"Bawk!" Roo squawks before jumping down off the alter to take cover on the other side from Ironmaiden. "You say what you will, but we were not sent here to protect! We have a mission to complete, and we were given a license to kill and told collateral damage is acceptable! I won't let such frivolous things as your values getting in the way of me petitioning the Flaming Fists to help my people!"
After the gauntlets fell, Wilfred will look at the others. "What, it was a nice pair of free gauntlets? What was I suppose to do, leave them here? Are they magic still? Can I wear them and get magic punches?"
Wilfred will watch the deliberation on what to do with the Klim. "Now, now. Let's all calm. Let me ask you a question there, Klim." He will step up to Klim, lean over and whispers in his ear. Stealth17
As he hears the response from Klim, he takes a step back. He thinks for a moment, then lets go of his glaive, letting it fall. "I think you misunderstand your position here." As the glaive hits the water, he pulls out a handaxe, steps forward, and slams it right next to his head. "Tell me what I want to know, and I will consider letting them free you!" Intimidation17
Klim is watching the debates go on with growing dread. He is in such bad shape that the stress of wondering if they are going to leave him to rot is about all he can handle. And then the damn Rooster. Kill him outright? For what?
He is about to plead his case again, when the old one asks him a question. His eyes go wide and he sputters, "Yes, but you'll have to free me and get me out of here if you want to know."
As the axe barely misses and his wispy hair moves from the action, he trembles and hangs his head in resolve. "He works as a cook at the Vanthampur Villa."
Wilfred pulls the handaxe out of the wall, and smalls at Klim. He pats him on the cheek. "See, that wasn't so hard. But we can't take you with us, if you can't fight. You'll just slow us down. I say we let him go and let him fend for himself."
Wilfred will holster his handaxe and go pick up his glaive. As he does, he will say to Roo' "Now, Roo'. It's not always about killing someone. If I killed him, I wouldn't have found out what I wanted to know. Right? You gotta keep your eye's on the prize there, buddy." To everyone, he will ask. "So, should we go south. Seems like less water that way."
Ironmaiden flares the flames in her hand threateningly, as Roo argues, "we can see to it that your people receive all the help they deserve, but it does not need to come at the cost of unnecessary killings, you're bloodlust makes you no better than this scum!" She launches the flame past Roo's head hitting the floating body of bucket head still in the sewage.
"Yes yes, I see your point Wilfred." Roo says, ruffling his feathers while he watches Wilfred work. He starts to ask Klim a question, almost concedes the point...and then the fireball streaks past him and strikes the body of helmethead.
Roo bawks and squawks and dives for cover, screaming in terror at the show of force from Ironmaiden.
"That's easy for you to say you stuffed oven!" Roo shouts at her from his place of cover behind the alter. His words practically tremble with fear. "You probably haven't had to be afraid literally every day of your life about being eaten! Or your children or loved ones taken! Of being gutted out and roasted in a stove filled with fire! So ask him what he's going to do with the information he's learned down here, and since he's seen us, and then decide if you believe him! Because if you don't think he's going to talk, then you're even more naïve than I would have thought! BAWK! And to think, I wasted some of my magic on reviving you just for to show your true colors."
"you revived me because it was the right thing to do, listen to Wilf, the guy helped us now, we should return that favour" she snaps at Roo. Like a teenager throwing a tantrum at something unfair, Ironmaiden snatches the keys from Reed and begins unlocking Klim from their shackles.
(18 athletics if Reed wants to contest, reaction boosted to a 23 if Reed beats it)
Virro, standing beside Reed, has a smirk on his face as the discussion goes back and forth with what to do with ole Klim. He has a look on his face like he truly doesn’t care what happens, but he really doesn’t want this blundering idiot of a noble ruining their chances to accomplish the task down in the sewers, so his eyes open wide when Archie suddenly jumps at Reed, trying to get the keys and unlock the manacles as they are still sorting it out. In a flash and without thinking, his right hand claps onto Reed’s back, saying “Watchout!” and giving a little oompf to be able to resist the sudden grab for the keys.
Corlith just watches the interactions, wondering whether his question to Reed regarding his intention to find Klim's family will be answered. And if it is not his intention, will he agree to the subsequent suggestion to hand the key to Ironmaiden or will the infighting within the group turn even more aggressive.
The longer he stays with them, the more chaotic things became. He starts to wonder if this is a test, and if so, he expects he is likely failing.
He is still ready to offer whoever uses the key some magical defence in case the magic Ironmaiden spoke of is dangerous.
Reed looks over at Corlith when he asks about intent.
"If there's coin to be had, of course I would," Reed says with a smile. "I'd be an idiot not to take advantage of tied up noble and assuage the worry his family must feel."
When Ironmaiden lunges for the keys, Reed is too distracted by Corlith to notice. He reflexively starts to close his hand but is too late (9+1 from bless = 10).
