurry. Progo also need to work on aim with little vials"

"Well Scion Fred, looks like you've been outvoted. Also, we can't just sit around doing nothing."
Then she proceeds to telekinesis one of her a vials onto Progo's flower (lol)

Okay, so you are going back to the town?
Yes, that is my understanding
