Reed looks to the back hallway and then to the grung bartender before looking back to the others.
"Yeah, let's go to this Blade and Stars and kill Zodge," Reed says, then pauses when he realizes what he's said. "I mean report to him. He hasn't done anything we need to kill him for, right?"
His eyes drift back to the hallway again.
"Let's go now before they either get a visit from the dragon cultists or figure it out on their own."
The six of you divide up the coin that Sylvie has given you quickly as you sit at the table in the Blushing Mermaid. The woman behind the desk is obviously watching the group of you, apparently unsettled after talking to Roo'Stor. Once finished, you say good evening to the IronMaiden and the rest head over to Blade and Stars.
Corlith leads the group to the Inn, noting that the sign that used to hang over the door is no longer there, just hooks where it used to be. As you enter the place, it has a cozy atmosphere with lanterns on the tables, a fire in the hearth and a female human behind the bar, scrubbing away as she chats with two elves situated at the bar.
A couple of tables are filled with people dressed in red and gold and you immediately recognize them as folks of the Flaming Fists. They are well into their drinks for the night and are loud and have not given you all a second glance.
Another table in a corner has a hooded figure sitting, hunched over their mug of ale. A fourth table has a group of women chatting on, getting quiet with whispers than bursting out in laughter. The last two tables are empty.
The woman behind the bar looks up as she hears you enter the tavern.
"Ah, yes. This will be a fine place to rest." Roo says, satisfied with no one look their way when they come in. Having left Glory of Morning in the stables, he goes to the counter with the others, lays down some coins, and then after they negotiate room and board, he steps back out to the dining floor before jumping up onto someone's table, then to the next highest piece of furniture, then to a chandelier, and finally to one of the rafters overhead before sitting himself down into a comfortable position and tucking his head under one wing...
Wilfred let's those who are better with words do the negotiating. He happily takes his 75 gold.
He's appreciative when Archie leaves. He reminds himself that's not her, she's gone. He follows the others to the Blade and Stars.
How long has it been since he was here last. This is where it started, his new path. He pulls his hat down some more. He should really get this blood cleaned off of it, otherwise it will permanently stain it. Eliza would have killed him if he did something like that. He sighs and enters the tavern with the others. He will keep to the back and let the others negotiate for rooms.
He looks around and gets a good look at the people currently here. Flaming fist. Normally he'd be apprehensive, but he's one of them, now. Other than them, it's the woman chasing and the obligatory skulking figure in the corner. Hmm.
As they were leaving the Mermaid, Virro lagged behind at the back of the group and snuck up to the Mermaid, chopping off one of the fingers from a hand prior to leaving, putting it in his pouch with a look of satisfaction..
When they enter the Blade and Stars, his eyes furtively glance around the room, observing who is there, who is watching them, etc. He looks for Captain Zodge, but also looks for any Cult of the Dragon members, his eyes obviously being drawn to the hooded figure, looking at their facial features. “Hmmm..”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Reed spots the hooded figure and Virro's interest.
"Don't pay them any attention," Reed says. "That's the only reason they do it. For attention. I mean really. You're in a pub, everyone having a good time. Who stands out the most? The one skulking in the corner with a hood on. Any time I'm trying to hide I make sure to look like everyone else."
As Roo asks for rooms, Reed chimes in "Family room if you have one, please."
Corlith notes the missing sign as he approaches the entrance to the Blade and Stars, making a mental note to inquire about it later. When he enters, he surveys the room for a few moments, his eyes drawn to each patron in turn as well as to the woman behind the bar to whom he gives a nod.
Seeing Roo and Reed both head over to sort rooms, he wanders over to the Flaming Fists.
"Greetings Comrades. Captain Zodge been in this evening?", he asks as he briefly shows the group dressed in red and gold his own Flaming Fists badge.
The lady behind the bar gives a warm smile as Roo and Reed ask her about rooms. "A family room? Why sure, we have one of those that can accommodate several, six even if you have some lay out their bedrolls. That would be 3 gold for the room and would include your breakfast in the morning."
The women gathered at their table give a shriek and stand up so suddenly that most chairs fall over as Roo jumps on their table to get to his roost in the rafters. "Well I never" is heard coming from the table as they right their chairs again and sit down, giving many glares to the rooster has he tucks his head under a wing.
The drunks at the Flaming Fists table look up at Corlith and without a word, part like the sea and at the end is Captain Zodge. He doesn't even look up as he is hunched well over, bloodshot eyes looking deeply into his mug of ale.
"That sounds lovely," Reed says, sliding three coins across to the bartender. "If the kitchen is still serving, I for one would love some dinner. I've missed far too many meals today."
He looks over at the women shrieking.
"You get a lot of 'I never's if you spend enough time around him," Reed says.
Reed smiles at the sight of Captain Zodge.
"I know I've said this before, but I really don't think this job suits him," Reed opines. "He's obviously a sensitive, empathetic individual trying to block all the noise out with drink."
Reed only waves a greeting and says "Hi Cap" while he waits for the key to their room and any hint of food.
