Vrakhazar comes into the tournament room, 12 following behind like a new acolyte. The old cleric sits down next to Sorith and mumbles away in Gnomish. She also offers Sorith a cookie.
(OOC: Can we sit down at the card tables in A9? Based on the map and what I've seen of casinos, I thought the seats were only for competitors in the tournament, and spectators just had to stand around the tables, watching. For a tournament, I actually assumed that the spectators were kept at the perimeter, away from the players. Can we walk right up to Sorith and/or sit down at her card table?)
Seats are generally for players, however as you may have noticed Vrakhazar plays by her own rules and trusts to luck, and people being nice to old ladies, to see her through. Others may not get as good a welcome. 12 is standing behind Vrakhazar, not sitting down. I'm not sure if you have all come in or not, tell me when you have gone over. Vrakhazar just does her own thing.
Sinak walks over to the tables for a better look at the action, making a circuit by the statue as well, keeping his eyes open for guard placement and any other items of note. As he’s walking, he casts cure wounds on himself for 7 points of healing. He calls upon the Raven Queen for guidance and tries to spot anything else out of the ordinary, trying to formulate a plan in his head.
"Thank you for finally answering my question, Jetta Moore," Sorith replies, fighting to hold back a yawn. Cards, and casinos in general, definitely were not her thing. "That's honestly disappointing. You think there'd be little dragon pictures on the backs or something, what with it being called 'Three-Dragon Ante' and all."
The barbarian jumps a little in surprise when Vrak suddenly sits down next to her, and she tilts her head in confusion when the elderly cleric says something in some strange language. Sorith's eyes widen a little when a cookie is offered, and with a thank you, the big dragonborn carefully takes the offered snack before downing it in a few quick bites. At seeing movement from nearby, the barbarian glances over to see Falkas wave to her. She narrows her eyes slightly, a soft snort leaving her before she returns her attention to Jetta.
"To stand up for a minute or two would be great," she replies to the woman's inquiry about what Sorith would like to do before the next round, "I think I might have melded with this chair."
As Sorith takes the cookie, she feel a little spark of magic. The sneaky old cleric has cast Enhance Ability without anyone noticing, Sorith now has advantage on Charisma based checks for the next hour. Vrakhazar smiles and wanders off, 12 in tow and motioning for Chyrs to follow, looking for Sinak.

Elovar goes to stand next to Falkas. "Crazy day, eh? Before all of our fun with your 'brother,' I met some old friends here. One of them is a long-time gambler and gave me his view on the players in the tournament. I thought you could use the info in case you still want to try to enter or advise Sorith on possible strategies. (You seem to get along well with Sorith, so she make take advice better if it's coming from you.)"
Summary of Elovar's info / advice:
Anaïs Bellefleur - the one with the bellowing laugh and smoking foul-smelling cigars
He is OK and may stand a chance.
But he enjoys ale a bit too much. (Elovar offers to buy him a few drinks.)
Jetta Moore - you've already met.
My friend thought she seemed very lucky.
Karn Ironpebble - the one there who's always grumbling to himself.
My friend said that he's a solid player.
He's deliberately slow at playing his hands, and he counts cards.
I was thinking that it may help to rush, confuse, or distract him.
Lahdia Mizreem - the drow elf
She's fiercely determined to win.
My friend found her aloof and inscrutable. I have nothing useful to add.
Nightshade - the tielfling
That's the one that the local crowd seems to be rooting for.
Ruthie Swifford
My friend said that they're "old school" and keep up a constant stream of good-natured chatter.
A determined, no-nonsense player.
Whipp Walsh - the charming rake at the table
My friend didn't see him going far.
He's a sore loser. Elovar says: "If he doesn't lose on his own, I wonder whether some jeering from the crowd would rattle him."
Wumpus Thistledown - the condescending halfling
My friend thought that he was possibly low on funds.
My friend thought that Thistledown dislikes playing high bets.
"Perhaps a confident bluff with a large raise would make him fold."
"Good idea,"Falkas replies before talking quieter, "I might cause a ruckus here shortly, see if one of you can get a closer look at the statue's case to see what kind of lock it is, if everyone is distracted by me one might get a chance to pick it. But be wary of traps, I'm unsure if this place would go that far, but you never trust richpeople." He nods and walks closer to Sorith's table. "I trust that everyone is having a good time.. Oh." He glances at Whipp's pile of winnings. "I guess most of you are at least, I had said I was an expert that could've helped someone."

