This campaign will involve a group of characters travelling across many planes of existence. This is a homebrewed world and campaign so you can expect some significant differences from the box and book based campaign settings involving the planes. Please read the spoilers and if you feel so inclined as to play please reply in accordance with the instructions. Thank You Roland
THE WORLD
This homebrewed world is an alternative timeline of the planet Earth based on the speculative future super continent of Pangea Ultima or Pangea Proxima.
It begins in the kingdom of Brixtonia a martial city state ruled by humans. There is some technology, including guns and balloon travel. Construction has even begun on the first train, but technology here must ultimately be propped up in some fashion by the highest magic. For all of its magic and technology however this world is fueled by mining. Iron, copper, gold, silver and gems are what what really makes the world turn.
THE MYTHOLOGY
Being an alternative time and reality of the planet Earth, the deities of this world are the deities of Earth. The Babylonian, Celtic, Egyptian, Greek, Norse, Roman and Sumerian deities all exercise some element of influence over this reality in struggle against, and sometimes in cooperation with, the devils and demons who seek to claim it for themselves. Their conflicts are ever present and dramatic.
THE RACES
Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Orcs and Elves rule the kingdoms that control the world. Humans mine iron and copper. Dwarves mine gold and silver. Gnomes mine gems, Orcs mine coal, and the Elves use secret means to mine the exotic elements of platinum, electrum, mithril, adamantine and lodestone. The Goblins have mined stone and low grade metal ores for years but rumors abound that they have discovered a new mysterious element that could make them as powerful as the others. Halflings are everywhere and live peacefully among all the other races because they don't seek power and possess agricultural skills. Halfling commodities feed the rest of the world and also keep them drunk as the Halflings produce 90% of all the ale, wine and spirits. Kobolds are found everywhere as their mining and tunneling skills have made them an invaluable part of the labor force in this mining based economy. These are the main races of the world but this world is immense and nearly anything might be found living here somewhere!
GAME RULES, SCHEDULE & DROP OUTS
I will post on most Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. This gives everyone at least 48 hours to reply. Open roleplay between posts is welcome and encouraged. If a player quits their character will become an npc until I replace the player and kill off the npc. Please begin every post with your character's name in caps, like this...
DODO
Dodo will cast friends on the owlbear! If it doesn't work he will run away!
CHARACTER CREATION & APPLICATION
Characters will be created using standard point buy. Advancement will be Milestone based. Encumbrance will be used. Unarmed attack will be used. As stated above the main races are Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Elves, Halflings, Goblins and Kobolds. I have the Volo's Guide race bundle so any race from the basic D&D Beyond package or the Volo's bundle is possible. Do not create a character yet. I'll be selecting players not characters. Once the players are selected we will have a session zero in a private chat thread to create all the characters. To be considered please reply with a little about yourself and your rpg/d&d experience, why you want to play in this campaign and what if anything you believe you can contribute!
Hello. I'm interested in your campaign. I have not done homebrewed content and this would be good way to start. I've played rpg since I was a kid. Mostly video games. I was interested in table tops but never found a group when I was a kid. Nowadays, we have internet and I've just started a couple roll20/discord campaigns. Also, I'm currently in a pbp campaign here in DnD Beyond forums. In rpgs, mmos, even in shooters, I play healers, white mages, medic, etc. I love the adrenaline rush when I get save lives and maintaining the health of the party. I enjoy writing so I hope you and the others enjoy my imagination.
Hello, I"m a fairly new D&D player who's interested in your game. I've played a few games on roll20 and am pretty much hooked. I've always been an RPG fan, basically since I played the original Final Fantasy as a kid. But never picked up tabletop until recently. I think your world seems pretty interesting and would love to join. The setting is intriguing. Especially the alt future/fantasy setting.
To be considered please reply with a little about yourself and your rpg/d&d experience
I have been playing DND in some fashion for nearly 20 years, started when I received the 2nd Edition AD&D Players Handbook from my Uncle. Used to play all summer and it was fantastic. I love exploring new and interesting character concepts, not just from a mechanics standpoint but from a variety of roleplaying aspects as well. I have played in several games here on DDB, a couple that I have had to drop out of because of the speed of the games. But it seems like this one will move at a moderate enough pace that I would be comfortable.
Why you want to play in this campaign
I like the concept of an Alternate Earth, I am a huge fan of the Eberron setting for DND so anything that incorporate tech and magic is exciting for me.
What if anything you believe you can contribute!
I feel like have a average to above average grasp of the English language, I enjoy DND as a hobby so I am dedicated, and I have great hair...maybe not that last one.
Hi! This sounds interesting, I will throw my hat at it :)
I’ve been playing D&D for more than 30 years now ( Gosh I am getting old) and to other RPG out there. I like Roleplay development of the characters more than just numbers and min/max play but also enjoy a good fight! I play several games here at D&D Beyond, if you want to check out just tell me and I will point you to them.
Your homebrew concept sounds interesnting, almost like Shadowrun game but earlier in the history. Sounds like fun an a great opportunity to try new and different character concepts.
What can I contribute? Some grammar mistakes ( I am not english spoken native) and some spanish jam and wine. True spanish jam and red wine, not the average bullshit that they give to the tourist. Believe me, you wont regret it. Unless you are vegetarian or don’t drink wine, in wich case you can talk and I eat and drink! ;)
Experience: I have moderate experience in RPGs. The majority of my experience is with 5e. I play some games on this site, as shown in my signature :)
Why I want to play: I really like playing 5e, I'm interested in this world you've homebrewed, I don't think I've ever played to levels where we traveled to other planes, and I think I should easily be able to keep up with the schedule.
What I can contribute: I can play and am willing to play almost any role in a party, and I know my stuff (usually :|). I'm no genius roleplayer, but I do my best to make my characters more than just their stat sheets.
I’m interested in join up in this campaign. Currently playing a few PbP games and haven’t backed out on any. Only experience is with 5e but never played any home brew type games. I’m more interested in role play and not roll play, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy combat and checks. My schedule is open so I can keep up.
I have been playing RPGs for about a year now. I've done some 5e and also a little bit of Pathfinder. I have experience with PbP, as I am currently playing a PbP on Discord. I have experience playing in homebrew games, both in person and on PbP. I have experience in role play and feel that I can make a character that is more interesting than just a regular murderhobo. My schedule should be open, as I have just finished with this current semester of college. I would like to play in this campaign because I am never opposed to playing some more DnD and in terms of contributions I can provide whatever a party needs me to bring.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Xenophon: Topaz Dragonborn Fighter (ixi's Dragon of Icespire Peak)
I’m more shy talking about myself than I am about playing a character, but this setting appeals immensely to me. I love mixing fantasy with sci-fi, and your world sounds like a well thought out combination. (The mythology aspect is especially intriguing.) So here goes. :)
My RP experience started with The Realm, where I spent more time chatting IC and roleplaying on forums than I did actually playing the game. That trend continued through several other MMOs, where over the years I collected many IC and OOC friendships and memories. I wanted to play D&D way back when, but I never found the right group of people to play with. My sons recently reignited my interest when they put together a family 5e campaign. Since then, I’ve dipped my toe into the pool here at these forums, and I’m currently running a 5e PBP game elsewhere.
On the roll play side, I’m still at the stage where I have to sometimes flip frantically through the rulebook, but I’ve got the basics and am learning more every day. On the role play side, I’m a fair hand at writing and character portrayal, and I love contributing to the IC interactions which bring characters (mine and everyone else’s) to life.
I’d love to play, and my schedule is flexible enough that keeping to your pace will be no issue.