Virro smiles and presses his hand against his earring of message while looking at Zodge, his lips moving but no sound coming out as he turns his head and suppresses a giggle. Then he follows behind Reed.
To Zodge :
Zodge. This is your brain speaking. Finish your beer. C’mon now, you’re three beers behind, you can do it! Hurry up!
Wilfred doesn't see anything overtly dangerous about the crowd. As Reed orders a meal, Wilfred will add "A meal for me as well, and give a mug of ale. I don't suppose you have any of John Duff's brew? His is the best ale on the sword coast! What was that song again, the one John had them Bards sing for him? Oh right!" Wilfred starts to sing (Performance 13)
Duff Ale for me, Duff Ale for you, I'll have a Duff, You'll have one too!
Wilfred coughs, then says "So, yea, a Duff or any ale you got would be fine and dandy."
Wilfred goes over with the others to the Flaming Fists table, but stays towards the back, working on his drink. He might be working for them for now, doesn't mean he has to like them.
Corlith frowns at the visage of Captain Zodge, who seems to have been present for some time.
"Ah, I see. Perhaps what we have to say would be best expressed tomorrow", he says looking at the Captain dubiously. "It seems you are off the clock, as it were. A shame, as we have much to report, but it will wait".
He makes to wander over to one of the empty tables, unless the Captain has anything to say.
"Dinner? Sure! My name is Lupin, you just call me when you need something. How many, the two of you? Duff Ale you say? Hmm.. can't say I've heard of that, but as you can see, our ale does the job!" She chuckles at this, pours Reed and Wilfred a couple of mugs and heads back into the kitchen.
The captain doesn't register Reed's hello, but he does notice the message sent from Virro.
Eyes wide and he flails his arms in surprise, knocking over the beer in front him, it going all over the table and in the laps of several other Fists. As they start yelling, the Captain gets out of his chair and starts stumbling for the door.
He looks at Corlith briefly, recognition almost registering, but not quite.
Reed waves good bye to the captain and settles in to enjoy the ale and a meal before heading up to the family room for a good sleep.
”I imagine there will be plenty more people who will need sorting out tomorrow. And probably quite a few will need to be killed too. Should be a busy day.” Reed says over dinner.
Corlith calls over to Lupin for food and whatever drink will not turn his brain to the same mush as Captain Zodge and waits for the others to join him at the table, if they decide to.
"Indeed Reed, we have many choices for tomorrow. The good Captain may have another task for us, we have Mortlock's brother to go see, Roo has a quest although not sure there are any leads right now and Wilfred is still following a trail", he says agreeing with the halfling.
Virro joins Corlith at the table when he decides to sit down, feeling hungry, dives into some chicken wings with gusto. He makes the little flappy flappy motions with the wing arm, examining the radius and ulna of the wing, then bites of the flesh. “Yeah, tomorrow. Probably better to talk to Zodge then. I’ll stick with you guys. That was fun!” Grinning, Virro starts to play with the chicken wings again.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
The four of you find the family room most comfortable as you all have a bed and the place is clean. The sounds of the night diminish as you easily fall asleep after fighting off the cultists of the Dead Three. The IronMaiden in her home at Threll's workshop and Roo, peacefully (apparently sleeping is the only time he is peaceful) in the rafters of the common room.
In the morning, you all enjoy a large meal of potatoes, eggs, bacon and a sweet bread that Lupin announces is her families secret recipe. The five of you and Lupin are the only ones in the tavern while you eat breakfast, and recalling all the tasks mentioned the night before, you waste no time to head out to Threll's workshop.
The workshop is fairly close to the Blade and Stars and as you arrive you find a hollowed out grandfather clock in the front of the shop, all of the inner workings have been taken apart and very delicately and obsessively laid out in rows on the table, all the way down to the last tiny cog. It's a modest sized shop, though seemingly well cared for. The front door located next to the husk of a grandfather clock is wide open.
Stepping through the open door you see that the rest of the mechanist's shop is in a similar state of highly ordered destruction. You hear someone rifling about upstairs.
Reed does his best to sneak the bites of egg in whenever Roo's not looking and thoroughly enjoys his breakfast, wrapping up any leftovers for a snack for later.
He whistles a halfling walking tune as the group makes its way to the Threll's workshop.
Reed doesn't hesitate and walks inside the workshop, looking around at the disassembled parts.
"Hello in the shop," Reed calls upstairs. "Archie, we're off to see the captain."
Corlith eats his breakfast hungrily, expecting that he will be grateful for the full stomach by the end of the day, if the previous day was any indication.
He is quiet as they make the short walk to Threll's Workshop, his mind busy in contemplation of all they had learnt. Elturel's fate, or what Mortlock had told them of it, weighed heavily on him. Especially talk of the Nine Hells. He worried for his parents and the other occupants of Baldur's Gate. Was Mortlock right about Elturel's fate? Could Baldur's Gate really share it?
As the group enters the workshop and Reed calls out for Archie, he says quietly, "I am not so certain the Captain will be in any state to see us this early. Perhaps we should go and see Mortlock's brother first?".
Turning back to the front door, he wonders aloud, "Anyone else think it is odd that the front door is wide open with no-one manning the shop?".
