The Guild - Game Thread

Runt nods, increasing impressed.

Devarus crosses his arms over his chest, and stares daggers at the half-elf. "You are possession of something that does not belong to you. I am trying to be reasonable, as you were 'duped' into its purchase. Or is this not connecting in mind yet, boy. Has things become so relaxed here, than the guard are little more than layabout and thieves themselves? Or do you have even a shred of dignity and honor?" He asked pointedly, and would then look to Gendan with an incredulous  look.

(To Zulk: I'm hoping the above counts as the [action]help[action] action for any follow-up from Gendan. But if not, I'll toss in I guess intimidate roll?)

Yeah the above can count as a Help for Gendan to roll.... I guess whatever it is she wants to roll.

“40gp is a really good price, you know. And I’m pretty sure you don’t want to be crossing the Guild’s orders.”

(Waiting a moment to respond to Elsara since Gendan is in a conversation.)

The half-elf huffs and says, "You guys at the Guild have it easy. No strict regulations and you get paid more gold for one job than we hardworking guard get in half a year. 50 GP won't even make a dent in your wallets. Just pay that and I'll hand it over." This person seems to not like the Guild very much.

Devarus expression turns stormy. "Have it easy? First off, boy, as I've learned -- having been both a watchmen for over eighty years and a member of the guild for far less -- neither. Have it. Easy. Or if any do, it is the watch, simply by virtue that we do not need to go out into dangerous situations as nearly as often. If you don't think so, join the Guild. See for yourself just how easy it is to make it." He stated flatly.

"And secondly, being a watchmen should never be about coin in the first place. It's about the honor and privilege to be trusted by the community with their safety. Sometimes it can feel like a thankless job. But one well worth it, if you actually give two shits more about others than yourself. The only reason I'm not one anymore... is for my Mother's sake. For the freedom to go the places I need to for her." Sadness flashes across the elder half-elf's face. Before anyone can speak of it however, Devarus, after some fiddling around with his person, eventually hand over a separate pouch with the prerequisite dragons. "Here. For the ring.  Take it. I certainly hope "

The half-elf takes a the 50GP and tosses Deva the ring. "Keep it, you old cook."

It was frustrating but at least you have the ring now.

Quick catch up, Runt is with El and Val and we are still in the Yavern Yes? Deva and Gen are doing their thing and I cannot for the life of me find in the backlog of this forum why they are after that ring. I must have missed a major post and I cannot find it.

It's the Guild's current mission: Get the ring and bring it back to the client. There is nothing else special about that ring. And yes, Val, Elsara and Runt are in the Tavern while Deva and Gendan just now acquired the Ring.

Ok, thank you. I figured it was a guild mission but I couldn't find it.

Gendan responds to Elsara’s message. “Dev got the ring, we’ll meet you at the tavern.”

(So glad I stopped short on that spending spree...)

Devarus just barely catches the ring and would shoot the other half-elf a disapproving dad glare before turning to Gendan. "That settles that.... Are you alright, Gendan? You looked a bit distracted there for a while? Was Miss Elsara reaching out to you earlier?" Once she passes along the details, the ex-guard curtly nods and would follow her back. It would be some time before he got the resting annoyed face from his visage.

“Yeah, she was in my ear there for a second, but you had it handled.” 

Elsara grins as she looks over to Runt. "Good news. They apparently found the ring already. They're headed over now!"

"That are excellent news!" says Valwaryn. 

"It seems that we got lucky for once... " 

As Gendan and Devarus get to the bar, Gendan simply says, “Alright, we’ve got what we came for. Shall we move along to our other quests?”

“Oh, and I don’t remember what the payout was going to be for this ring, but 50gp off the top for Deva since he ponied up to get the ring back without a fight.” Gendan says, seeming to be a bit disappointed.

Devarus just shakes his head and his hands. "It is fine. As nice as it is to have some pocket money on hand, it is not the end of the world for me." He gives a good-nature smile before it immediatedly sour. "It seems peace time has however somewhat corrupted this lot here. And that will have to rectified, least our foes find even greater purchase here... But that is tomorrow's problem. Have you all learned anything in regards to our other business? Or anything about a... recent caravan perhaps have left her for a journey to the south?" He would ask of Elsara's team.

Runt comments somewhat coldly. These people are soft. City's have made them sheep.

Alright so the teams meet up again at the tavern. What are you doing now?