He looks at Ironmaiden for a long moment, his smile flickering for a second.
"Don't worry. I don't hold grudges. I'd never take advantage of someone while they were sleeping. Just not in my nature," Reed says with his smile back on his face. "I am a touch disappointed though."
He looks over at Wilfred.
"Kids today, right?" Reed says. "Where do they learn manners like that? No, please give me the keys, Reed. Just attack."
Reed heads down the stairs and up the ones that lead out of the water again (to the south), not sticking around to see what Klim does.
Wilfred shakes his head. Before Reed goes past him, he'll say "Reed, Archie. I think you two aught to apologize to one another about how this went down. Reed, Archie was just doing what she thought was right. There's nothing wrong with that. And Archie, Reed was just trying to redistribute wealth from the dominant socio-economic ruling class. There's nothing wrong with that either. Now can you two shake hands and make up? Alright? Alright!" He will stare at the two of them, expectedly, until they shake hands.
Archie busies herself unlocking the shackles and letting Klim down, she turns to look at the others and gives a tinny yet exasperated sigh from inside the armour, "Reed ain't the damn problem old man, it's the general bloodlust of this group! What's wrong with y'all?"
"I have to agree with Ironmaiden here. Captain Zodge was clear in that we were to kill on sight the followers of the dead three and stop them spreading fear and death", Corlith says, motioning at the two bodies as an example.
"He also told us to eliminate anyone who gets in our way and not to worry about collateral damage. This is where our interpretation differs. I fail to see how Klim here counts as getting in our way", he adds, now motioning at the soon to be free Klim. "And in my mind killing him would not count as collateral damage, it would be a choice, and would amount to murder".
He looks at each of those still present, hoping Reed is still within earshot.
"I for one joined the Flaming Fist to help bring order to the city, not to increase the levels of chaos and anarchy. We work well together, we just need to focus that obvious hostility and inner rage amongst us in the right direction, or it will tear us apart and make us adversaries".
As the IronMaiden unlocks the shackles, Klim in such bad shape just falls to the ground. He rubs his wrists a bit, looking at you all in turn, worried that one of you will change your mind and run him through.
Seeing that they are too busy talking amongst themselves, he asks for the direction out of the dungeon, and assuming it is given - heads that direction as quickly as possible.
Wilfred looks at Corlith with a slight grin. "Alright, but who's order are you bringing? Who made those laws, hmm? You see, laws are just threats made by the dominant socioeconomic-ethnic group in a given nation or city-state. It’s just the promise of violence that’s enacted and the Flaming Fist are basically an occupying army. You know what I mean? Not all of us are looking through those rose colored glasses, my friend. We know what the Flaming Fist are all about. Heck, I mean, they themselves don't even really know who's leading them right now." Wilfred sighs a bit, and watches as Klim runs off. "All I'm saying is, the Flaming Fist isn't looking out for the proletariat, the working class folk. They are there to make sure us working folk stay afraid and stay down. But I'm gonna try to make sure the corruption and depravity don't cause too much damage to them simple folk. No other way of finding out where that corruption is hiding then inside the system, you know what I mean?"
Wilfred looks off into the distance for a second. "Sorry about that, I'm rambling. Listen, let's get through this, then I'll take everyone out for a nice treat! I'm buying!"
"Rose coloured glasses? I see what the Flaming Fist is all about, I saw how they treated the mob yesterday, but stopping a bunch of murderers who follow some dead dark gods is not where I feel the need to make a stand. Heck pirates are walking into taverns and attempting to murder folk without a care!", Corlith replies to Wilfred. "By the way, did it feel good pushing around that bath house attendant upstairs? Did it make you feel like you were standing up for the working class folk?".
He shakes his head, "Actually, no need to answer. You may believe you have a cause. Heck maybe you are right and you do. But just like the rooster you have some bottled up aggression Wilfred, and your cause only comes across as an excuse to push your weight around. Now if you are serious about working within the Flaming Fist to root out corruption, you have my attention. Forget treats, maybe that is the common ground that we need to help us see eye to eye".
With that, he watches Klim leave and relaxes a little bit. Whatever happened to Klim now was not of his doing.
Wilfred will look at Corlith dead in the eyes, and says with an emotionless expression on his face. "I felt absolutely nothing about what happened to them upstairs." With that, he turns and heads south with Virro and Reed.

Reed looks from Wilfred to Ironmaiden, his eyebrows arcing skeptically.
"Sure. Absolutely no hard feelings. None at all. Not even a little bit," Reed says with a happy lilt to his voice.
But he doesn't stick around for the handshake, only rolling his eyes a little when his back is turned to Wilfred.
"I think you sent dad after me, mum," Reed says quietly as he checks out the stairs, holding his lantern high to be able to see.
