(Devarus will go for the Knock Out. Sorry for not mentioning sooner)
Devarus is breathing hard after the rush of activity, but would sluggishly follow through on manacling the fallen Orc Captiness. "There. That aughta hold for while." He said triumphantly before beginning triage procedure, as he couldn't have her bleeding out on the way back. Not... that she was any danger of that, but the retired guard couldn't be too cautious. Once all that's done he fireman carries her back to the beach force. "That was far closer a call than I would've preferred. Lady Elsara? Do you or Miss Gendan have a means to signal the Val and the captain? Let them know we're alright, at least?"
"Oh, um, yeah, I can send them a message. It doesn't have a physical range." Elsara tells Devarus. "Should we just do a quick once-over before saying so?"
"The sooner they're aware of the situation on the beachfront the better." Devarus replied to Elsara. "But given the situation, say that it is... temporary all clear. And that further immediate request for holding here or not would be appreciated." He glances over to Runt. "Besides... we should limit risks of stumbling into another situation like this one. Though I would not begrudge their being at least the one scout while we await word."

Before long, the last Ballista is broken by Val and the Captain. Regardless of whether or not he was informed via Sending, He sees the corpses of the orcs and shakes his head disapprovingly. At least the Pirate Captain is still unconscious. He gets to work ordering the crew of the Vortex to bring in the shackles and chains so that the still living pirates can be restrained and taken aboard. This whole process will take an hour or two. Meanwhile the Party has some free time to themselves. What do you do?
If the group looks ready to get back together, Elsara will offer to row them back to the pirate ship. If they can split enough people between either ship, it could at least be brought back to port. Though Runt did kill a lot of them, there are some that she can help get detained in a brig, etc.
(Guess in that time use her arcane recollection to get back a couple of spell slots. Will remove that potion of healing Runt took.)
(Short rest it is for Dev! Have I told you all how nice it is to be a fighter sometimes?)
As hard as it was, and though his words may fall on deaf ears given any look in at least Gendan's direction, Devarus had stepped up when meeting the Captain once more, saying any blame for the dead Orcs was on him. That he had allowed himself to get so caught up, and knowing what he knew of Ruu and Gendan at least, the usual efforts to reign deviations from the mission was not present on the field. That is, he started to do as much before asking about the Vortex and the reason for all the misfires.
Whether he recieves the honest answer or is deflected on that point, Devarus turns taciturn with the Captain. He would initially help with getting the Pirate Captain secured, as well as any Orc on the beach front that happened to still by breathing by share chance. Beyond this, however, he retrieved his bow, quietly joined the others in taking a short rest, and idly performing maintaince on his gear. "... We should get to work soon. There is still their fort of there's to see to, just in case there is any more rats in hiding, or prisoners to see to." He said towards the end of the short rest. At that point, he gets up, and made ready to search the locale the ex-prisoner had mentioned.

@Devarus, The captain is one to easily believe his allies. In this case, that would mean the Captain buys Deva's story about him being responsible for the pirate deaths. The Captain glares at him and says, "I expected more from you. I thought you, a former guard, would be the one to follow procedure instead of abandoning it at the first chance. Have you forgotten your training already?" He then continues to shackle and carry the prisoner orcs on to the ship. When asked about the misfires he says, "In case you haven't noticed, soldier, we are on a time limit here. I have no time for talk right now." The misfires followed by the sheer number of casualties seem to have eaten away a large chunk of his patience. Perhaps asking him again after he's cooled off would yield more honest answers.
(Alright everyone, roll hit die for short rest healing)
After all the prisoners are brought on board, the Captain Cerax calls you aboard the ship for briefing for the next stage. He says, "Now that we have the pirates locked up in our ship, we have to conduct our next phase. We need to go deeper into the island and find the pirate base to round up any pirates who are still left. Can I entrust that you will bring these people in alive? I would go with you but in light of recent events, I am no longer confident in the competence of my second in command. Hence why I trust you to go forth, investigate the base and return here. If you encounter pirates, bring them in alive."
“When Runt was bleeding and surrounded, do you really want me pulling punches to ensure that I do not deal a fatal blow? When the swarm of orcs was charging, my Fireball nearly halved the opposing forces. Such powers cannot be scaled back to simply disable our opponent without at least a chance of death. I will make no such promise that the enemies will be returned alive so long as they are hostile to me and my teammates.”
"I too, seriously doubt the competence of your second in command. May I suggest you find another one more suitable for such duties? In worst case he is a traitor, a racist or a hearthless psicopath who doesn't care to injure his own men, in better case scenario he is just stupid. Either case you cannot rely on him. But this pack is yours to lead. I, too, agree with my friend here. We could try to make them surrender, but if they come with lethal force and in big numbers, as we were on the boat... Mother Nature will decide who are the strongest or the wisest and survive to see trial. If not... She will take them."
The Captain glares at Gendan and says, "Alright then. If you are so unsure of how things turn out, I have a better idea. You stay on the ship to make sure the orcs don't escape and I will go investigate the base." He turns to Val and says, "I promise he's not this stupid all the time. I don't know what's gotten into him. Maybe he sneaked in alcohol and drank too much of it? I'm going to give him a good talking to once we get back to Cosmer. For now, he is what he is and we will have to deal with it."
"More likely he seeks Glory." Devarus piped up after so much silence. "But it is as you say, Captain. A matter for another time." He finally meets the captain's eyes, and with hands folded behind him, musters some courage. "Ms. Gendan must remain apart of the assault team. While you may not agree with her 'delivery' of point. Hers, and that of Mr. Valwyrn, is not without merit. We've already been somewhat misled about their numbers. If the overall mission is to be successful, and with the fewest casualties on our side some leeway must be extended."He then looks to Gendan.
"I understand where you coming from. If I had such powers, I would find it hard to show restraint for my Comrades sake... But, I must ask that you try. Ms. Ruu has more than proven herself far more resilient then any of us. So unless absolutely necessary... please. Try to exercise some restraint on this mission going forward. We are under contract. And if we are to be trusted in the future, we need to remain professional. Especially now, given the incident in Romel, and what we will need in the future to make sure another incident like that doesn't happen."At that, he gives her a stern look.

Runt does her best to hold back and not beat the ever living shit out of the captain and his bullshyte. She glares and grits her teeth. She will not soon forget being shot upon by his crew. And Runt is not a forgiving person. For now she stores that anger for later devastation.
She will sit quietly with her battle sister Gendan and take her short rest
The captain listens to Deva and says, "Though I will not disagree that both Gendan and Valwaryn are both highly competent members of your team, I still believe it may be the best if she stays on the ship. This morning, I am having doubts on the competency of my in-charge so I believe she would be well suited to keeping things under control here. As for the assault team, I shall not send you into the forest with a man less. I shall join the assault team myself." After restating his plan he adds, "If you have any objections, speak them now and tell me your reason for disagreeing."
At this point, Gendan is quite irritated with the captain. She respects Devarus, so would do her best to do right by him. She wishes to remain in good standing with the guild, though mostly because it’s her best chance at acquiring wealth. “Let me get this straight. You don’t trust me not to kill the orcs, so you’re leaving me in charge of the tied up orcs? While Elsara has regained a portion of her arcane energy for the impending assault, the source of my powers is from a stranger place and is fully renewed with only a brief break from work or war, and I would be at full strength going in. I think you would be making a mistake—potentially a grave mistake (pun intended)—to exclude me from any situation where combat may occur.”