Whipp doesn't even bother to look at you and just snears “I know your game drow. You’re just the stooge ain’t you. While your card shark, or card dragon I guess, pretends not to know what they are doing but is currently 2nd in the whole thing. Pop off monkey, I only deal with the organ grinder”
With Sinaks passive insight they can tell that Whipp would be unwilling to admit to loosing to anyone less than a professional.

“Ah, well I’d be mad too if my winnings were that low while being beaten by a novice. I do understand sir.” Falkas smiles, “please don’t mind me, I’ll wait until you’ve moved on from the game so I can take your place.” He takes a couple steps back, making sure he isn’t behind any of the players.

Sinak goes over to the display case of the trophy, nodding to the guard standing here. He greets him, saying “Name’s Sinak, just started. Did you hear the news about Well’ard? What’s your name? Pleased to meet you, I’m gonna get this place spiffy and clean.” He pulls out his rag, starts to polish the case, dusting it. During that time, he’s examining the lock, looking for any vulnerabilities, any possible way to get this thing out of here. “That statue needs to be polished up. It looks third rate! This whole place needs such a good cleaning…. Hey, have you had your TR required breaks? Did you read the new memo they are putting up in the bathroom?”
Investigation : 15
After looking closer at the case and speaking with the guard, Sinak winds his way over near Vrak, speaking to her in gnomish, “Hi there. How are you doing? Any observations you’d like me to pass along? I was successful in getting hired, now I have this.” Briefly he shows her his employee key card for the security doors.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
As Sinak has a pass card and looks like a cleaner the guard doesn't question it. "Good to have a new cleaner around here. That water all over the floor is a real hazard. Whats up with Well'ard, I've just been here guarding this statue"
Sinak see's what looks like a good, if mundane, lock on the case. On closer inspection he also sees a line of barely visible runes inscribed around the perimeter of each pane of glass.

Vrak replies to Sinak in under-common. She points to 12 and says "This one has the worst luck I have ever seen. 12 games of dice and cards he has lost so far. Certainly he has been cursed by the goddes who I shall not name here. This is certainly no place for him. I have shown him how to use one of the spare speaking stones and he is to go back to the temple at once before his bad luck spreads to anything else." She points to Chrys "Tell that one to take the monk out of the casino and escourt him back. There is no way that this monk will last 2 minutes on their own with their luck"

SLAM!
"I am NOT a card or a shark and I AM DEFINITELY NOT A DRAGON!!!" Sorith roars after slamming her right fist down on the table, standing and whirling around to glare over at Whipp. "Hells no, I don't know what I'm doing! I've never touched a single card deck in my life! I swear, if I hear you mock my friend one more time, I will do something not nice! Seriously, stop being so damn childish and play the game like an adult!"
Afterwards, the dragonborn sits back down and clears her throat before saying calmly to Jetta and her mother, "Erm, sorry for that."
Intimidation:18 (With advantage from Vrak's cookie.)
Whipp backs away, the terror clear on his face. He starts collecting remaining money and says in a quivering voice. "She threatened me, you all saw it, she threatened me. I was personally invited here by Quentin himself. I don’t have to put up this this. I'm going straight to Quentin now and then we shall see who is being threatened then" Whipp scrambles out of the room.
Two more players, Wumpus Thistledown and Karn Ironpebble, both decide to cut their losses. The scary Dragonborn, who seems to be working for the Moore, is not worth provoking for the slim chance of winning. They quitely collect their remaining gold and leave the table.

Summary of Elovar's info / advice:
Sinak and Falkas both notice that there is one guard with the Statue, that is in a glass display case. There don't appear to be any other guards.
Each player has a small entourage of 2-3 people.
The display case is 2 feet wide, 2 feet deep, and 3 feet tall and appears locked.
Please roll an investigation check if you want to investigate the display case, note that the guard will be watching for suspicious behaviour.
